The shrimp had a strong fishy smell and taste that seemed off to me, so I ended up just eating the fries and leaving most of the shrimp. Today, we came back and ordered fried pickles and fried mushrooms as appetizers. The fried pickles were okay, but very tangy and nothing special. The mushrooms were the biggest disappointment. They were extremely watery inside, and every bite caused the breading to separate and fall off. I've had fried mushrooms before and understand they can have some moisture, but these were excessively watery. For my meal, I ordered the chicken fried steak with fries. It arrived without gravy, so I had to request it separately. They brought out a very generous portion, and the gravy itself was decent. Unfortunately, the chicken fried steak had similar issues to the mushrooms--the breading wouldn't stay attached to the meat, and the steak was very chewy. Overall, I'd rate the food around a 2/5. It wasn't inedible, but it wasn't enjoyable enough to make me want to come back. The restaurant itself is clean, attractive, and has a nice atmosphere, which was probably the highlight of the visit. On the drive home, I started feeling pretty nauseated. I'm not saying I got food poisoning, but the meal definitely didn't leave me feeling great.
