Dr Wesley Zhang is an amazing acupuncturist! He has been addressing my sleep, digestion and knee pain concerns. His healing approach is very calming, pleasant, and gentle but very powerful. He has extensive knowledge, is consistent and confident with his skills. I went in to see Wesley due to a pain level of an 8-9 on the outside of my right knee whenever I would kneel on it for the last 4-6 months. On the first day of treatment, after a thorough assessment, Dr Wesley Zhang diagnosed that it was my IT Band. Once he determined that, he knew and identified the exact corresponding spot on my scalp which also had a pain level of a 9 when he pressed on it. By the time I left his office after the very first visit, the pain in my right knee went down to about a 2-3. Amazing! I've had about 3 treatments now for my knee and the pain on my scalp is gone, the knee pain has not returned and is now at a 1-2 when kneeling on it. I'm not sure what to think about this practice. I've seen acupuncturists for most of my life, since I was 8 years old, across the US. Everywhere from schools like PCOM to ACTCM to practitioners in SF, NYC, San Diego, Santa Cruz, and Washington DC. They've been at various skill levels. Never in all that time have I seen one who broke down each service (needles, cupping, etc) into a separate billing code. Usually, it's one flat rate. Then, with herbs on top of the cost of a visit, my first visit was over $600! I've NEVER paid that much to see an acupuncturist. Mind you, it was a package + herbs, but the herbs alone were about $300. And the way things were packaged, it felt like you were pushed into a series of visits costing from $2000+, which, again, I've never experienced before. It felt very sketchy. That said, Wesley and Tian seem solid, and I did notice improvement after. But for someone who's unemployed and broke, this is a luxury. I went to someone else in town who was more reasonably priced. If you're a first-time visitor to their practice, be aware that it's costly, and they push you into packages. read more

I started seeing the acupuncturists at Tian Chao after my neurologist told me there was bothing more she coyld fo for my intractable facial nerve pain. It took a while, as nerves are slow to change, but I had almost total remission. Now I have a booster treatment once a month and more to treat the occasional flare up. I can't recommend the acupuncturists here highly enough. Tian is also an outstanding herbalist. During Covid she developed a mixture that really helped with the reaction to the vaccinations I and others had and her mixtures continue to help me with several issues. It's been several weeks/appointments since my last review. Here's my honest experience. Dr. Bae is absolutely wonderful at explaining everything in great detail and answered all of my questions. I didn't feel a difference after my treatment with her and she left a needle on my foot. Dr. Tian is very heavy handed, I bled, left a bruise from one of the needled areas(which I'm sure wasn't supposed to happen), and she left two needles in me. Dr. Wesley took care of me throughout my pregnancy. It was a very easy pregnancy-- hardly any nausea and no back pain-- and an easy 8-hour delivery with no painkillers. I found Tian Chao when I found out I had an 8 cm fibroid. I didn't want to go the western medicine route and get surgery so I scheduled a consultation with Tian and signed up for an aggressive treatment plan to shrink the fibroid. I just wanted to share my experience with Tian Chao Herbs by splitting my review into pros and cons sections. Cons: * The very first day, the receptionist tried to get me to pay for added treatments even though I only signed up for the basic acupuncture. I was also 'offered' a cup of tea by Wesley. When I went to get my cup of tea, they told me that I had to pay for it, even though the way it was worded sounded as if they were offering me a cup of tea. * I went in to do acupuncture for a chronic issue. I didn't know until recently but for chronic issues, you regularly do acupuncture 1-2 times per week. I bought a package of 30 and they told me to go 3 times a week to get the 'best results'. Unfortunately, I should've done better research, I went 3 times a week. This felt a little scammy to me because with this new knowledge, it felt like I was rushed along, so that they can get me to pay for more sessions, when I didn't necessarily need more in that moment. I trusted that the professionals would know best and I followed their lead. I take full responsibility by not doing enough research beforehand, but I do feel that the acupuncturists should have helped guide me into a different direction. * There was really big issue with a lack of communication and assessment. Tian speaks English well, but I only saw her a couple of times. Wesley, on the other hand, speaks very little English, making communications almost impossible. Whenever I asked a question or voiced a concern, I would never get a decent answer from him. Every question I asked, 90+% of the time his response was short and had nothing to do with what I had asked him. I couldn't even talk to Tian because she was never present. During my treatment, I had extreme back pain. They never told me that this could be a potential side effect from the acupuncture which was another example of no communication. It was very frustrating because they never had any follow up discussion with me at any point of my treatment. On my very last day, they didn't even say anything to me about if I wanted to continue or shift gears in a different direction. Pros: * They are professional in their craft. I never once felt that they were being unprofessional from an acupuncture point of view. They know what they are doing and are very good at it. The new lady is very gentle when inserting the needles, which I greatly appreciate. * I did notice some changes in my body, but they were not any changes that I went in there for, so I do believe that acupuncture does work and that it was doing something in my body. I still believe that acupuncture is helpful and can heal you but unfortunately, I chose not to continue based on the cons listed above. read more

I have been here 3 separate times in my life. As a child age 9, teen age 15 and adult at 26. The first time was for a benign mass near my eye. My regular doctor and specialist said nothing could be done except to wait for it to grow large enough to operate on and still was a big possibility I could go blind in that eye with the surgery. With acupuncture, Tian was able to reduce the mass in size and later we discovered with a MRI, the mass was gone. I got a coupon for a complimentary intake session and it was the most thorough and trippy 45 minutes of my life. It was so cool how Rebecca the acupuncturist performed all these tests to see the issues happening in my body. A pulse test, a tongue test, a reflex test, but the trippiest was this ear test. I thought I went in there for migraines but ended up realizing that there is so much crap wrong with my body. It was overwhelming and I'm still contemplating the results. They also have an extensive supply of Chinese herbs. They mixed me up a batch that would supposedly help me. Tian Chao Herbs and Acupuncture provided me a lovely experience, and it has been a while since I last visited due to limited funds but if I did have the funds, I would probably visit at least twice a month! This was a great place, and for the reviews where people had negative experiences, I'm unsure of all of them but I do believe a lot has to do with communication. I had a positive experience and never felt pushed to do more or purchase more than I was able to. They did also recommend me herbs and medicine, I believe I got myself a tea but once again, of my own choosing and not forced to do so. I had such high hopes in trying accupunture as a means to help with headaches, sleep and stress. The accupunture part was okay, however the herbs that were recommended for me created a lot of problems for me. Aside from the cost of the herbs, $70 dollars and the fact that I had fair warning they would taste like dirt, they threw my body totally out of whack. Candidly although the cost was high and aside from the taste, if there is something that would make me feel better, then I am in. Bottom line, although I paid upfront for three treatments, purchased their herbs and a bath soak, I stopped after two treatments and had to go see my MD. I love this place. Over a year ago I started to have abdominal pain and it eventually lead to anxiety and sound irritability. I was frustrated with my situation and I kept going to my primary care and they kept offering me medicine and examinations i did not want. One day I found this place and I was able to get a consultation and treatment. I was so stressed that day and the first treatment immediately helped me and I was so relieved. I got several acupuncture and a few cupping treatment sessions at Tian Chao Herbs for what was severe back pain - to the point that I would awake several times throughout the night. This was my first experience with acupuncture.  Today, roughly a year later my back is feeling much better, not in pain, and I am back to full activity.
