I don't hate on the Waffle House. Truth is, today was the first time I crossed the threshold of this iconic establishment. Ordered up: -Hashbrowns (you can get them "scattered, smothered and loaded" (or maybe it was "destroyed") but I opted for plain. Greasy and shredded, just like a greasy spoon should be making them. -Grits (these too, you can get in a variety of artery-clogging ways) or the more modest old "cheesy" or "plain". Great food and decent atmosphere. People like to hate and give bad reviews expecting way too much from a fast food 24 hour place. For what this place is meant to be. Food is great. I have eaten at this restaurant 6 times in the past 2 months. I like the food there, but since their best cook left things aren't as good. The staff is friendly, but often not attentive and spends their share of time on their phones or just hanging around. The restaurant is usually clean and quiet. I will probably go back eventually, but with lower expectations. read more

Waffle House, you let me down. Maybe it's because I wasn't familiar with your menu (we don't have any Waffle Houses up north), but I thought I couldn't go wrong with ordering waffles. Right? After all the word waffle is in the name Waffle House. Unfortunately my waffles didn't live up to my expectations. My grits weren't up to par either. They were way too buttery (greasy). Needless to say I couldn't finish them or the eggs on my plate. I think next time I'll stick with one of the breakfast sandwiches served on Texas toast. I noticed that's what a lot of the other customers were ordering. The food has some thing to be desired and so does the wait staff. The price is ok for what you get. There are two Waffle Houses in Jonesboro this is the worst of the two. Even though the restaurant was empty may two other tables beside ours. We waited 15 min before we even ask if we wanted to drink and in the next question what do you want to eat. Please note there were no menus on the table at the time and it has been a while since I have ate there. And there was no good morning or how are you doing. Well we ordered anyway and the table that has order before us who was there before we got there ask the waitress how long before their food was ready and she had just called it in after they asked. They left and after they left two of the staff talked about the customers that l left in front of us and the others in the restaurant. To me that is a big turn off and a no no. read more

First, the place was dingy! I saw flies in the window seal, just gross. Service was ok and the food was not tasteful. I get the same meal each time I visit: hash brown, raisin toast, patties, and cheesy eggs. The toast was drenched in too much butter. Cheesy eggs were not so cheesy and it was a small serving. The best Waffle House I've ever been to. Our waitress was just phenomenal-- Ashanty, I believe? From Birmingham!-- and it was so obvious all the other waitstaff cared about customers. A couple regulars were there chatting back & forth, the whole crew was very friendly to us, and the food was perfect! Crispy bacon, perfect hashbrowns, egg just like I ordered. Never lacked a refill. Every year on February 13 my mom and I celebrate Galentine's Day. What is Galentine's you ask? It's a day where you go out and celebrate your lady friends! What better way to celebrate it than eating at Waffle House. Overall the good isn't the greatest but it isn't the worst either. I always get a waffle, bacon, and hash browns. I can finish my sides but never my waffle, granted it is a pretty big waffle. That's pretty much it. We eat here basically once a year to celebrate a made up holiday. The restaurant appeared clean and out waitress was nice. This Waffle House is the older one of the two Jonesboro but there's not much difference in them. read more

Soooooo today was decent as far as food goes. I asked for my bread to be toasted on the grill as I always do. I then had to listen to them loudly discuss whether or not they could do this. Oh let me back up when the girl came to the table she asked what will you have and I said coffee and water She then kinda clucked her tongue a little and said food?! And then she was like oh wait you don't have menus. I knew what I wanted I wanted my coffee. At this point she tried to strike up banter but it wouldn't work. When my son took a second to order his food she said final answer because I guess that's cute. She and the cook also had a loud discUssion about who was in charge the general manager Michael or the store manager who did not do as much as the general manager. When we added a to go order she rolled her eyes at my husband who was super nice aboUt it. They all then had another discussion about whether or not second shift would be on time for work. One lady said they better be on time because I am ready to go. Moral of the story: Don't go to Waffle House during non peak hours. read more

We actually love Waffle House. Our go to for breakfast when we either don't want to cook on a weekend or are visiting somewhere and don't know of any great places for breakfast. This particular WH had a great cook/manager, served very tasty and perfectly prepared (he wanted his eggs sunny side up and wet and that's how they arrived) and pleasant waitresses. If I could separate my stars I would give them 4 stars for food but 2 stars for cleanliness and appearance. The place was plain dirty. Floors were sticky wet with paper and food strewn about. Even after the table was cleared and wiped down for us, it was so sticky and icky that my husband went to the restroom and brought back a wet paper towel to scrub it clean before we set our arms down. Maybe if they read this they will think a little more about upkeep. We've been in WH's that have been spotless so it can be done! read more

Disappointing even for a Waffle House. Over easy does not mean cooked hard. I don't know what they put in the gravy but it was too spicy. The waitress brought one dish at a time so the first one was cold by the time you got the entire meal. Coffee wasn't any good at all. When I went to pay no one wanted my cash. WH is usually a solid unspectacular place to eat, i.e. you get what you pay for, the Super 8 of restaurants. This one was definitely below par. read more

Wow, where do I begin? I should have rethought going to this Waffle House when I saw that I would be the only customer in the place, but hey, it's Waffle House, how bad could it be. Well, they showed me. I was asked if I wanted something to drink. I asked for a cup of hot tea. I sort of got a strange look, and was told that nobody had ever asked for that. They then stood looking at me. I pointed to the red lever on the coffee machine and said, put a tea bag in a cup and just fill it with hot water. I understand, hot teas is an exotic order, why would a breakfast type place know what that is? I then order a burger from their $5, menu that includes a beverage. I asked for french fries and was told, sorry we don't have any. Oh well. My check came and of course I was charged for the tea. Seeing as no one had ever ordered that, I guess they didn't realize it was a beverage. It was taken off the check, I paid and left shaking my head. The Waffle House on stadium is getting better. I travel a lot and frequent waffle houses all through the mid southern United States. Came in tonight to get some food to go and was greeted by the waitress, Paris, belittling and slandering the cook. The cook kept his cool tho I can say, if I were in his shoes, would have lost my temper with the very rude waitress. The food was excellent, some of the best I've had at Waffle House in general. Would definitely recommend restaffing on the service. Had to tell the waitress shales I would wait in my car as the other waitress made staying inside unbearable. The cook definitely deserves a pat on the back for carrying himself as professionals as he did under the sheer amount of pressure and threatening words and behavior of the waitress. Will return for the food and request shales or another waitress but steer clear of the waitress Paris, seems to thrive on drama. 4 stars for the food quality and professionalism exhibited by the cook and other waitress. read more
