Cute ice-cream shop! Flavors were delicious and scoops were of a healthy size! My 2,4 and 5 year old all would be satisfied with the smallest cup they had. Only downside there were a few communication issues that had to be cleared up so be sure to watch so you can correct (which I was able to) staff were so friendly and kind! Service was terrible - walked in 9:55 and had little kids - they were mad a family getting ice cream together was looking to enjoy an evening ..... they stared and gave us nasty looks as we sat outside. We asked for one last cup of I cream and instead of filling it, they half it and just made us pay so they can lock the door. I worked in customer service and in an ice cream shop for years and while it is a long day, customers can be rough - not really nice to take it out on us. We received a coupon from Moose Tooth Grill for free toppings. Both of my children have peanut allergies and this definitely was not allergy friendly. One look at the toppings gave me anxiety. They were all mixed together. When questioned if they had anything delegate I was met with a deer in the headlights look. The hard ice cream melted as soon as it was scooped and the ice cream from the machine dripped within 1 mins. The ice cream lacked flavor that even my 8 year old said it was gross.. Make sure you do the calculations here of what you order before you pay or you might be overcharged. We were overcharged here. I thought the amount the guy ringing us up said was a little high but instead of saying something then I just went ahead and paid. But since it was bothering me we went back and told them we think we might've been overcharged so another guy did the math while the guy who rang us up had a bad attitude about it. Come to find out, yes we were overcharged by $3 so the guy helping us was very nice he gives the guy with an attitude a look and asks him where he came up with that amount. Him and another guy (maybe the manager)apologize and give us our money back while the guy who overcharged us just stands there with a guilty look on his face. Is he pocketing the money that he overcharges customers? Why was he so angry? We didn't come in there confrontational. If you come here just make sure they are not charging you extra money for ice cream. read more

Scoops has ice cream. For me, that's almost automatically worth three stars. Luckily, their ice cream is pretty good, thus the extra star. There's not a ton to say about the place. The ice cream is good, and there are a fair amount of topping available. They have some interesting flavors. Banana cream pie was wonderful, and the wife raved about the strawberry. Didn't try the soft serve. Did have an ice cream float on my second visit, and it was good as well. It's located on the northern end of the main strip through town, just a bit beyond the park, so the crowds are a bit thinner up there. There are a few out door tables available as well as counter stool seating inside. Prices are higher than your local hometown shop, but right on par for Lake George. The girls working there always seem friendly and don't have their faces glued to cell phones, so that tops the service in a lot of places in the village. In summary: ice cream, good. I can't really speak to the actual ice cream at Scoops since I was abstaining from eggs when I went there, so this review is solely for the frozen yogurt. They only had 2 flavors of frozen yogurt available - vanilla and sea salt caramel. Both sounded appealing to me so I asked for a swirl of both expecting an even mix in my cone. Instead, I got the caramel all the way at the bottom of the cone and vanilla on top. I guess this may have been because of the way the soft serve machines were set up independently so this is more of an FYI for Yelpers rather than a factor in my rating. What IS the biggest contributing factor to my rating however, is the taste! Both tasted somewhat watery, like frozen milk chips rather than having a nice thick frozen yogurt consistency. The flavor wasn't great either. In addition, I was annoyed that I didn't know in advance that getting a cone would limit my choice of toppings - the person behind the counter was hesitant to give me crushed Butterfinger because apparently it wouldn't "stick". Also, I couldn't get the bigger waffle cone because they only give it to you if you get a medium or large scoop. Bah, humbug! read more

Wanting a post-kayaking treat, my husband and I walked the whole length of downtown Lake George Village looking for the right ice cream parlor that stood out to us, only to end up at the first one we passed, Scoops. There are a dozen or more flavors listed on the wall... make sure you read those and don't just rely on what is in the display case, because some are behind the counter not on display. I had a scoop of Coffee Chip (coffee ice cream with chocolate chips) and a scoop of Cookie Dough in a Chocolate Dirt waffle cone. You can tell the ice cream is very fresh. It was some of the best ice cream I've ever had. it was a beautiful day, so we sat outside on the bench and enjoyed our ice cream. Must return to try more flavors! read more

Somehow, these folks manage to make order out of chaos. Four people behind the counter taking orders for several multiple-person parties, and they got everything right and charged everyone correctly. We went twice and ordered a lot of different things. My only complaint was they they skimp on the root beer in the root beer floats, probably for timing reasons. The next time I go, and there will be a next time, I'll ask them to take it slow and do it right. read more
