One thing that really disappointed me was that they were out of brisket (told us after we placed our orders) and half our orders had brisket. We had family from the west coast here and the whole point of going to Memphis BBQ was for them to enjoy southern BBQ and I feel they didn't get the whole experience. Another thing, our waiter specifically said he put the 3 kids meals on one order so they would come out first... guess which ones came out last out of all 9 of us? Yeah, the kids. And the food was piping hot for them so they barely ate anything by the time we were all done with our meals. Which our meals were actually good. Except the water. Has an awful chlorine taste to it. My wife got her usual steak on a stick. She said it was very tender and flavorful. She also got a order of The Onion rings. If you like the big onion rings, you can't go wrong. I got the Reuben sandwich and onion straws. It was hands down one of the best Reuben's I've had in quite some time. I like sweet tea as much as the next Southerner, but this one was so sweet it felt like it skipped tea entirely and went straight to syrup. If hummingbirds ever open a restaurant, this would probably be their house drink. The cornbread muffins were an adventure of their own. They were very dry, spongy, and unusually sweet -- almost like someone confused cornbread with dessert. Imagine expecting cornbread and getting something closer to candy. That's the closest description I can give. The atmosphere didn't help the situation either. The vents above the dining area looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while, the walls felt bland and lifeless, and several tablecloths were torn. Along the bottom trim where the wall meets the floor, it looked like there was some serious wear and possible moisture damage going on.
