This was a-ok. Stopped here for dinner after flying in to town and after learning the burritos didn't come as I wished (rice, beans, salsa, etc) I opted for the taco combo and a horchata. The service was great and we didn't wait too long for our food to come out. We also got a fresh batch of chips which were tasty. My plate was fine, most of the flavor came from the salsa they have available on the side. B enjoyed his burrito and we both liked the horchata. I'd probably try out other spots before returning but there was quite the dinner rush after we sat down so they're doing something right! read more

I've been eating here since 1986. My family eats here once every couple of weeks because it's convenient and decent food. I am totally missing the cravings I used to get for their three rolled tacos. Their carne asada was to die for, but things are just not the same. It has gone downhill since the new ownership. Please go back to the original recipes. Everything, including the carne asada is greasy. Everything is just not as fresh, and my tacos are literally dripping with oil. People will pay more for good food, so invest in yourselves! Buy the better ingredients and lay off the grease. See you again soon with hope of a better experience. read more

Just saying, Los Angeles does not have Mexican food like San Diego's. Whenever I come down I immediately look for any restaurant ending in "bertos" and they never disappoint! I found Roberto's while I was out shopping for a party and this was right on the main road of El Camino Real! Plenty of parking, line to order was just right, everything cooked fresh and I could quickly eat there. I ordered a Chili Relleno burrito and I couldn't help it, I ordered a crunchy shredded beef taco also. Way more food than I needed but totally worth it! The huge differences with what Roberto's does right is the Cotija cheese blended with yellow cheese the amazing tortillas made the right way and not hiding the flavors in too much sauce or filler. Went to eat here and bought a bottled drink along with my food. Noticed it tasted bad so I checked the expiration date and it was VERY expired. When I told the cashier about it, he was rude and annoyed that I brought it to his attention. He didn't offer us a refund for selling us an expired soda, even though we had only taken a couple sips and it was basically full. He started talking bad about us to his coworker in Spanish making it seem like we are dramatic. Once he realized we understood spanish he looked embarrassed. Cashier doesn't understand that selling expired beverages is a health code violation and he was acting like its no big deal we had to insist on a refund of the drink. Be careful if you eat here because if they sell expired products in the front of the store, imagine what they've got behind closed doors. read more

Roberto's always has very good food. The prices are just okay. Seems a burrito is now $12.00?. They offer burritos, tacos, tostadas and of course rolled tacos. The standout is always the shredded beef. If your in a high protein, low carb diet, I recommend the shredded beef with any tortilla. The food is always fresh, the service is always friendly, and you cannot beat the location. They offer a rolled taco plate (2023) that gives you a choice of guacamole or sour cream. The rolled tacos are excellent. The plate is under $7.00. I feel that it's a great value. read more

This location was recently sold, the new owners kept the name but increased prices, quality is the same or worse for some things, and portions are the same or smaller. The interior is the same. None of the former staff work here but the new employees are fine. The food tasted good, just not what I have been accustomed to. I've been going to this location for over a decade and probably won't be back because I'm not a fan of the changes. If you've never had the old one, you probably won't be disappointed with the changes. read more

Mexican food has gotten so expensive that rarely buy it anymore. Roberto's still has good food but $7 for a bean burrito seems high. I don't blame the businesses for the prices if they can continue to get the customers at some point people stop showing up. The blame falls on CA politics with increased labor costs and inflation which increases the material costs. read more

Delicious TINY burrito. I'm vegetarian because I don't slaughter animals and wouldn't expect anyone else to do it for me, definitely traumatic. So I order rice and beans now. So... today, I ordered a *bean and cheese with no cow cheese ew. But I asked for extra rice, specifically extra rice and I also asked for cabbage because lettuce wilts. They charge me an extra 3 dollars for a *custom item charge* wth so for my rice, bean and cabbage burrito with a tip was 10 bucks. In what world is 10 dollars sustainable for a rice bean and cabbage burrito, like kmon hook up the rice guys. And then I get it, and it's mostly beans, hardly any rice. Home of the original Carne Asada Burrito, Roberto's Taco Shop has been feeding southwest California with authentic Mexican food since 1964. We started out as a tortilla shop, but as we grew over the decades, we began getting recognized for our filling breakfast burritos and fresh fish tacos. With a kid's menu and a casual atmosphere, we're the perfect place for the whole family to unwind after a day at the beach or get energized in the morning with a Roberto's breakfast. History

Established in 1964.

Believe it or not, Roberto's got started with tortillas. In 1964, San Diegan Roberto Robledo opened a tortilla shop in San Ysidro just to make ends meet. It was a true family affair with his five sons and daughters helping out daily. Today, Roberto's is known as the original Mexican taco shop by many and has become a strong community icon in the north coastal area of San Diego. Locals, beachgoers, and many tourists start feasting on burritos in the morning and feast on through lunch and dinner.

While I didn't try it, our friend that had the chorizo hash also said it was okay so I'm guessing the ratio wasn't quite right. Anyways, ask for their chili sauce on the side, that's actually quite surprising. It had really good heat and was more like a chili crisp than a vinegary hot sauce. The plates that did score favorably at the table were the carne chilaquiles and the divorced eggs.

Food was prepared quickly and the guy at the counter was pleasant and efficient. Plenty of seating was available, but I decided to get take out and brought it back to where I was staying. Food stayed hot after a short walk, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. There was honestly TOO much food, and I had enough for a late night snack and early breakfast bite as well. I would definitely come back to try something else on the large menu!

Cancun may not look like much but the food is pretty freaking amazing. My surf and turf burrito filled with generous amounts of shrimp and carne asada was incredible. Adding sour cream and guacamole just put it on another level. No burritos like this near my home. My wife's shrimp plate was also a winner. Lots of shrimp. My wife's only gripe was not enough rice and beans. Even the side of corn tortillas was moist and tasty. I'm not sure if they make their own tortillas but it seemed like it. Even the french fries are incredible. Nice and crispy but not dry. I thought I'd still be hungry after just the burrito but I had no idea what a monster it is. Even after eating 3/4 of it, the remainder was still heavy. The older lady working the register is so sweet. A little hard to understand since she has a thick accent but very nice and helpful. The cook was cool too. Very happy when I stopped before leaving to tell them the food was "delicioso". Don't let the gas station scare you away. The food is jammin'! I plan on stopping by again when I attend Comic-con next year.

Used to come here often but one night a few months ago our family and friends all got food poisoning after we all ate from there and had similar dishes. Once you get that, you never want to go back. I get one thing and one thing only from this Roberto's and that is the super nachos with chicken. I go here occasionally and this last time was a little disappointed because the new cook forgot to put sour cream and beans on my dish! This place is just OK. I like the flying saucer or the roller tacos with extra guac. If you don't like sour cream, ask them to hold it because they pretty much put it on everything. I stop here on my way to se my girl sometimes, she likes the bean and cheese burrito. I know how to pick em. read more

While the ingredients themselves are pretty good, the food has the same lackluster quality as one gets at the other Peachy's locations. The biggest issue is the blandness of it all. This type of food should pop with a variety of flavors. Here, everything fizzles into one inchoate mass. The tastes are pedestrian, and one wonders if the spices and preparation techniques used in certain traditional dishes have been dialed way down for more oblivious palates. After two goes, Peachy's Express is not a place that I can return to in good conscience. It fills, but it does not satisfy.
