No clue what the poor reviews are for. The nearest other Chinese place serves yellow fried rice. This fried rice is real and actually has pork in it. The buffet at $9.99 is very large with three full rows of offerings. On it you will find wide fried noodles, chicken n broccoli, boneless ribs, fried dumplings, fresh peel n eat shrimp, cut fruit including mango and pineapple and several other choices. Sure, some of the breaded chicken dishes lend itself to ask what is it but no worse than the other places in town. Also has nice dining room for eat in. I driven past Wah Shing many times. I decided to stop in and give it a shot for a lunch snack. I ordered the fried dumplings, that's my test dish to see if they make good Chinese entrees. If you can't make dumplings, you can't make good kung pao chicken. They also had a buffet open at the same time. The dumplings tasted like they had been sitting out at the buffet or they were pre-cooked and reheated as opposed to being freshly fried. The dumplings were thin, which I prefer and they were a nice size. I didn't care for the taste. Staff was pleasant and service was fast. Maybe I'll try the buffet next time. read more

Good Chinese food, great price. Hidden secret in Windgap, this place has the best peanut chicken in the area and delicious warm custard pies you can't stop eating. Years ago I never liked the food or the employees at this place. During Covid-19 shutdowns they were the only Chinese restaurants in the area open so we gave it a try. The food was not as bad as it was in years past and the woman at the counter was very nice. As far as the food, I think they may use too much oil in the foods, especially the Shrimp Fried Rice. Sesame Chicken was a bit dry and chewy for my liking. However, the Sweet & Sour Chicken was very good as was the Spring Roll.Their fried noodles that are served with the egg drop soup were fresh and crispy. Wah Shing is the first American Chinese restaurant I can remember going to as a kid. Everything from the decor to the sweet/sour/spicy sensibilities of the cuisine combine for one hell of an authentic experience. That said, it is not particularly cleanly. No big deal. If you are getting American Chinese food then that should be the least of your worries. read more

Don't waste your money. I placed an order for delivery and even though delivery was fast, and the driver courteous, that's where the positives end. The egg rolls, spring rolls and crab rangoon were incredibly greasy. Steamed dumplings were little more than large clumps of thick dough with about 1/2 teaspoon of meat filling. The shrimp lo mein, chicken curry, and Dragon and Phoenix dinner were mediocre at best. I won't be ordering again.It's a shame Bangor doesn't have a decent Chinese restaurant. read more

Traveling through stopped here for lunch. The restaurant is clean, the buffet had a good selection. Food was above average for buffet. Not sure about the previous reviews, but some are 3 years old, maybe the restaurant has been redone. Nothing on the buffet appeared to be a pet. I'd stop here again. read more

Horrible service. The guy is nice, but who woman who served us was rude and inattentive. When I called she was crazy rude as well.

My two daughters who are 17 and 19, ate there last Friday night, the second night they were open after re-opening. It was crowded as it was $5 for the buffett. The selection was huge, the food was hot and fresh. Service is what can be expected at this type of place, effecient. The new decore was impressive, pretty and clean looking. Just left wah shing chinese restaurant, the food was terrible. Egg rolls had a metallic taste. The pork was so dry that I could barely chew it. General tso chicken was just plain bad. My 11yr old son didn't eat anything because it was so bad but they still charged for him. The reason, " it doesn't matter how much you eat". I'll never go back and suggest that neither should you. I stop here occasionally because it's a very cheap buffet. The price came in around $5.75 for lunch, which is a really good deal. The food is average for Chinese, nothing that stands out or you would write home about. Staff is generally friendly, the younger boy that works there is always nice. Food is sometimes not as warm as some would like, but personally I'm not picky about that. The price is good and it fills you up. I have to give this 5 stars for the reasons I will elaborate on below. Its a Sunday night as I sit in my Pen Argyl home, just getting in from SI, enjoying some libations before the work week begins. I'm hungry and can not stand "pizzeria" food, so that is not an option. I decided on Chinese. However after having a few drinks, driving is not an option and only one Chinese restaurant in the area delivers, Wah Shing. What the heck, i'll give it a shot. Super easy online ordering. Hot and sour soup, beef garlic lo mein, an egg roll, crab rangoon, and pan fried dumplings. Order placed at 8:09pm and at my door at 8:41. One half hour exactly. We indulge. And were quite delighted. Being a foody and extremely critical eater, this satisfied and fulfilled my weary expectations. Was this the best Chinese ever on the face of the earth? No. Was it the worst? Far from it. I thoroughly enjoyed. A hidden gem that delivers tasty food at a great price in a reasonable time at a time when driving is not an option. Which leaves me to wonder why these other sub par reviews don't give this place it's credit earned? What other food option will deliver you something tasty at 9:30pm in the good old slate belt? This restaurant used to be great. I don't know if they had a bad day today, but the chicken was so tough and stringy on this takeout order that we had to throw it out. Also they charged an extra $2.50 on the charge card that hadn't been disclosed on the register receipt. The rice portion was about 1/3 of the size that they used to have and seemed overcooked. No longer impressed with this place needless to say and had been coming here for years. Sad. read more
