I'm so thankful for this clinic both for me personally but also for my community because they provide such an amazing service. I appreciate the sliding scale ($25-40 which makes the sessions more affordable and accessible. I've been here for multiple sessions with different staff (Lan, Maya, Whitney) for different pains and have always found it to be relaxing. Note that this is a community acupuncture place so you do share a community room, and you sit in chairs that are spaced out throughout the room. The interior is clean and peaceful and the staff is kind, patient and wonderful. I love how easy it is to make appointments and they always have availability which is great when you are in pain. Pros: - Affordable! Acupuncture is typically over $200 for new pt and about $150 for return visits. That's way too much to be able to do regularly. SAP offers it for $65 for new patients for 3 sessions. - Had whitney place the needles in, a few i barely felt, a few did hurt a tiny bit but went away after a few minutes - relaxing environment. I think I'd prefer the calming music to be a tad louder and the white noise to be a bit softer Cons: Front door needs to be a bit less squeaky? I started going to the Sacramento Acupuncture Project years ago when a client of mine heard about my back injury from a car accident and recommended I give them a try. Wow, just an all around gem of a community resource. I left my first visit feeling so well cared for. The in-person intake process was fairly quick as Whitney took some time to ask follow up questions about my answers from the initial online intake form. I was then led to the larger treatment room where I got to choose a chair. Before treatment, I was asked to remove my shoes and bring my pants legs above my knees. Whitney then placed the needles and I got to relax for ~45 min, although I was invited to stay for a full hour if I wanted. They are thorough with their covid practices and protocol, requiring everyone to be masked. The treatment space is shared with other patrons however the lounge chairs are vastly spaced out with a couple walls separating the room. All chairs are covered with clean white sheets that are changed between patients. I love that we get to make our own appointments at the frequency that feels most comfortable to us. And with the $20-$40 sliding scale cost, this means I can return multiple times throughout the week without hurting my pockets and still getting the care my body so greatly needs! 10/10 recommend! read more

I came been here for issues related to bronchitis. I have to be honest and say this is not the place to get treated for bronchitis. But they can help with many other issues, especially anxiety. It has been many months since I was last seen here. But ever time I was treated exceptionally well. Their method is to try to help as many clients as possible economically. Therefore there will be some people who need specialized one on one care who need to find help somewhere else. I have been able to find only one Acupuncturist who could effetely treat bronchitis. He was out of Eugene, Or. This was in the early 90s. So I did not really expect SAP to help me but OMG, can they make you relax and feel distressed. I was always able to fall completely asleep once all the needles were in place. So relaxing!!! I have been treated by many Acupuncturist in my life. The guy in Eugene got me off of all inhalers and antibiotics in 6 treatment. Oh and my chronic cough stopped and never surfaced for over 12 years. So folks Acupuncture works, but just like there are good carpenters who can frame houses, but cannot build a cabinet, and vice versa there are different skill levels with Acupuncturist. Oh and like there are Master Carpenters there are Master Acupuncturist . I have only met one Master Carpenter in over 30 years working as a carpenter,(not me). I have not met any Master Acupuncturist. But some damn good ones who do a good job at their level. They SAP takes money on a sliding scale. They don't refuse treatment if you need it and can't pay much. If you can you can donate to help others. I wish they had a SAP in Dayton, Nv where I live. We all can use some de stressing. I highly recommend SAP. The staff are skilled caring folks. Before you take those damn anxiety medicines go to SAP! If a Dr recommends any anxiety medications, get your scrip filled, but don't take that shit till you seek natural help! Try other options before pharmaceuticals! If you're on anxiety medications seek help to get off them. Seriously that shit is poison. I recommend combining SAP with WEED. Be healthy folks! read more

MASSAGE Review After months of being gifted a one hour massage, I finally cashed that bad boy in. The gift certificate came with a business card for a woman named Jennifer (I'm hoping this name is correct or else I'll feel really bad) who would be my masseuse. We chatted once, but the rest of our communication was via text and that totally worked for me. We set-up a time and it was the easiest process ever. Don't let the not-so-fancy exterior and somewhat seedy area scare you. Good work is happening here. I can't speak to the acupuncture personally, but family friends rave about it, which is why I received a gift certificate here for my birthday. When you walk in you notice this operation is run very differently from most places. No receptionist, but there is a desk to welcome you. There are sign in sheets and lots of notes for visitors. There is also an envelope filing system for payments and whatnot, which is very trusting -- and pretty cool to see. Its not every day you see this going on in a business. I planted myself in the waiting area until Jen came out to grab me. I used the facilities before hand, then went back to her room. She rents out a room from the center, so she does not own any part of the building. She is good friends with the owner and enjoys being part of the centers group -- I hope I'm relaying her story correctly. I cannot begin to tell you how necessary and helpful this massage was. It was well overdue and my body needed it. She didn't mess around and found all the issue spots. I am by no means bragging, but she did mention I was one of the "tightest patients she's had in along time!" Get your mind out of the gutter, we're talking muscles being tight :p It hurt, but it was exactly what I needed. She always checked in with me to make sure I could tolerate the massaging. I was accepting of the torture ;) Seriously, my body felt great the next day. Right after it was sore and I'm sure lactic acid was flowing freely, but the next day I could completely feel the effects of her work on me. I don't spend enough of my disposable income on massages, but Jen will get more of my money when I decide to take better care of my body post workouts! I am really interested in the acupuncture here, but they've sold me on the massage. Everything seems affordable, which is really nice for my budget. It's not fancy at all, but it has what you need. They don't pamper you here, but they don't leave anything to the wayside either. If you don't mind less frills, then you'll enjoy what this center and Jennifer have to offer! SAP had been on my radar for 5 or 6 years before I went in. My issue was simply that I was not sure what to expect from community acupuncture... would it be weird, would people be talking to me, would we break out into spontaneous choruses of Kumbaya... I just really couldn't wrap my mind around it. Sadly, it was a huge waste of time I could have been spent getting treatment. So that you do not make that same foolish mistake, if you too are wondering what to expect from community acupuncture, HERE is exactly what you can expect. The First Visit - On your first appointment you will meet with your acupuncturist one-on-one to discuss what you are seeking treatment for. After that they will walk you through the payment process and get you set up for your first treatment. The Treatment Space - It's a large, airy room, painted a soft green with lovely diffused windows. There is white noise and relaxing music playing. Ear plugs are available if that is not your thing. It is decorated with plants, warm woods and some colorful decorations. The ceilings are tall so the space feels open. There is natural light from the diffused windows. The space is open and light, but at the same time cozy. The room is divided into smaller areas so there is much more privacy than I expected. In fact, some of the areas only house two chairs, so they are very private. The chairs are spaced with a very respectful distance between them. I was worried about crowding... it is not an issue. The Chairs - picture those chairs folks haul around to kids sporting events or concerts, but super solid and super nice. They recline back and lock in place. Before you sit down you'll want to visit the shelves to pick up the cozy blankets, pillows, and cushions provided to make your visit even comfier. You'll quickly figure out your favorite set up for your chair. The Appointment - So, you've arrived, picked any open chair, cozied it up, and it is time for your treatment. The practitioner will come in at your appointment time, do a quick check in as to how you are doing and set the needles. They'll ask you how long you want to stay and leave you to rest. Acu-naps are the best naps!!! As you rest, you may notice people quietly entering and leaving the room for their treatments, but everyone is very respectful of the quiet space. The practitioner will be making her rounds, and if you ever need anything, it is no further than eye contact away. You feel equally attended to and left in peace. Ready To Go - At the time you asked to leave, or when you want to go and make that eye contact, the practitioner will come over, remove the needles and you are on your way! The People - The women at Sacramento Acupuncture are amazing. They are kind and competent practitioners who are genuinely interested in their clients and their work. I've been seeking treatment for allergies (dang you Sac-Town) and hot flashes and both issues are successfully under control. The Last Word - I could not be happier with SAP. If you are at all interested in trying acupuncture, I cannot recommend it enough. Today was my fourth session and I have to say, I have noticed a difference in my pain levels and mood, overall. I love the philosophy and mission of this place --- to provide acupuncture to the community at an affordable price. How great would it be if more businesses in the healing profession adopted this model? They are a gift to the community and I am glad to have found them. It might seem uncomfortable to receive acupuncture in a shared, community room but it's just the opposite. I always fall into a meditative state followed by a restful slumber, around other patients who are peacefully doing the same. The place has a very relaxed vibe and it's kept very clean without feeling too sterile. I saw Whitney on my first visit and I felt she really listened and answered any questions I had. She was great and instantly put me at ease. Margot has done all my follow up sessions and she is warm, attentive, and professional. She's awesome and I recommend them both. You will be in good hands! I have recently had surgery and seen two specialists who still remain stumped about a diagnosis and/or course of treatment for an ongoing health issue. I was having some medical problems and my doctor told me to go acupuncture and when I said "I can't really afford weekly acupuncture" she told me about SAP! And I'm SO SO GLAD!!! My girlfriend gets severe headaches. I suffer from constant sinus congestion and some issues with mood. We've both contemplated trying acupuncture, which is said to treat our ailments and many others - but cost has been prohibitive. We were thus delighted to learn about the Sacramento Acupuncture Project (SAP). The idea here is, for a fraction of the price of a private session with an acupuncturist (cost is on a sliding scale, between $15 and $35) to undergo treatment in a communal room - which is very clean, comfortable, and relaxing. I've had several treatments and have never once been bothered by the presence of others. During my first session, the acupuncturist sat down with me for several minutes to discuss my symptoms, explain how acupuncture and SAP work, and answer any of my questions. She then eased me into the treatment. Turns out, having needles inserted in various parts of your anatomy doesn't hurt nearly as much as you might think. In fact, you can barely feel the needles going in, and only on a couple of occasions has there been any lingering (and very mild) discomfort. Once you've had your first session, your information will be on file, and the acupuncturist on duty during your next visit will know what your symptoms are and will be prepared to treat you, without you having to rehash everything. I've had sessions with two different acupuncturists, both of whom were very friendly, empathetic, and professional. I'm really pleased about his place. I appreciate the business model and what they're trying to accomplish. I've been going for treatment for a couple of weeks now and I am feeling some improvement; time will tell if the acupuncture itself is indeed all I hope it will be. Talking about me in the third person to a caretaker (does "he" (I) understand what's going on, "his speech is slurred," etc. ) That's not good. Alright, this is a money making operation, i spend $15 plus $15 for paperwork (wtf). They put you in a room full of cheap reclining chairs with many people. you are on your back so there's no needles for your neck or back or back of your legs. See i've been to many professional acupuncturists and this is not real. This is the McDonalds version. They don't even have e-stim . Basically i had been working out heavily in a MMA fighting gym as a new student, and my muscles were having serious trauma, sore, stiff, i could barely walk. This lady sat me down, i told her my dire situation. She put a couple needles in my hand, my arm and my legs nothing in my face (could have had my jaws and temples worked on if i had remembered). Nothing in the top Of head or scalp, nothing in my neck. No needles on my abs or pecks cuz i still had my shirt on, It was usless.... i need lots of needles deep into my muscles. If you don't know what e-stimulation is, its when they stick the needle in, then put a tiny clip Connected to a box that sends mild electric signals, it stimulates the muscle from deep Within, it will accelerate the healing process for the muscle. These guys don't have it anyway, but i need that! After wards, I asked her what about my back and neck and my calves, and she had the audacity to say. "I treated all that" I was like, what? with like 10-12 thin needles? Bullshit! I walked out of there pissed cuz i went there looking for a low cost solution, but instead i got no solution, just ripped off. Sill in pain! I would have happily lay face down in the nasty floor for some relief of my calves, back, low back and shoulders and neck... so useless. The needles they use are so thin you can't feel them, but you need some thickness to help the healing process. So fucking fake. I had back pain that was no longer responding to heat or ibuprofen. I was really worried because the pain was negatively impacting my quality of life. The pain decreased significantly immediately after my first session with Molly. My range of motion immediately improved and the pain was nearly gone after two sessions. First time here. Their 5 star Yelp reviews and free first visit (in April) drew me in. I sat down in the lobby, not sure what to do as there wasn't anyone at the front desk. A few minutes went by and Margo came out, greeted me and had me fill out paperwork. After I was done, we discussed a few things. She also went over future visits, how to pay, etc. Then we went into the treatment room, where I was offered pillows and a blanket, sat down in the reclining chair and got comfortable. I was nervous as I haven't had acupuncture in a long time. Margo put me at ease and I started to relax. They have definitely created a relaxing atmosphere, with soothing music and simple decor like plants. 30 minutes later after (I believe) dozing off for a bit, I made eye contact with Margo and she removed the needles. For those of you who are first timers, the needles are small and don't hurt. I'm not a fan of them, so I just looked away or closed my eyes. Overall a great, relaxing experience.
