Came here for the first time as recommended by my acupuncturist to pick up a couple of herb oils. The lady at the front counter spoke good English and was very helpful and knowledgeable. I just showed her a picture of what I needed and she quickly found the products requested. I got there when the store just open med so no one was there. I got good service, and the lady was very nice and friendly. I was lucky to find one of the products since my acupuncturist said it's commonly out of stock. Place is clean and organized, with lots of herbs all over the place. I also picked up some authentic chrysanthemum tea leaves for my personal consumption. Can't wait to drink! read more

As I think back many years ago, my interest in herbal use began the day I woke up free of a debilitating migraine headache. Ever since my sister had suggested that I try Feverfew for my migraines, I skeptically began taking them diligently over a few months, and following a gradual dosing regimen. I suffered with headaches almost daily, be it stress, sinus, or hormonal related. I often couldn't tell the difference. Intense pain radiated above my left eye, and I would be sensitive to light and perfumes. Nausea and vomiting often accompanied them. When the Feverfew finally kicked in, there was a noticeable improvement in the frequency and severity of my headaches. I haven't been able to completely rid myself of them, but the improvements have been a Godsend! Because of this personal miracle, I started looking further into herbs and what they were used for. I bought many a reference book searching for more self improvements. Herbs are very complicated and tricky to experiment with, but I gained some knowledge on what and what not to use. Herbs in capsule form have been the most convenient way for me to take them. So I have made many a trip and spent many a dollar purchasing these products from health food stores. This store carries medicinal leaves, roots, seeds, flowers, and bark, with names I cannot pronounce or even recognize without asking for assistance. Aisles and shelves are filled with fresh, raw, dried, and crushed plants that you buy in bulk. There is also a variety of packaged herbs, teas and liquid remedies to choose from. The store owner and staff are always friendly and eager to offer help or answer questions. Prices are very reasonable too and this has made me a loyal, returning customer. read more

While I bought a nice teapot, cups and gaiwan here I tried 2 of their red teas that they keep in big glass containers behind the counter. Both teas smelled strongly of the way the store smells, medicinal Chinese smell, and I only tried one and it was terrible. I wasted over $20 on tea that shouldn't be sold. The long jing I bought almost 2 years ago appeared to be same batch as the color has faded away. I got lucky and bought it when it was fresh. The puerh that I bought here tasted so strong that I didn't notice that the smell of the shop has permeated all their tea, except for maybe the vacuum wrapped packs they have, but I haven't inquired about. I do not recommend any tea from this shop, unless it is vacuum packed. read more

I like this place a lot. I generally come in for my tea goodies: cups, tea, pots, etc. People are friendly and good at recommendations. I have tried a few different kinds of green tea and jasmine tea. My favorite is the green tea + ginseng. I got the cheaper $50 a lb stuff, but they also have $75 a lb stuff as well. It hurts the wallet a bit but it's so good, I don't mind and is supposed to have good health benefits. I actually feel a bit better since I have been suffering from allergies for the past week. read more

Came here for a tea for my psoriasis. The herb guy checked me out asked a few questions then looked in his book for a mix for me. Asked my weight and height and also did blood pressure test. Mixed me up some weird bugs, tree bark and other various things. Long story short didn't work for me. 10 dollar charge to be checked out. Tea mix with a few ointments and tea pot was a little over a hundred bucks. He speaks thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Khmer. 3 stars because different mixes of teas have worked for my family members. Went to get some herbs as I was feeling unwell. Was seen by a Doctor... he said he was one. He packed me a variety of herb and instructed me the way to boil them. I went home, opened the packet of herb and was getting ready to pour them into a pot. I noticed some tiny black "seeds" in the packet. I took a closer look and realized they weren't "seeds". They were dead bugs. No idea what kind. It was gross. I threw the whole packet away. For $27 I don't think I would want dead bugs in my herbs. He charged me $10 for diagnosing me. read more

The old man in the back I guess he's the herbalist, is very informative and helpful. I prefer natural remedies than getting pharmaceutical meds from the doctor. This is my go to place, price is very decent & ppl are helpful. I would recommend anyone to go there. I am both an RN and have my masters in oriental medicine. I have found this shop to be outstanding and have used it for 20 years at this point. For myself I have used it for cellulitis from a dog bite, infected cysts on my chest and postmenopausal hemorrhaging with unbelievably wonderful results. My son used it for acne and now my granddaughter is using it also for acne. The postmenopausal hemorrhaging was treated by western medicine first with no results. The Chinese medicine stopped it in three days and I have not had any more problems since. The infected cyst was due to have surgery but they wanted me to take antibiotics first. I declined the antibiotics and went to Wah Tsun. They gave me a strange little seed that you mixed with water and put on the cyst with a bandage. Gone in three days--and I mean gone. Infection and cyst were gone. Cellulitis -- I used the herbs with antibiotics and the pain and redness was gone also in three days. I was told it would take a week or 10 days for the antibiotics to get it under control as it is an indolent infection. I certainly found that to be true when I worked in the emergency room. I am due to take a friend there to get help with her cellulitis that she has been battling for weeks at this point and has been on 4 different antibiotics. I hope she has the results I did. Would recommend this shop to everyone. Sometimes they take your oriental pulses and check your tongue as that is part of the Chinese diagnosis procedure. read more

A good shop, and the staff knows what they are selling. I got the Bone Setters for my bad ankle, and I haven't had a problem since. However, the tea I use for my diabetes symptoms is very pricey. I won't be getting the tea anymore, and I found a cheaper tea at another herbal shop in Sacamento. read more

Saw a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner and she created a custom blend of herbs for me. I brought the list of herbs to this shop and the elderly gentleman took note of them all and gave me a fair price. He speaks English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and I think Vietnamese as well. An older lady got all the herbs and distributed them into separate packets for a 2 week supply, which was really nice since I was planning to put together the herbal packets myself. Her English isn't as good, but she was able to communicate a bit with me. She speaks Cantonese and another dialect. There is a younger guy who works there and he speaks English and Cantonese. He brought out chairs for me and my sister since it took awhile to pack all the herbs. They told me to come back if I need another supply and that they would make it for me. Wonderful customer service! Will definitely come back when I need more herbs. read more

On our drive back from Mt Shasta we decided to stop by at Wah Tsun Chinese Herb store to visit the famous doctor. We weren't sure of the location and didn't have the name of the business nor the address. It was purely on a whim. We found it eventually by accident just as we were about to give up. What a great find! The doctor was spot on on everything! John, his translator was the most respectful and friendly assistant. We were so pleased with the service, and the teas that the doctor custom made for me. He didn't find anything wrong after checking my husband several times and even asked him multiple times why he was there to see him. As a result he refused to charge him his meagre fee of $20 for consultation. Have you ever had a medical doctor refuse to bill you for check up which revealed a clean bill of health?! Never! It's against the " ethical " code lol. These folks are the best and the services rendered are beyond expectations! read more
