I took my dog, rebel here. He is a great Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherd...so lots of hair lol. He has really bad anxiety and hates loud noises. We thought we would never be able to take him to a groomer. But the people here did an amazing job. They were so gentle with him and really accommodated every part of it to make him comfortable. I will definitely be bringing him back as long as I live here and recommend this place to anyone especially people with bigger anxious dogs. Willow girl is a cute golden retriever/border collie mix who found her way into our hearts and home. While she's syrupy sweet, sometimes her mane grows out of control- I mean the toe fur! SO MUCH TOE FUR! I found Pawsitivity Pet Spa on good ol' Yelp. The puppies all looked so happy in the pictures, it totally sold me. I called in and was greeted by a friendly voice who went over what I needed for Willow (wash/shaping and de-shed treatment before I lose my mind picking up hair tufts), and scheduled me about a week out. When I brought her in I was greeted with smiles and cute poodle pup who was waiting for a new play mate! I even got there a touch early and they didn't mind taking her in. I saw that they had spa add ins, 3 for $15, so I decided to add in aromatherapy, teeth cleaning/breath freshening, and nail pawlish on her toenails! Squeeee! They called me about 4 hours later and I came back to the most adorable, sassiest lil thing I ever did see! She looked flawless, smelled so good, and they even threw in a cute bandanna that matched her toes! They even gave me a first timer's goodie bag with treats for Willow and a free facial for Willow next time she comes in. A+ experience!! I was very nervous about finally taking my 2 year old American Eskimo, Schpoozi, to get groomed for the first time in his life. It took me 2 years to even be able to brush him myself, and even now he gives me a dirty side eye if I spend too much time on his "pants". Honestly, I had expected Rachel and her staff to *maybe* get through the shampoo(which I've only managed to do 3x ever), most likely just a brush out. I told them it's ok to not push him, because I'd rather they do less than make him super uncomfortable. To my surprise, they were able to give him the most adorable hair cut on top of everything else. And he looked super comfortable playing and hanging out at the spa, with other dogs, not kenneled up! For a year now, Schpoozi had a terrible stain on his "mane" from his collar/tags that wouldn't come off when I shampooed/brushed. After his spa day, he was white as snow, head to toe, no more stain. I thought it was there forever, till it's shaved. But his neck fluff was still intact, so they somehow got it off. Also, we went on a pretty big hike 2 days after the spa day- not a single spur on him. We've done this hike so many times, and he usually get at least a handful on his "old pants". Now instead of pants (check out the before/after pics), he's got the cutest fluffiest round booty with NO SPURS after the same hike! And I had worried that the shampooing would rid his natural oil that keeps dirt off of his coat, but whatever product they used kept dirt off like his old coat use to. While I'm on the subject of trails, he had very rough paw pads prior to the spa...they were soft and smooth after the appointment. I've never managed to get any paw conditioner or mushers wax on those paws before. In summary, here's a list of what I LOVE that they've done (that we're noticeable): Shampoo (quality stuff that didn't dry his skin out- we would notice because he has Eskimo skin- very sensitive and often itchy) Cute and functional cut Paw treatment Mane destain Nail trim/buff removed tough and old matts kennel free stress free Disclaimer: we did encounter some scheduling issues, and I was rescheduled twice...I almost didn't want to give this place a chance, but was so glad that my mind was changed. You will not disappoint with the level of customer service for both humans and fur babies here We cannot wait for my pup to roll in something gross so we can bring him in again! I booked a Full Grooming and Bath Service a month out for $70. I had already booked twice and confusion online and via phone as why it didnt save bc of a waiting list. Anywho, my Sister recommended this place as the owner is her friend. So as I'm driving to the Apt, I call to let them know I'm coming from far away and will be 10-15 min late. The girl on phone said 'No problem at all! thanks so much for callign to tell us!". When I arrive 13 min late, I chat with groomer/front desk girl and told her I didnt want the full Groom Service anymore if that is ok bc he was just groomed the week before. Please Just do feet and face, not even fanny ;). So thinking it would be a lower cost of course since hardly a haircut at all on our English Springer Spaniel. 'Feet face & fanny' trim is usually $20 universally & A Bath approx $40. So when I come to pick him up, he is still Wet so no blowdry as they say is part of big cost. His nails scratch me and make huge welts and bleeding from his nails not being grinded well. I ask how much I owe and she says $100. I ask how can it be MORE than original $70 FullGroom Service, when I canceled the FullGroom part and only did Bath & feet/face? The new young girl at front desk just seems uncomfortable and not willing to share with me why on anything. I keep gently asking please to explain the breakdown of pricing to me. She says The Business increased all pricing by %20 since I booked that and shes sorry I didnt get the email. I asked if they can honor the price I was given when they sold me the service. No. I asked how its so high, she says "It's a $90. fee to wash this breed no matter what haircut they do". This part I still dont comprehend bc how can a full groom haircut on a large down be same price as a 5 min clean up on feet? It's a $90. bath she says. A $90. bath bc they blow out dry and use fancy shampoo & grind nails, clean ears. lol He wasnt even dry, ears dirty inside still & nails done poorly were worse than when he went in. Then, they charged me a $10. late fee saying that after 15 min of tardiness its added on. I said I arrived 13 min late not 15. she just stared at me. Needless to say, I was so bummed about this experience and treated so weirdly and will never be going back. I drove over 30 min to support her Biz each way but was a total fail and waste of money and time. Too bad bc I was gong to use them from now on monthly. read more

I took my puppy to Pawsitivity for her first cut. I was, I'll admit, 15 minutes late and was advised that she might not be dry by the time I picked her up. She wasn't dry, my fault, but she also wasn't groomed. There isn't much to do on her breed, however there are some essentials. The hair in her ears should have been trimmed up and it wasn't. There should have been some attention to a sanitary cut, there wasn't. The hair between her pads should have been addressed, it wasn't. There is also assorted hair at her elbows, her inner thighs, and at the top of her head that should have been clipped, trimmed, something! None of that was done. So, essentially, I was charged $90.00 to bathe a 12 pound puppy who had had a bath less than 5 days earlier! I called and asked to speak to the owner and was assured she would call on Monday. It's now Tuesday evening and no call. I think I'll go to grooming school, it will be worlds cheaper, or, I'll take her elsewhere where she actually will be groomed! Now they are saying that I have never taken a dog, let alone this dog, to them. My dog, Piper, was there March 27 at 8:00. There is no getting away from their incompetence by saying my dog was never their. Perhaps they don't have a record because they didn't do anything with her except leave her wet from a bath. read more

We were not impressed with this, our first visit to Pawsitivity. First, let me acknowledge upfront that we do have a dog that tends to be anxious (1 year old Bernedoodle) and I explained that when I registered for his grooming appt. The appt was for a bath, trim and nails cut. Unfortunately, after his bath the groomer tried to dry him with a hair dryer and he gets anxious at the sound of the dryer. Therefore, due to his anxiety, they didn't get to his haircut and yet still charged us the full price of $106. That's right, they charged us $106 for a bath and toe nail clip. Totally ridiculous. On top of that, when I picked up our dog, he was obviously agitated and the staff had done nothing to settle him down. Our prior groomer had no problems with our dog and never used a dryer. The only reason we tried Pawsitivity is that our prior groomer lost 3 staff all at once and had to cancel all of her appointments for the day of our appt. Had Pawsitivity made an effort to work with us, and realized that charging us $106 for a bath and nail clip, was totally unacceptable, I might have made different review. What a place of love! My greyhound, willie Nelson stayed here a few hours for daycare while we went up to check out the Biltmore. We aren't from the area, so I was a little nervous leaving my baby somewhere unfamiliar. You walk into Pawsitivity and you feel like your home. The love and kindness made me feel so fine leaving him there and let me tell you. He had so much fun, when we came back to pick him up we didn't get our usual warm reception. My husband and I just got a retired racing greyhound a few months ago and it was past time for nails and a bath. We're new to dog ownership and honestly I was a tad scared to do his nails myself. I booked an appointment for the week before Christmas. Probably should have thought through that better. We dropped our nervous Nelly off in a new environment with other dogs there, one of which would not stop barking while my husband and I were there. Half an hour later they all and say that he's just too nervous today to do anything but that they realllllly want to try again. The lady who called (my memory for names sucks, sorry) was really apologic but I knew my dogwas nervous and honestly, wasn't surprised. But I was suprised at how much she wanted a second chance so we scheduled another try on Jan 2 when she figured it'd be slower. I dropped him off and he did not want to go inside but we managed. When I went to pick him up they told me he was nervous for the first 15 or so minutes but then chilled out. I was shocked at how happy the dog I picked up was. There are many factors at play for his 180 change of heart, the spa was not hectic, it was chill and calm. The other dogs there that day were wonderfully behaved. The groomers had time to pamper him since it wasn't the crazy Christmas season. He had also started anti anxiety medication about a week before going. These all worked in my specific situation. I'm most impressed with how eager they were to see him again after that first try they really wanted him to have a fantastic time. I highly recommend any Asheville dog parents try out pawsitivity spa! Your dog will be treated like royalty. read more

My little pup (Lamb Chop) started his life being terrified of the groomers. He was aggressive and would sometimes bite the people working with him. I had eventually given up on groomers altogether and tried doing it at home. I'm so glad that I found Rachel & team at Pawsitivity. She started slow with my dog, bathing him once every 1-2 weeks and he eventually came to love going to the spa! She has done such a great job getting him used to the environment and different treatments. She always tells me how proud she is of him and how he behaved. He also loves the chance to play with the other dogs at the spa while he's waiting for my return. Lamb Chop is a toy maltese and he gets really bad tear stains under his eyes. Pawsitivity has a White Tea Facial treatment that is amazing and my dog loves it. He's also very fashionable and Pawsitivity is more than equipped to keep up with his latest doggie fashion demands. Lamb Chop is always sporting a feather extension in his ear and the occasional mohawk hair style. Now if only I could find a spa this nice for myself... read more

I called letting them know I had to brush my dog when I got home and was not happy with the service she told me she would be happy to give me a free de shed package if I paid another $58 to bathe my dog again!!! Seriously?? In the spa bag they give you at check out it states if you are not happy to contact her so she can rectify the situation. Her response was I am sorry you were unhappy!! I brought my baby here for a groom while we were vacationing in Asheville.The groomers name is Rachel ,she was very pleasant and professional.There was some confusion with our date & timing of the grooming appointment and she didn't have a slot for the day ;however she went ahead and honored the appointment time which we were given .i was surprised actually because my boy is quite large (160 pounds)and would require lot of time & effort .It was kind and professional of her ;which is rare to find these days .coming to the cut she definitely knows her job well because I was very highly satisfied with the way my boy was styled and smelled by the end of the day although I felt the price was a little much more than the regular salon .also they have a daycare which is is decently priced .overall I would definitely bring my pup back here . They have shifted to a new place just a block or two down the road so make it a point to ask their address before you go . read more

I wish I could review the actually grooming however I cannot seem to get an appointment. Scheduled 1.5 months ago and was cancelled without a phone call or email. The appointment went great. Great customer service. Since there was lots of snow and Ice on roads they had to reschedule our initial appointment and they were able to get us in right away. They took great care of my girl. She smells great, fur is fluffy and not shedding as much as usual so they must have done a real good job brushing her out. It's a bit costly but I completely undertand the time and effort it takes to groom my pup cause I usually do it myself. We took our 10 month old pups here for a brushing, wash and trim. For starters ... they absolutely refused to cut their hair, claiming the dogs would get sunburn with such short hair. Our babies are indoor dogs who spend the majority of their time out of direct sunlight. This fact did not change their mind. The prices for what turned out to be just a bath and brush ("general bath treatment with no spa treatment") was ... astronomical. $120?!? Complete bull. We will N O T be going back. read more

I am absolutely amazed with this place! This was my dogs first time at the pet spa and we had the BEST first experience. For starters, I made my appointment ahead of time and the people on the phone were very helpful and sweet, they answered all my questions thoroughly. My dog is a lab/husky mix and mostly sheds like a husky, so I was looking for a place that could help me diminish shedding. After just ONE visit my dogs shedding was reduced to almost NONE-to say I was amazed is an understatement. She also smelled so good and was very calm afterwards. If you have a dog that sheds a lot, you can't go anywhere else except Pawsitivity Pet Spa plus they cater to just about any other need. Rachel and her team are awesome! My dog might be the most anxious dog there ever was. Her name is Nelly for a reason, she is very nervous. I have always been hesitant to take her to a groomer for fear that I would traumatize her. I have taken her to Pawsitivity 3 or 4 times now, and she leaves every time wagging her tail with happiness. She gets to romp around with other dogs and is never kept in a kennel. While she is being groomed she often falls asleep she is so relaxed. While dog grooming might seem excessive, especially for someone like me who is on a budget, it is a luxury I indulge in every couple months that keeps our dogs coat shinny and our house smell free! We loved Pawsitivity! We brought 2 of our 3 dogs there to get their summer haircuts. Rachel did a beautiful job. One of our dogs is a big Labradoodle with LOTS of fur and her shave and shaping of his head were great! Our other dog is a Bearded Collie/Terrier mix and her shave was equally great. Both dogs were washed, ears cleaned, toenails done, and the collie/terrier had her glands released. Pawsitivity is a beautiful shop, very inviting for both humans and dogs and super duper clean!
