Located about 5-7 min away from Legoland, this place will be our go to spot if we're craving food other than park food! Our absolute favorite is the "Fish and chips burrito"! It was so good, we had to come back the next day and order 2 more! Everything else we ordered was ok, but if we're ordering here that will be all we order. It's so good! Only wish it came with a sauce that compliment "fish and chips". The red and green salsa it came with was ok, but it needed something else. Maybe pico de gallo and/ or sour cream? The service was also pretty good! The lady that helped me was attentive and able to answer questions about the menu efficiently. I can't give 4 or 5 stars any more to Kotija. The food has been improving, but for the last year has fallen off of what used to be standard. Tonight we went and spent $58 for a LOT of food. It was the best it's been in a long time! I will say that this location removed their fountain beverages from self service and with it - the free refills. No more Jamaica, Tamarindo, Horchata out in the open. And forget sodas they're all gone. Only bottles. There is such a difference between their locations. Encinitas used to be the best but now...I don't think so. A lot of "nickel & diming" which is a shame when they've clearly been successful opening 5 locations in SD county. read more

If you've ever had street fish tacos in Ensenada the flavor remains with you and you look for it every where fish tacos are served... this place is IT, north of the border that is!! It was so spicy he lost all sensation in his mouth and yet kept going because it was such a good/spicy taste he couldn't stop... He insisted I take a bite, i couldn't taste my very yummy Fish taco... They have gotten lazy and no longer care. Want to know why I said lazy? Kotija is a SOLID local taco shop, and if you're in this area of Luecadia there's really not a better option for a super cheap taco shop. The menu is an encyclopedia of Mexican options with everything your appetite could possibly ask for with a side of rice and beans. Since watching Gamechangers on Netflix, I've been doing the whole meatless thing so I went with the chile relleno, and it was definitely one of the better I've ever had for under 10 bucks. Only thing that I could ask for on this place would be later hours like some other taqueria chains. Totally understand though. We picked up a couple burritos on our way home, one carne asada and one pollo asada. The carne asada was okay, although it had no guacamole, which is absolutely a necessary component of a carne asada burrito! You can see in both images of our food, both burritos had no guacamole, just meat and salsa. Now I probably wouldn't have written this review if the lack of guacamole was the only issue we had. However, after spending over $30 on two burritos (with tip), it's hard to over look the next issue. The chicken (pollo asado) was completely inedible. The chicken was sooo chicken-y. It tasted as if it had been sitting out all day, and just reheated for our burrito. It was inedible and probably the worst burrito I've ever had. After just one bite, it completely turned me off and I felt sick to my stomach. Honestly, it's really hard to mess up a burrito, but this place has managed to do just that.
