This establishment is an upscale restaurant in downtown Jonesboro. There is street parking, but also a free parking lot about a block away. The night I went there was a large party and it was a bit noisy. But overall the atmosphere was very nice. I ordered off the specials menu. The pork belly on the steak was amazing. Food was wonderful! I believe this is the only true "fine dining" restaurant in the Jonesboro area, and I was pleasantly surprised! Each item ordered came out delicious and plated beautifully! Heather was our server and she was a real joy. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She made excellent recommendations and made sure our drinks were never empty. Looking forward to coming again as they had some wonderful fish options that I would love to try. All in all, the experience was a pleasure. We came around 5:00 on a weekday and they weren't very busy. We may of been the only ones dining when we were seated..by the time we placed our order, they had started to pick up nicely. I was in town for graduation weekend and wanted to treat myself to a really nice dinner. I walked came in and walk in as a party of one. Me and the hostess quickly came to an agreement that rather than take up a table in the dining area on the first floor, I would go upstairs to the bar area and find an empty table there. I ordered a virgin Mojito from the bar. It was delicious. I wanted a refill, but the bartender/waiter never came back to offer, and it was hard to flag him down. I had studied the menu ahead of time so I already knew that I was going to have a wedge salad. It was perfection! While I'd also gone in expecting to eat the salmon, I decided to switch it up and order the redfish off the specials menu. it took way too long to get my food. It took so long that after a ridiculously long time, avoiding, my waiter/bartender came by to let me know that it would be a little while longer because another waiter had taken my meal to a different table. There was no concession offered for the additional wait. My waiter said that the redfish being built was very popular, so I thought it would be a good choice. It was the wrong choice. The fish was overcooked and thus dry. The Banville sauce on top had a good flavor, but it had clearly been broiled after the sauce was applied, so it was charred on top. So, I didn't even realize the sauce was there just by looking at the fish. I was about to stop the waiter to tell him that they forgot my sauce, when I decided to slice into the fish and realize that the blackened the area on top was the sauce. The bar area became increasingly busy while I was there as a more traditional dinner hour approached, and the bartenders who were doubling as waiters in that area became increasingly busy. Because of this, it was difficult to get anyone's attention, and so I struggled through about 1/3 of my redfish before I was able to stop someone. I asked if they could bring me some salt and see if the kitchen had additional Bienville sauce. Of course the bartender forgot because he got busy. He was stopping by my table to ask if I needed anything and then remembered that I'd already requested something, so he went off to go check into my original request. He brought me salt and circle back later to say that the Bienville sauce wouldn't be possible. At that point my remaining and asked for my check. I think he also forgot about it. Took about 15 to 20 minutes before the other bartender swung by with my bill. At that point, I had my credit card sitting on top of the table waiting for them, so he collected it and went off and brought me back the slips to sign. This is minor, but my check and signature slips did not come inside one of those little padfolios as all of the other tables (3) around me did. Overall, as a guest in the bar area, I felt forgotten. I waffled between whether I was mistakenly or intentionally overlooked. it truly felt intentional by the end. Other guests were getting through their meals so much quicker than me. In fact, a table of two that came in probably 20 to 30 minutes behind me had already paid their bill before I could even get mine. I watched one of the bartender/waiters attempt to force additional wine blowers on a table of two next to me well, no one ever offered to refill my drink. All said and done, I would totally go here to eat that witch salad again, and maybe try something else from the appetizer. But I would definitelyskip the bar area. read more

Fine food with a bit of Cajun influence. The fried calamari was perfectly done which is not easy with baby calamari with tentacles. These were the best I have had since I lived in New Orleans. I had a glass of Prosecco and we had a blue berry lemon drop (I believe) the drinks were also very good. The shrimp was very filling and owe both ended up taking food home from our main course. The service here is amazing. Our server was very attentive and quick to get what we needed. We had a reservation. We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer, but they actually crab poppers. Tiny, unfortunately. They were good, but I was expecting actual crab cakes. My fiancé ordered a $70 steak and loved it. I ordered the crab encrusted salmon and was very disappointed. It wasn't encrusted. It was just lump crab meat on top. The salmon was very undercooked. I had to send it back because it was like sashimi. Hot pink and still super watery. When it came back, it was overcooked to the point of being dry and tough to chew. They did give us a dessert (which was delicious) as an apology. My only complaint is that for such an upscale place I expected the water to be filtered but it tasted like straight tap The bread tasted so fresh, the salmon was perfectly cooked and the balsamic glaze complimented perfectly. Not pictured was my husbands plate with a filet and scalloped potatoes which were delicious as well. The filet was slightly overcooked (we asked for medium rare). Inconsistent. BACKGROUND: I've eaten at Omar's Uptown for over two years; seven check ins on Yelp, and ten visits in all. They've produced the best steak of my life (see Oct 2016) and one of the most mediocre (March 2018). I love the cajun/creole flair Omars delivers with all it's dishes (see the 15 photos of various appetizers and main dishes posted). FOOD: --Steak-- the memorable steak I had, strip steak w/ creole meunière and cornmeal dusted crawfish tales, was a special when I first tried, but now is a standard (labeled Zydeco style). Seems to have lost it's magic along the way to full time presence on the menu. [single tear] --Oysters-- typically from the gulf at $11 is a good deal! Not tiny, east coast brine, and also not the behemoths Skinny J's delivers during it's happy hour which are hard to swallow. *Check the chef has released the lower muscle before you top it and try to slide the oyster into your mouth. This is textbook when shucking, but inconsistent at this venue. --Bang Bang Shrimp-- delicious; if you're wondering RATING: If I rated the restaurant on my first meal it would be an easy 5s and my last two 3s. Thus, my four star rating is attributed to the classy and upscale ambiance, friendly and professional wait staff, and legacy meals that haunt my culinary memory. My work in the area may bring me back again in the fall, but for the money Omar's Uptown demands and the average quality it's now producing...I probably won't go back. I still recommend this restaurant for large groups looking for a fancy venue with good wine! SUGGESTION: I'm not sure what's happen to quality and consistency, but when I bring up my experiences to members of the community, I've found many saying or hearing similar. If you're looking for consistent quality, love a steak, and don't mind a more casual dining experience, walk a few blocks to Doe's Eat Place. read more

Went here for my wife's birthday. They gave us the basement room which was a nice, private touch for the 10 people we had with us. My wife had the filet with goat cheese and tomato basil - her go to here. I had one of the specials - sea bass. My wife loved hers like usual, but just like my previous review, they cooked it medium rare when she asked for well done. I get it, though. If I were a chef and someone asked me to ruin a steak I would refuse also. The sea bass was fantastic. It was marinated in some sort of Asian marinade and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. It came with jasmine rice and a side of wilted spinach. All of it was fantastic! We had a great night. And the server, sorry dude I don't remember your name, was awesome. He was a lot of fun and we got a few laughs from him. Overall, a good experience with a heavy bill. For two of us it came out to $130 which included an 18% gratuity. I have been to Omar's in two occasions: 1: Business meal with a VP of our very large company. The food was fantastic. We ordered several appetizers, they came quickly. The time between apps and our meals was a bit long, but we had 8 people and came in last minute. 2: my wife and I took a friend and his mother to dinner here.
