Needed to board my 5 year old Doberman for 5 days. I went with 1/2 day at daycare and a bye bye bath. It was our first time here and Jaylen made check in super easy, I mentioned my concerns with my dogs tendencies to eat toys and balls and she put my mind at ease. Worst grooming I have ever seen. I downloaded this app just to leave a review because normally I don't care enough with bad service to take the time, but they deserve all the bad reviews they can get. They shaved my golden retriever, we asked for his normal cut and they shaved him bare in some spots. They called us and said "we cut it too short in some spots" but it was an utter hack job. They then lied and doubled down and said we asked for him to be shaved, this is a lie because I know cutting a goldens hair too short can lead to permanent damage. They must not know that. They offered no apology, no refund, nothing. They should not be in business. read more

We've been customers here since they opened at their old location, but recently we've seen service decline. Most recently we had our dog there for an overnight with an exit bath and nail trim scheduled. When we picked him up he smelled like other dogs yet and his nails were not touched. When I asked about it they said he got an exit bath at 10:15 am. We didn't pick him up until 4. When I asked about this they said it was it's normal for them to do that. I disagreed and submitted a comment on their web site with my displeasure in the quality of service. That day an upcoming reservation was cancelled without notice or explanation. I went into the office to inquire, and the assistant manager I spoke to said it was company policy to determine I no longer wanted to bring my dog there anymore because of the complaint. I have not had the time or the interest to review anything until today. This really hit us right in the heart. We were out of town and we boarded our 16 week and 1 year old puppies for two nights. My wife went all crazy with the options adding anything from the camera to the puppy walks and puppy package etc etc. of course having the camera she was watching them non stop, just hoping to see them play and see them having fun. Instead what she saw broke our hearts. Our 16 week old puppy barely left the small cubicle. She kept on running to the door maybe someone would get her. She peed on the floor many times while waiting. Both of them were on the cot for hours at a time and we are not talking about the night time. The morning of the day I wrote the review I called them immediately when they opened and I calmly explained my dismay. The manager said he has it all logged in that the dogs were out and playing multiple times and our little puppy even has pictures on Facebook. Well I guess he is either making things up, someone fibbed the records or the camera was lying as my wife left it on all the time( no joke, she did!!!) oh and the pictures on Facebook, there were three of them or so of HER BROTHER ( who looks just like her but he is 30lb bigger) My wife called her sister who picked them up immediately. Our year old wouldn't stop licking her face, and our 16 week old who JUST HAD her grooming smelled and was covered in urine. Shame on you! Is this how you treat your own dogs? I thought because of the reviews this would be a good place to go, however I left my 9 month old golden retriever with them for 4 nights and when I went to pick him up we noticed when we got home he had several scars on his tongue, and scratches on his face and apperantly in his eye as well... we noticed when he was rubbing it and it got very red and started watering. They never called or said anything about it after they handed him back to me... which makes me wonder if they were hoping I wouldn't notice or clearly weren't paying attention to him in group play. now I understand dogs play but if it's hard enough to leave scratches and scars I think that's a bit far... won't be return I suggest you don't leave you pet with them either read more

We have had multiple stays at this location hoping for better experience each time and there have been questionable things each time we go. Issues ranged from paying for grooming and having a sopping wet dog with dirt on him still on pickup, improper harness placement leading to him almost running out the front door on pickup, blaming my dog for breaking a TV during boarding with a camera watching the whole thing but never showing us that he did it and saying with was broken to start with when we called originally during that stay. An utterly disappointing experience for how much you pay with terrible communication each time we have had an issue. read more

Two star review because I have had good experiences with day boarding. I would not recommend for overnight boarding. Just picked up my dog and his paws were notably stained with urine. I'm concerned that either they didn't let him out to go potty frequently enough, or they are not adequately cleaning the kennel. I was disappointed in the quality of care for the price. read more

We've been taking our dog to Wags since they opened. We love the staff and how clean everything is. Plus our doggie gets lots of attention and love when we can't be there. We use Wags weekly for 1 overnight boarding due to us being busy with our job. And they've been consistent every week! Wags is our dogs home away from home and we couldn't be happier! read more

I'm not even sure where to begin... I would give a zero if I could for the rating. My husband and I took a tour of this facility a week before boarding our two dogs. It seemed like a nice, clean facility. I was a little concerned, however, about the number of dogs in play groups. It seemed like too many to me. My husband and I discussed this, but against our better judgement, decided to board our dogs there anyway. We thought it might just have been a busier day than usual for some reason. When we dropped off our dogs, I also thought it was very strange that they asked very few questions. Normally, at other boarding facilities, they want to know all about your dogs' habits etc... This place asked basically nothing. That was another thing my husband and I discussed after the drop off. Again, should have been a huge red flag! Play groups must ALWAYS be over crowded. I just now saw another customer review from 2 weeks ago that states Wags does not follow the law for number of dogs allowed in play groups. Not surprising... I think they have several regular clients with dogs that are in "daycare" play groups every single day of the week. Your dog will ONLY be put in play groups IF they have room, which they most likely won't.... They will tell you that they have room in their play groups for your dog and then not give them the play time. They tell you they will do a "temperment" test on your dog before they will be allowed in play group. I completely understand and agree with this procedure. I signed both of my dogs up for 1/2 day of play group every day for 7 of the 10 days we had to board them. When I picked them up, I was told that one of my dogs only was in play group one time (they say she didn't pass the tempermant test) which cannot be true. She has passed at three other boarding facilities in the area just fine, with no problems. They just didn't have room for her. Our other dog was given play group 3 times. I asked why she didn't receive all of the days of play gorup I signed her up for. They told me it was too crowded, and they didn't have room. What??? I asked the front desk staff why nobody contacted me about this situation. They had no response. So my two dogs were there 8 nights (10 days) and did not receive the play time I had signed them up for. I feel horrible that they were stuck in those kennels for 10 days with basically NO EXERCISE at all. The owner (or a staff member) should have contacted me to see if I would like to add some walks or SOME sort of exercise instead. I received no phone call the entire time. They DO NOT care about the well-being of your dog. No matter what they tell you, or how they appear on the outside, they really only want your money. They get you to board your dog, then tell you after the fact that they couldn't really take care of them as they had promised afterall...because they were too crowded. This is completely unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. Hugely disappointed in this "Pet Resort"...hardly a resort. More like taking them to a cage and hoping they get fed. One of my dogs came home with two days worth of food, obviously not fed to her!??? My other dog had no food left over. Explain that one? I sent the exact same number of servings (individually portioned out in zip-lock bags) for each day they were to be there. So one of my dogs was NOT FED FOR TWO DAYS!??? When leaving, I had to ask for the dog bed I left with them. They acted like they didn't even know I had left one. When they gave it to me, it smelled of strong urine. They obviously did not let my dogs out enough even to potty. This breaks my heart. I entrusted these people to give the best care possible for my dogs. This was far from it. I received one "report card" for both of my dogs. It was quickly done, did not specify which dog comments were left about, and did not explain any of the issues that occurred. If you love your dog, DO NOT TAKE THEM TO THIS KENNEL. Again, I say kennel because it is NOTHING LIKE A RESORT! read more

We first went to a consultation with their pet trainer so see what would be the best option for our dog because we adopted her and she needed a lot of training. After speaking with her the only way to contact her was to email. So I emailed her with some more questions, never got an answer, forwarded the email again so she would see it never got a reply. After a few weeks I reached out again because we wanted to get her signed up. She "apologized" and we got my doggo in. They said it would be $500 up front for the 4 weeks which was fine and a great price. We go in for her first day try to pay they tell us it's only $65 dollars. I tell them I know i was supposed to pay $500 they insist I'm wrong and tell me it's fine and to just pay that. It happens the next time she goes on Thursday, then the following week they don't make us pay at all and stated there's a credit on our account. By this point our money we had put away for this was already used for bills because they kept saying $65 is what we could pay daily instead of the $500 up front. Fast forward to 4:36 pm Tuesday right after my boyfriend picks our dog up they send me an email saying there must have been confusion and she wants to make it known that $500 was needed up front. So I call to try to speak to her or the manager no one's there and the lady I speak to says yeah it needs to be paid now or we can't continue your training until you can pay. I stated I'd speak to someone else because I couldn't make that happen until the following week. So the next day the manager called me and it went like this. "Hello sorry about OUR MISTAKE but there's nothing I can do to accommodate you." I then said can we keep going I pay by day as I have been then once I get paid I'll finish paying in full? She then says "no it's just not possible needs to be paid up front". We then argued back and forth and I stated how I had the money and tried to get someone's help with the issue but no one was ever around. Also how I've at that point already been paying daily and it wasn't an issue then. She then tells me they have some new people at the front desk and they just didn't know what to do. Which I then stated to her they shouldn't be up front alone if they don't know what they're doing and should be then supervised by a manager or at least someone who knows what's going on. Needless to say we pulled our dog from there after reading other terrible reviews and realizing I didn't want to take the chance of leaving our dog with them anymore. I was taken back by the fact that the manager did absolutely nothing to help us and didn't even ever really apologize for their mistakes. The trainer is never available to speak except on your scheduled day for the 15 minutes you have, and the manager is apparently oblivious to what's going on in HER pet resort and loved to say that the trainer takes care of her own stuff and she has nothing to do with it. Shiva (my Great Dane) absolutely loves this place and so do I! We've been taking her here for doggy daycare since August 2015 and I believe they were only open about a month or so but it looked fantastic. When you walk in, there are TVs that show the doggies playing in the play area and the doors are glass and you can see everything that is going on which I find refreshing. We've taken her to 4 other doggy daycare places around the Des Moines area and most places have the front desk and then take your dog behind closed doors. There is an area in the lobby to purchase dog items which is nice too. The staff here are always so friendly and Brandy, the owner, knows me by name and of course, my fur baby's too. I really like that because it makes me more comfortable to leave my baby. That they take the time to learn our names and remember it feels more personal. They seem to really enjoy their jobs and I like that I never have to wait in the lobby for someone to help me, there's always someone there. The doggy report cards are fun to read too! We've had them give her a bath and trimmed her nails and they do a great job. There was one time they did forget to trim her nails but I let them know and the next time she was there for doggy daycare it was taken care of with no issue. We have also done boarding with them. The rooms are really nice and comfortable. The staff again is very friendly and has all her blankets and toys packed up when we pick her up. Drop off and pick up are hassle free. Shiva comes home so happy and tired and that's how I know she had a fantastic time! I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves their fur babies. I cannot even begin to describe how much I LOVE wags! My puppy had a freak accident where she got hurt by another dog. There wasn't much anyone could do, she wasn't attacked by any means, just playing gone wrong. Wags not only paid for ALL of her medical treatment, but they also offered to take special care of her while she's in recovery. They made notes on her profile to better help her while she plays to prevent this further on. They also said retraining will be done based off this situation, since nothing like this has ever happened before. I'm INCREDIBLY grateful to all of the staff who loves my puppy like she's their own! I would very highly recommend wags to anyone with any dog! I will continue having my puppy at wags, she loves going there and always finds new friends! read more

I LOVE this place! They are so friendly and treat my pup with as much love as I do. I appreciate the consistency in the cuts and that she is able to have the same groomer each time. Took my dog for grooming for the first time at Wags. We had multiple bad experiences at another place. I'm very particular about how I want him groomed. He looked absolutely perfect. Toby wasn't a fan of Wags, his last daycare. I would have to pull him in the door and though he was tired at the end of the day, all of his daycare cards would state how he napped and relaxed. I don't want him to nap all day, that's why I want him in daycare. When I would go pick him up, all the dogs would be sitting in the room. He also didn't get his lunch several times. I would bring it every time and I only know he didn't get it because I would bring his lunch in a container and I would have to ask for it back at pick up. The girl up front (Katelyn) would give me a deer in the headlights look. She had no clue he was supposed to get lunch. Even though his name was written on the container. Fast forward to his current daycare, Dog Spot. When I tell him he is going he does spins until we get in the car! He LOVES going to Dog Spot. He doesn't even hesitate when we walk in the door. He runs for the daycare room. I feel so much better about leaving him all day when I know he plays and has a much better time wth people who care. He is exhausted at at night and They have his (empty) lunch container at the end of the day lol. Thank you THANK YOU Dog Spot. I feel so blessed to have found you. You might not be as big or shiny as Wags but quality over quantity in my book is more important. read more
