Let me start by saying Wahoos has been one of our favorite places to eat for several years and we usually get the same exact thing every time we go. Today however, at this Encinitas location I received my burrito and it was totally cold throughout. When I took it to the counter, the girl tells me it's cold because the lettuce is cold and makes the rest of the burrito cold. Maybe true but guess what? That doesn't make it okay to give me cold food! HEAT THAT MOFO UP!! She got all defensive as if she didn't want to accept the fact that I was returning a cold meal. When she finally got it through her thick skull that I expected my food to arrive hot she had an employee make me a new burrito which she brought out with all the extra ingredients on the side. When she gave me my food she tells me the following: "I don't like to tell anybody this but that's why I never order the burritos here...because they always comes out cold." Hahaha! What?? What a stupid girl. As I said earlier we get the same thing every time we eat at Wahoos...this location or any other....but this was the first time I ever received such cold food. And her reaction/response was ridiculous. I wish you could have seen it for yourselves. I will not be eating at this Wahoos anymore. Wahoos is actually losing my interest little by little. This experience was the worst but the last couple times I've eaten at Wahoos (La Jolla and Mission Valley) I haven't been too impressed with the food either. I guess on the bright side, if I stop giving them my business then I end up saving my money. Go figure, haha! I can live with that :) read more

Love wahoo's. Quick fresh and delicious! Loved them in OC 30 years ago. Love them today. And so do my teens. Great fresh ingredients. Always a great choice for taco plate, burrito plate, salads or bowls. Tasty rice and beans and love theirr Fresca salsa. Yum read more

Food was good but the experience in ordering it was nothing short of painful. The cashier, Aida I think, kept interrupting me as I was trying to order. Of course she didn't get my order right. Probably because she wasn't listening? I wanted to get some salsa's from the salsa bar but they were all gone. I asked for some at the counter. The guy asked me which ones I wanted? How would I know what I wanted if I didn't know what I could get? I asked for one of everything. He brought me a selecton of salsa's but there wasn't any tomatillo sauce. So he left and got me some. Got fish tacos but no lime came with the plate. Maybe I am too picky but i'm the one spending the money on the food. read more

Went to wahoo's in Encinitas, walked in and place my order and sat down. I waited for 20 minutes I finally got up to check on the status of my food . And the employee grabbed it from the counter. It had been sitting there for a while . And when I opened it my food was cold. Terrible service, this was my first and last time there. read more

Consistently good - late lunch escape while on the run. Self-serve drinks & condiments. The condiments need refreshing and the janitor was in the bathroom when I opened the door he announced 'occupied'. He should have locked the door as to avoid embarrassment. read more

We typically like Wahoo's but this time my boyfriend bit down on a rock in his 3rd bite of black beans in his taco combo plate. When he brought it to the manager's attention she dismissed it as acceptable and said "oh that happens, the beans come that way". She didn't offer to exchange the beans for something else or refund his dinner, she didn't even apologize, just said "you OK". We will not be eating at Wahoo's again which is sad. Love this place! Healthy! So good and without the guilt. In fact I'm just as happy to eat here as I am to grab a pizza. So glad to see them growing and opening up new locations. Used to go to the first one in Costa Mesa in the 90s. It was there that I realized that it doesn't have to be fried to be good. I think Wahoos has taught that to its fair share. Thanks Wahoos! I forgot how much better this place is for a fresh fish burrito then some other fast food types. I sort of consider this in between fast food and casual dinning. Probably more casual dinning, but served simply and you order at the counter. Food hits the spot! Good stuff. I need to branch out on their menu - I always get confused with their "1-2-3 Guide to Ordering" (pick a meat, pick something else, pick a .. a.. ack!). I'm just slow. I really should just stick to those taquerias but they're hard to find in North County, unless you're in Oceanside.. Two salsa's were great.. both greens, and spicy. The entree was a little on the small side for the price, and I did ask for all beans, but got mostly rice. I had too long of a day to bother to complain. I just am not going to be back. The food at Wahoo's is good and like most fast food restaurants its very consistent. My fish is usually dry at this Wahoo's because they precook fish (they should stop doing that!), but it's a nice break from the usual spots with a fun menu. I had to downgrade my rating for this trip because of the conduct of the staff. Went in about 8 or 8:30 at night and the staff was so loud in the ordering and kitchen area that it was very irritating. Talking loud, laughing and general goofing off caused us to hurry our meal and leave. The fact that it was in another language made it even more irritating. Wahoo manager...you might want to talk to your staff about being respectful to your customers. read more

We were at the mall and had an hour to kill, so we decided to try this place for lunch, hoping it would be as good as Rubio's. I had the fish tacos, one the cajun spicy and the other flamebroiled. The cajun was on the soggy side and wasn't flaky as I would expect. The broiled one tasted fishy and didn't have any good flavor to it at all. The double soft corn tortillas didn't have any flavor either. Had to ask for hot salsa and she vrought me a small plate of it which tasted like it had been in the refridgerator for a long time. My BF has the carne asada tacos and it was average, tho he did enjoy the pinto beans and white rice, which I thought was a bit bland. My 3 year old daughter loves the fish bowls at Wahoo's, so we go there quite often. I love the rice, so I get the fish bowl as well. I think Wahoo's is much better than Rubio's. A great healthier alternative to your typical fast food. read more

Yes, they put enchilada sauce on their burritos.... and its good. The place is clean, good customer service, and love the location. I was upset when the closed for remodeling the other day;( Their burritos are truly amazing and at a good price. read more

This review is specifically for the Wahoo's in Encinitas. My family started going there when my oldest daughter was about one, so that is going back approximately 8 years. We lived in La Costa from for a number of those years and were at this restaurant every week. The food was great but the best part was the staff. They were very professional, courteous and were there for years. About a year ago we went in and the entire crew was gone. The food was about the same and we went back a few more times. The service and quality went down each time. Nothing stood out, it was just lacking in comparison to how it once was. I went in today with my kids because we were shopping nearby. Normally when I don't like a place I just don't go back but I figured they couldn't screw up a plate of nachos. My mistake and I won't make it again. I ordered the nachos with black beans, cheese, asked for no meat and requested guacamole and sour cream on the side. The girl at the register was really confounded by this and asked for clarification a couple of times. When the food arrived I had a quesadilla stuffed with veggies with my side of guacamole and sour cream. I told the guy who brought the food I would just eat it. I'm pretty easy to please. I started in on it but the veggies were poorly cooked. Since I didn't turn it away immediately and started eating it, I decided to just order another plate of nachos. I went back to the same checker and was very specific. The next plate of nachos had the cheese and black beans but it was covered with rice(?). I brought it back up to the counter and gave it back. She suggested it came out with rice on it because I had asked for no meat so she typed in vegetarian. (Still, what kind of cook would throw rice on nachos if a checker hit the vegetarian key?) I sat back down with my kids and a guy next to me started talking to his kids about how he thought the place had gone downhill. We struck up a conversation and both agreed the old staff was great and the place wasn't the same. We made a joke about what might arrive for him When they brought his order they got the wrong type of rice and beans with his enchiladas. It was comical. My nachos (third try!) finally arrived. This being the third plate you would think the young lady that "helped" me each time would have had the cooks style this one out. No such luck. There was about half the amount of cheese it should have come with, some wasn't even melted and the plate was swimming with black bean fluid. My little one was being a pest by this time so I split without complaining to a manager. The guy who was sitting next to us said he would let the manager know what we both thought. I worked in restaurants through and past college for over 6 years. I have very thick skin and rarely in my life have I griped to a business about service or quality. The only on line review I have ever posted was positive and was for a bike shop. This place stinks and I would recommend against going there to anyone who reads this. read more

Wahoo's is among my all time favorites. The food is always fresh, the place is cool and the people who work there are always nice. They have healthy menu items and a wide variety of options. Unlimited fresh salsa and beer specials are a bonus. The Banzai burrito is my favorite because it's tasty and full of fresh vegetables. Been going here for years. read more

Food is good, but service is majorly lacking. We often come in at night around 7:30 to 8:30 and our experience has been pretty consistent: no more ice tea on counter and we sit at the cash register for a bit until someone acknowledges us. I assume these two are both related to cleaning up early so they can leave early. I just wish they realized getting a jump start on closing can ruin the customer experience! Easy choice for quick casual food in the Encinitas area. I can't get over how good their blackened fish is.....I always have the Banzai style bowl and the wife does the same with shrimp....been coming here for over a year and with some inconsistencies here and there (too much sauce sometimes, not enough fish etc)....it's still a very "safe" choice to pick up something quick. Both the kids love the fish tacos here and enjoy hanging out here. The Mr. Lee's hot sauce goes great with the blackened fish here and I've yet to not enjoy my food here (even with the inconsistencies). read more
