Yesterday, I arrived pretty hungry to Heathrow Airport and i wanted to eat something that can fill me for all the flight back home (I hate plane food). After walking around, and seeing only sandwiches places I found Wagamama... the menu at the entrance really got my attention. The plates sound good and the prices were ok. I was not wrong choosing it, I ordered the "Whole wheat noodles with egg, mushrooms and vegetables" and Edamame. The quantity and quality of the food were very good, I really enjoyed the dinner. The service was good too, the hostess found a place for me that even thought was a "share table", I could feel confortable. My waitress was very nice and helpful. Even after finishing my dinner, I wanted to get the soups because they looked so tasty; but I was too full. So... if you have a stop in Heathrow and have cravings for Asian food, go for it... Wagamama will not dissapoint you. Supposedly they opened locations in Boston and New York so I'll take my wife to get her opinion. :) read more

This ain't Japanese high cuisine. My generous sized bowl of ramen was respectably filled with meats and vegetables. The miso broth was dull to the point of being flavorless. A dash of soy sauce and judicious sprinkle of chili oil did improve the interest level. Bambie had a donburi bowl with chicken only. Again the flavors were polite to a fault. But I assume that the blandness is intentional to pander to the English palate. I went to this place during my transit in London Heathrow because I was really hungry. I heard of this place after seeing many advertisements for the Boston chain. The chain was also a recommendation by the prominent American travel guide to Europe: Rick Steves. Rick Steves featured it on his most recent video guide to London, though it was the one in the Soho neighbourhood. I decided to get the Miso Ramen, the noodle soup that Rick Steves liked when he ordered it. It was about £9. The chicken inside the soup was a little dry, the noodles were decently good, liked the wakame and the bamboo shoots and the bean sprouts were okay. The soup had a little spice to it, and it was nice and warm. It was an adequately decent soup, but it was not a really great soup. Portions were okay, and service was attentive. The servers were really nice. Overall, if you are really hungry and have quite a bit of cash to spend, this is not a bad place to get an adequate bowl of noodle soup while waiting for your flight in Heathrow Terminal 5. read more

I was very impressed by these airport eats. Flavorful, fresh, relatively healthy and (while it was a sit down experience) respectful of time. Service was efficient and pleasant. Fun drinks and beautiful dishes that made you excited to dig in even before your first bite. *I will concede that I may have been especially hungry as I was just coming off a direct from SFO and hadn't eaten any of the plane food but I'm pretty certain my taste buds were still being mostly honest. I am a typical American who goes to London and complains about the food the whole time there. I know it and I embrace it. So on my way back home, I'm always excited for my trip to Wagamama in Terminal 5. Would I like the food as much if Wagamama were to open in my very own neighborhood? Perhaps not. But it's like a little piece of heaven wandering in here before my flight. It's always busy and I'm usually by myself. They stagger patrons at long picnic table like tables where you are near others but don't feel crowded or intruded upon. They bring out the food as it's ready, so often in random order. I don't mind, as long as my drink comes quickly! :) I always order the same thing, first the edamame with garlic and chili - this is a must for any edamame lover! The seasoning is fabulous and it's big enough to share if you are with a companion. I also order the yaki soba which is fabulous. I'm a noodle snob and this definitely makes the cut for me. So much so that I went out and bought the Wagamama cookbook to try to replicate it at home...but then decided that was too much work and instead I'd keep this as my little London treat. The service is efficient and the food is always high quality. Don't come here if you want personal service and someone fawning all over you for the duration of the meal - that's not what Wagamama is about. I don't know much about this chain except that it is popular in London. So it is a London chain...it's not authentic Japanese food. It is just ok to me but it soothes a craving if you've been out of your comfort zone while traveling. I had the fish curry bowl and it was all right. I also had the pineapple smoothie and that was tasty but that is definitely not Japanese. Service was friendly and attentive though, and I appreciated that they let me leisurely eat while enjoying the airport wifi. read more

Wagamama is one of the few places in the airport where you can have a proper sit down meal for less than £10. Very busy when I arrived at lunchtime. There was a queue outside of about 20 people at one point. Seating took a little while but once I had ordered the food arrived in no time at all and service attentive all things considered Almost every main on the menu hovers around the £10 mark. Veggie options cost less and starters/snacks are about £5. Fresh juice and smoothies cost £4.50. read more

Considering this place is inside of an airport, I was thinking that I was going to be paying a steep price for minimal amounts of food. Luckily, I was wrong. I ordered the spicy ramen bowl with chicken, and it was much better than I expected, but not spectacular. The noodles felt like they should've been cooked for maybe 2 minutes longer, and the chicken tasted a little dry The broth was delicious, and portions for this place were very generous. My companions ordered the teppan noodles, which were pretty good in taste and texture. The menu described the noodles coming with shrimp, but we soon realized that the shrimp was super tiny and looked like it was from a bag of frozen shrimp. Kind of a let down. Again, the portions were generous. Compared to other airport options, I was very pleased with my experience here. The service was quick, the prices were reasonable, and you definitely don't leave hungry. read more

I was thrilled to see a Wagamama after weeks of grabbing less than desirable sandwiches at airports and train stations throughout Europe and the UK. It's similar to other Wagamamas in terms of food quality. Even though there were several servers running around trying to have a quick turnaround time to deliver food and drinks, I received my chicken katsu curry after my boyfriend already finished eating his curry. This was a bit stressful as we were just stopping for a somewhat short layover in London. I'd recommend eating here if you have over an hour before your flight. read more

In addition to soup they have a large menu to choose from -- potstickers, salads, rice bowls and even healthy desserts. We didn't have our gate assignments yet and figured Wagamama was in a safe location to hang out while we waited. I ordered the shio/miso ramen which was a reprieve from all the Spanish food we'd been eating on our trip (delicious, but monotonous after 10 days of the same type of food). Everything was cooked well and tasted good, especially considering the usual quality of airport food. Service was fine, but nothing to write home about. As a big fan of Wagamama in general, finding breakfast dishes at the airport recently was a dream come true. Sad news though - after a (presumably unsuccessful) trial run in the City, T5 seems to be the only London location where it's available. What a shame that is, and shame on you City types for drumming the breakfast dishes out of town! It's a bit odd seeing traditional English snacks like egg on toast and bacon sandwiches on a Wagamama menu but they have to make token gestures like that to bag as much passing trade as they can and are more than forgiven for this slight discrepancy thanks to the other wonderful dishes on offer. Try soba noodle dishes served with egg, cabbage and bacon or egg, cabbage and mushroom for vegetarians, a Wagamama kedgeree and even a proper okonomiyaki or Japanese style omelette. I went for the simple yet delicious sticky rice, miso soup and pickles which, served with the standard complimentary mug of green tea, only set me back £3.85. This is by far one of the best places for noodles, soups and starters. I went to a location in London a few years ago and when I had a 3 hour layover in London on Monday I knew where I was having lunch. The set up of the airport location is geared towards travelers and good when you're by yourself like I was. They have long tables throughout the restaurant that are set up for 1 or a small group and they space the patrons out so you don't feel like you're at the same table as a stranger. I didn't look at the back part of the restaurant but it seems they had some separated tables for groups. I had a nice server who was quick and asked me how long my lay over was, I'm assuming she needed to know if I was in a rush or not. I had a bad cold when traveling Monday and soup was what I needed. I had a ramen soup bowl with tofu and veggies in a vegetable broth and it was delicious. Personally there was a lot of noodles in it for me as I'm a pretty small eater so I left a lot of the noodles, I think my dish along with many others around me could easily be shared. The chili vegetarian salad on the menu looked delicious but I went for the soup with not feeling well. Wagamamas is a must try whether it's this location whilst on a layover or an actual restaurant location in the UK! read more

First: I found Liliana still working at London Heathrow a year to almost the day later! She said that she remembered us and even remembered where we were seated. Wow! I thanked her again and gave her a 5 pound tip, which I had overlooked last year, because I could only think of catching my flight. This time we actually got to eat our food. The menu appears to have expanded, so we decided to try some of the newer offerings as we don't get into London that often. I had the curry itame with prawns. Great curry and coconut milk flavored broth, but the rice noodles were slightly undercooked even before al dente, which would have been fine with me. It's really easy to overcook rice noodles. I know from experience. They gave me a lot more shrimp than I expected. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient--like most of my experience at London Heathrow Airport; which when you think about the volume of passengers and sheer size of the place, is quite miraculous. I was just able to squeeze my 21" carry-on suitcase underneath/into my stool. A very handy feature for the weary traveler. Wagamama's stool at LHR are almost the "fit test" for overhead bin stowage! This way, your bag is kept out of the way of staff and fellow diners, and is a defect security measure. Nice! Overall, a fine experience and an oasis from the swarm of humanity at LHR. read more

The belly rumbled, I responded. With an epic flight on the cards and the promise of plane (plain) food on the menu for the next 10 hours, I was keen on stuffing some real grub down the old gullet. Choice in this terminal is far from it, so maybe it seemed strange that I ended up in here with a breakfast in mind. However, with the assurances of a workmate that 'proper breakfast' featured on the menu, I plonked my botton on the bench and prepared to be ignored for a good ten minutes (I've eaten in Wagamama in Glasgow, so know the score). When I eventually managed to trip my waitress up and scribble 'bring me some cooked meat, eggs and toast' on her wee type pad thingy, I settled down to wait for my coffee to cool down on the counter before I tackled a different waitress to bring me said coffee. When she disappeared in the opposite direction, took off her apron and revealed herself to be a sloth and not infact a human being, I decided it was about time to hit the toilets. Oh. So the toilets are not actually within the restaurant which is a tad odd. Instead, they're about a 5 min walk away. Time maybe for me food to arrive before I got ba.... hahahahahahaha, yeah sorry just remembered where I was eating. Boy that's a funny one. Ok, so eventually got the grub. Wolfed it down. Discovered that my taste buds actually enjoyed what was going in (don't ask for details, I'd already been up for 5 hours by this point) vowed to come back again for a unique take on the regular fry up. Massive restaurant with all you would expect from the delicious wagamama! Staff were super quick at getting us a seat and taking our order. Duck Ramen noodles for me everytime. We ordered our son the kids chicken noodles and he loved it. We had 2 main courses 2 large asahi beer and the kids course. I seem to eat at this Wagamama's about half the time I come to Terminal 5, but I certainly miss the old breakfast menu with the really good corned beef hash on it. Mind you, I can't really complain - corned beef is hardly a staple of an Asian restaurant. This time around we were greeting in a really friendly manner and seated quickly. The food order was taken quickly, although thankfully the waitress confirmed my wife's order as there was something wrong with it. The food arrived quickly - unfortunately they forgot to bring a side of pickles with her chicken cha han (and sadly it no longer comes with a miso soup either). But we managed to flag down another waiter who went and grabbed us a pickle side. The food itself was good; my yaki soba seemed to have far more prawns than usual (I can remember at a visit to a different member of this chain, I literally just got the one prawn in the entire dish), and it seemed to be a far bigger portion than usual. Meanwhile the cha han seemed smaller. The significant issue was that it took ages to get the bill, and since this is in an airport after all, time is crucial here. At least the delay didn't cause any problems, and the meal itself was passable. read more

Was waiting here at Heathrow for my connecting flight and checked yelp to see what they got. Didn't expect a Ramen place here. I just came from Hawaii where I had lots of Ramen/Udon/Saimin and whatever so I was pretty excited to try this one. Ordered the Chili Ramen with Sirloin steak and didn't get disappointed. The broth was really good, the noodles perfectly cooked and the meat was tender. This place combines the classics with nice new ideas giving it a fancy upgrade instead of just serving the Ramen how it always is. I'm usually a fan of Wagamama, especially when I'm dining alone on a business trip as I was on this occasion. The quick service and canteen-style seating suits this type of dining. But this was a distinctly unsatisfactory experience compared to previous trips to their other locations. I knew what I wanted to going in and tried to order straight away but was asked to wait for my server. Fair enough, but I was then left sitting for more than 10 minutes. The restaurant was busy though, so I was willing to forgive at this point. Once I placed my order I settled in with a book to wait for my food, but again this took at least twice as long as usual, not what you want from an airport location between flights. First time I ever felt lucky that my flight was delayed so I didn't need to worry! I'd ordered the chicken gyoza and chicken chilli ramen, normally two of my favourite things on the menu, which eventually arrived together after my long wait. The ramen is a reasonably simple dish that leans heavily on a depth of flavour in the stock to give it taste, unfortunately it was little more than salty water making the whole thing quite bland. The qyoza were the real disappointment though, the filling had the consistency of a processed chicken nugget and the wrapper on the dumpling was unpleasantly chewy and hard. By the time I'd finished my meal the restaurant had started to empty out but it still took me 5-10 minutes to catch the eye of a server to ask for my bill. Definitely not the level of service or quality of food I'd expect from Wagamama. read more

It's good noodles but I question the quantity I was given for takeout. Running late, I ordered breakfast noodles to take away while I headed to pick up some electronics needed but left behind. On coming back I was handed my bag and went off to the gate. Opening up the container though, I found it roughly half full of noodles, nothing like what I would get when ordering a meal inside a Wagamama elsewhere. Everybody seems to say that the portions are generous, so maybe it was just a one off. However, it'll make me think twice before heading there again... The noodles themselves were good, bacon, egg and mushroom stir fried with noodles and a topping of fresh tomato. I just would have liked more, especially at the price I paid... read more

The Wagamama at Heathrow Terminal 5 was actually the first Wagamama I visited. When waiting for my flight in the early afternoon, I did not really want to have a full English breakfast, I did not want to have some pub food just before a flight and so I looked for alternatives, when I noticed Wagamama. Wagamama at Heathrow Terminal 5 is a light an efficient place, just what you need when you want some quality food but do not have too much time. I must admit that I have not tried too many different dishes from the menu, but I think the chicken katsu curry makes a good meal, and if you think you need more, you could get a starter as well. In addition to food, Wagamama also offers an interesting selection of fresh juices. This is perhaps what makes Wagamama stand out most, the juices. Overall, I think Wagamama is definitely one of the best places to eat in Terminal 5. read more

I probably shouldn't have had my first (and now only) Wagamama experience in an airport. It certainly felt like I was being churned through a system rather than having a nice meal. They gave people menus while they waited in the queue, and then expected orders to be placed immediately on being seated. I found the menu a bit confusing but ordered something that sounded reasonable. As I waited, I realised I was surrounded by people either complaining about the food, or having to leave without eating due to needing to catch a flight. When my food arrived, my salmon was incredibly over-cooked to the point of being dry, and the noodles were ... I don't know how to describe it. Gummy/doughy/left a weird kind of feeling/film in my mouth. Minus the salmon, though, the dish as a whole had a nice enough flavour and was satisfying. The portion was also huge. Someone on the table seated next to me asked what I'd eaten as she thought it looked great. As I told her it wasn't great and wouldn't recommend it, our waitress approached and overheard me. Her response was to laugh and walk away. Yeah... ok. It wasn't a terrible experience, but it definitely wasn't one I would repeat. Ever. read more
