Waggers is fabulous. Today was the first time we used them to groom our King Charles Spaniel. They knew exactly how to get hair out of ears to help prevent infections and they did everything we asked and did not cut what we did not want cut. New to asheville. New puppy. First grooming. I was very anxious bringing my new pup for his first groom. I have bathed my poodle at home and eventually want to cut myself. But, need a couple professional cuts first. I brought poodle pics indicating the "style" i wanted. Not every poodle needs to look like he is competing at madison Square gardens. Picked up my boy about 2 hrs. Later and the cut was perfect. I have a relatively macho looking toy poodle who is not embarassed by any superfluous puffs or shaved spots. Ears are clean . Today was our first experience with @WaggersDogDepot and we were very pleased. They're kind and they obviously love dogs. We brought Toby, our 1 1/2 year old Bernedoodle, who is very active and was overdue for grooming. Cristina (sp?) took on the challenge and did a GREAT job. She came out afterward and spent time with us to explain everything she had done and what to expect going forward. Would recommend them and will certainly be back. read more

Have been coming here for several years. No issues until the past year or so when the customer service absolutely plummeted. Always tipped very well in hopes they would take care of us - obviously useless now. Have two furry friends that are our children - had to cancel (a week in advance) in October because my wife nor I could get off work. Was then told the next available appointment was in January (+4 months later) because they "lost a groomer" but would be put on "priority" for cancellations. We didn't gripe or complain, we just wanted our boys groomed but we never got a call. Here we are in January and I get a call the day before my dogs' appointment saying "a groomer quit yesterday so we have to cancel your appointment." After I had already received a text message confirming this appointment we had been waiting 4 months for. Next available appt isn't for over a month and was told we'd be put on "priority" as if that's some concession. Same excuse as 4 months ago, no reasoning as to why my dogs get cancelled but not others. And no apologies. After coming here for over 3 years. Absolutely pathetic - will never be coming back and would not recommend. Everything is for a dollar profit and no sense of care or community - the crux of what makes Asheville. read more

First ever grooming appointment for our new shelter dog and had a 10-star experience at Waggers. When I called to make the appointment I was given clear expectations and all of my questions were answered thoroughly. I am new to the dog-grooming world and they helped walk me through what to expect. Liz gave our terrier an amazing cut. She cleaned up her face and paws but left some of her natural scruffiness as I asked. This dog has never looked or smelled so good and she seemed to have enjoyed herself as well. We took our Golden to Waggers based on the reviews here and boy were we wrong! We told them we wanted him groomed to the standard and apparently they have no idea what that is. They didn't touch his ears and I don't think they even combed the hair there. They hacked at his feet and feathers and when we pointed all this out they said that what they had done was their standard and kept saying that they had done it right. I have attached a few photos of what our baby looked like when we got him back. A note: they hadn't touched his ears until we commented on it. The ear photos are after they took him back and did what they do with ears. Note the lack of grooming at all on the ear hair where it wasn't chopped at. Note the part shaved, part lopped off hair around his feet. Note the hacking at his bottom feathers and leg feathers. We looked on the NextDoor App and found that everyone on there had the same or similar experience. To end an otherwise terrible experience and because we pointed all of these things out to the groomer and owner, the groomer, when we were leaving said," Goodbye Merlin! We love you!. Too bad you have such terrible parents." Terrible parents only because we expected a good grooming from people obviously incapable of doing one. read more

I am really grateful to this place! They do a GREAT JOB and they are worth it. I just brought my two girls in, one had a poison oak infection, and they did a good job with her. They created a diagram so I could see what was going on because it was under all that fur. I went straight to the VET and got her shots and taken cared of. Had they not told me I would have not known. Such nice people and I am a big fan of their work and also communication. They actually are care and are passionate which makes ALL the difference. I can't praise this dog grooming salon enough! My golden had turned into a stinky mess!! What I got was a beautiful perfectly executed grooming, toenails clipped, undercoat gone, paws trimmed, ears trimmed and clean, but trimmed . Absolutely beautiful! read more

Most importantly? My dogs are happy here... I have a lovely Newfie with awful skin allergies requiring grooming every two weeks. When I moved to Asheville and asked around, Everyone recommended Waggers. My girls (the lab goes just to keep the Newfie company) have been there about 24 times a year for the past 5 yrs. I will admit, I had my reservations with the change of ownership a few years back; but Rocky and the team have continued the quality we had come to expect. They have been wonderful keeping track of special shampoos, following the dermatologists' requests, and generally monitoring her condition. AND, my pups look and smell great! read more

Less than impressed. Being new to the area, I did a search on reviews looking for a groomer. Because their reviews were so good, I called to see if they could just trim my dog's nails. She is a short haired mix, so that is usually all that she needs done. They told me to bring her over. They took her back & within a couple of minutes, they brought her back & said they couldn't do it because she wouldn't stay still! Do all dogs just stand still while you work on them? She has had people trim her nails lots of times before without any issues at all, so I don't know what the issue was. Took her somewhere else the next day and got the job done without any drama or comment. read more

I found Waggers shortly after they opened! Immediately new I had found the place to take my dog for grooming. The staff are ALWAYS nice, patient, kind, professional, and genuinely care about my baby. When it is time for my girl to be groomed, I ask her if she wants to go see BRANDI at Waggers and her ear perk up, and her tail starts wagging! That is very comforting knowing that she is happy. It speaks volumes about Brandi as a groomer, and Rob and Chris, the Owners! I highly recommend Waggers to everyone. I love this place!! I recommend it to everyone i know with dogs. Great nail trimming prices, and my dogs are NOT easy. They've carfully groomed my 3 pound longhaired chihuahua and gave him an adorable summer cut. Amd trimmed my frenchie and dachshund nails for me even with almost no notice in the afternoons. AVOID We would never take our dog there again. My wife instructed Liz to take (only) 1" off of our Maltipoo Puppy - Instead Liz pulled closer to two inches off and turned our charming teddy bear into a sheared generic puppy cut - Horrible Worse she missed some obvious knots and my wife had to return just to get to get the basic incompetent cutting completed. They were very apologetic - yada- yada -yada, but the basic fact remains that they do crappy work and don't follow very simple instructions. Take your dog to be groomed at your own risk. We were on vacation in Asheville and Waggers was recommended to us when our cocker needed a bath. They were able to get us in and Amanda did a beautiful job. DO NOT bring your dog to Waggers!!!! We brought our dogs there to be groomed and one of our dogs got an eye infection and a skin infection. The skin infection appeared to be caused by someone striking my dog with some sort of grooming devise very hard on her side and dragging it across her skin. She had little holes all in her skin after the vet shaved it and scratch marks all over her side. She was very, very sick for over a week and caused us over $700 in medical bills. I think the place has changed ownership recently and the new owner Chris said the best he could do for us is refund our money we paid for the grooming of one dog. I can not imagine a person who thinks it is acceptable to hit an animal hard enough to cause holes and scratches! This kind of person does not need to be working with animals! BEWARE OF WAGGERS!!!!!!!! Update 5/28/13-- After three weeks the scabs finally starting coming off her side. They are now almost all gone. She has itched and scratched for a month. Yes both dogs were groomed at the same time BUT by different groomers. She was perfectly fine when we brought her in. When we picked them up her eye was already producing discharge which we dismissed at the time for just maybe getting soap in her eye. The next day she barely moved and wouldn't eat. We initially took her to REACH but after three days she was not better so we took her to our regular Vet. The vet stated she was impacted because her side hurt her so much to squat to use the bathroom. This is when they found the gouges in her side. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I was a big fan of Wagger's before they changed hands, and used pay for full price grooming for my large German Shepherd. Now they're under new management, and I'm happy to say the staff is just as friendly and dog oriented as they were before. Life circumstances have changed for me and my dog, so I'm now a customer of their "wash your own dog" service. They have walk-in tubs -- albeit with steep ramps -- generous and high-quality grooming supplies, helpful people to give advice, and a great price. They offer only two timeslots a day in one tub for this self-service availability. Compared to the other alternatives I've looked at, it's worth making an appointment and waiting. I tried washing my girl at the Soapy Dog but the old-fashioned clawfoot tub's were too hard for my aging back or a sore hipped to dog. On the whole, I recommend this location for full-service and for do it yourself. Let's keep these nice people in business, so we can keep this option out there! read more

We're delighted Waggers users. Our older standard poodle has received tremendous attention, care and grooming from the fine folks @ Waggers for the past two years. She comes home relaxed, clean, happy and gorgeous (Thank you Bobbi!). She's been offered occasions to go out and to rest a bit as needed, which we appreciate tremendously. There's a sense of calm and care as soon as you step in the door and our girl picks up on that. I never worry about her... We think the price is certainly fair as the level of care and attention to detail is outstanding. Waggers is definitely 5 woofs on the chart. Thanks for all you do! I can't recommend Waggers highly enough. I brought my Shih Tzu puppy to them today for her very first grooming. I know how much she dislikes being bathed and brushed (by me), so I was pretty nervous about how she would do. But they took their time with her - playing with her and basically bonding with her. And from all accounts, the grooming experience went smoothly. When I went to pick her up, I found a happy, relaxed dog who looked like a million bucks! Thanks, folks at Waggers. You rock! read more

I recently moved to Asheville, and needed to find a new groomer for my chug, Max. I had originally used PetSmart in Charlotte for the last few years, and had great results. I had planned to use PetSmart here as well, but after reading reviews, there was NO way I would take him there. I asked a work friend where she took her beautiful sheep dog, and Waggers was the answer. I called immediately, and was lucky enough to get Chris, one of the owners, who was so helpful and kind in answering all my dog mama questions. My chug is high anxiety, and is a little attached to me. I was a little concerned about how he would react, but they were so gentle and loving with him, he LOVED it! I will be taking him there until I leave Asheville for my next adventure. You cannot go wrong with Waggers! read more
