This place is great!! If your dog likes to swim, you should definitely try Wag-n-Splash out. They have a large indoor, heated salt water pool with a ramp and steps for easy access. There are plenty of toys and the owners know how to keep the pups entertained! My lab, Otis, absolutely loves it and does not want to leave. My other pup, Edie, isn't very keen on swimming but they were able to get her in a few times. I will definitely be back!

    Conveniently located near Tanger outlets.

hands-down the best dog training around Charleston. Jonathan's a total pro--patient, positive, and…read moregets real results fast. My wild 100+ lb pup couldn't even walk on leash without dragging me; after their board-and-train, he's calm, listens like a champ, and actually enjoys walks now. No harsh methods--just smart, loving guidance that sticks. The before-and-after is night and day--best investment we ever made. Highly recommend if your dog's out of control; they'll turn it into the family member you've always wanted.

I waited a long time to write this review... Jonathan had our dog maybe 6 months ago and he's now a…read moreyear old. I wanted to not just write a simple review but to really be honest and sincere because we researched for months to find the right place to train our pup. Our dog is a German Shepherd - Great Pyrenees mix and while he was doing well at wanting to please, he was super stubborn, guarded our home and WOULD not come back for any recall. Now, now, he's the most well behaved and amazing dog, he comes back 100% of the time with just the word "here" and he can jump up where I tell him, he barks once at passers by, but knows that's all. He can do off leash like a pro, today I took him to the trails and he stayed right beside me off leash the entire time I asked. Right now he's sitting in his "place" as he does whenever someone comes to the door. These are all things I tried training him before we sent him to Jonathan that did not work or stick no matter how hard I tried. Right now, I can open the front door, invite him out, and he will stay with me, if he does walk away, he'll come right back when asked. All of this would not be possible without Jonathan. There are some caveats I would say though. If you read the reviews you'll see Jonathan isn't the greatest communicator, and I won't disagree, he's really a dog person, not a people person, but for the care of my dog I want a dog person; if he was great with me but awful with my dog I'd be pissed. His services are expensive. And it will take longer than expected, so expect to bring the dog food and meds and maybe buy him a bed for being at Jonathan's, but it's very much a trust the process, he tells you up front, but he won't bring the dog home till the dog is ready. The other reason I waited for the review is so I could review the extended care and warranty. Upon his return I was unhappy with my dogs progress and I called Jonathan and he came back to me for another whole session to help. Not surprisingly, I was not doing it right... and the true value of his work is what you put into it after, we have been texting and videos and emails with him for the last six months and he's been able to guide us and has invited us to come back for more sessions to fine tune our concerns. If you just give him the dog and then don't expect to train after, you'll loose, because that's just not real, but if you use the essential and reinforce them you'll have a dog you love to be with every day. He mostly gave us the language to talk to our dog, and now we can work with him with ease. I would suggest if you want to invest in your dog, your life, your friendship and relationship with the dog, invest in Jonathan.

One year later, I can confidently say the training has been truly life-changing for our dog and our family. Our dog was found on the streets and came to us with deep trust issues. He was fearful, reactive, and even bit our trainer twice early on. Despite this, Tara never gave up on him. Tara approached his training with patience, structure, and an incredible understanding of behavior. The training covered obedience, off-leash work, board-and-train, and behavior modification and the results have lasted. Today, he is a confident, well-trained dog who trusts us and can safely navigate real-world situations. The foundation they gave us continues to hold strong, and we regularly attend group training sessions to reinforce skills and keep him progressing. What truly sets Ridgeside apart is the owners. Their support doesn't end when training does. They are always available to help work through any challenges that come up, offer guidance, and genuinely care about every family they train with. You never feel alone in the process. If you're looking for trainers who deliver real, lasting results, especially for dogs with difficult pasts. I cannot recommend Ridgeside K9 Summerville highly enough!

While our dogs were there, we got no communication or indication of anything. When my boyfriend picked our pups up, he felt extremely rushed because of the line and didn't get to talk long to anyone about their stay. I ended up calling myself and literally had to "prod" for answers about how everything went. Only got "they did well" and no details of anything. I know no news is good news, but I could've used a little more detail instead of one word answers and me being the only one talking. The icing on the cake was when our dogs came home, the one who was w other dogs got EXTREMELY sick and the other who was in private play caught the bug 24 hours later from the first. We know anxiety poops after change of scenery/boarding/etc. this was NOT that and our vet needed to prescribe antibiotics because it continued to last into a week and wasn't getting any better. Not saying the bug is anyones fault, but it's the last straw I needed to never go back. Thanks but no thanks!
