We called in an order to go and it took 20 minutes to make. It was a weekday, so there was no one there, but the ambiance was chill. The food was room temperature and was rubbery texture. The taco fell apart immediately, but the slaw on top was good.

Kitschy surfer themed restaurant chain with plenty of seating, serving up prototypical Cali-Mex grub. Food tastes exactly as you'd expect and is well-portioned. My kiddo's go-to is the Citrus Slaw Burrito (choice of protein with melted cheese, citrus slaw, roasted tomato salsa, rice & beans) with Carne Asada for a small upcharge. The Chicken Tortilla Soup, while I think technically a starter, is plenty for me as a main, especially if I'm also getting Churro Chips for dessert. :P Order at the counter, and a server will bring each dish out to your table as it's ready - which I like since I prioritize freshness, but some may not appreciate eating courses out of order and/or at slightly different times than the other members of your party!

This place is awesome. It's the second time I've been there and the first time because I was so new I warmed up over ordering. But all the food was fabulous and even though we had too much food, they brought over some soup for us to try. Which was extraordinarily kind. Our server was Jeremiah's and he was as nice as can be and very patient and the food was delicious. And the people there that were customers were so nice and as I talked to them, they really enjoyed their food too. Why this place has 3 1/2 stars I feel as undeserved. Cause I am picky as hell. And it was really good so I just wanted to put it out there and thank them for being great.

Dude, wow! The blackened fish bowl, white rice, white spicy beans, pico de gallo coleslaw salad and of course, a wedge of lime, a touch of soy sauce, and the MUST the Mr. Lee sauce smothered on the fish. Tim and the team keep the Wahoo beach vibe alive and healthy. Amazing food and great service. Top 5 favorite meals, anytime! Was absolutely SUPER KIND!

Hate to leave this review because it's one of my favorite restaurants of all time, but today was just so bad. Our burritos were the smallest I have ever seen from them, the chicken in the quesadilla looked boiled and unseasoned, my boyfriends burrito was filled with 80% lettuce (photo), and the ceviche literally just looked like cheap shrimp mixed with pico de gallo. The service was really nice like always but I am really disappointed in the quality of their food this time..

This chain has been around a long time, not sure why it doesn't do better these days. Honestly, I prefer Wahoo's to Rubios. The prices are better, the ambience is less corporate, and the food is also good and freshly made. Not just fish tacos, In fact I didn't have any on this visit, the burritos are really good and there are some very flavorful options. Service was good on my visit and it's a nice touch that they bring the food out to your table and follow up to see how you're doing too.

There was a long line - this place is so popular - but thankfully the line didn't take very long. The wait in the line was a good amount of time to give me the chance to take a look at the menu before ordering so I didn't mind it at all! It was easy to order at the restaurant. Grab our order number and find a seat and just wait for the food to come out. I was worried the food would take a while because so many people were there. The food came quickly, so there was no issue. I got a bivuoac berry cider which was delicious and very drinkable. I opted for some clam chowder, rocket salad, and the seafood curry as well. The clam chowder was delicious and creamy. Not TOO rich and not too salty. The rocket salad was pretty standard. I don't order any fish with it since I was ordering so many items already and I didn't want to be too full! Just wanted to add some veggies to my meal. The seafood curry had some great flavor. I was a bit surprised that the curry was more of a soup consistency. I was expecting a thicker and more saucy consistency but it was still good. I think it could've been a bit more flavorful. I liked the fish, shrimp, and veggies in the curry and I loved that they cooked the fish perfectly. It was nice and soft and had a delicious char on it. Overall, great meal and I thought the meal was decent value. Expected to come back and try more menu items.

I grabbed an Uber after work on a Thursday and headed north 11 miles. As I arrived at the Fish Shop, I could smell the goodness inside and saw the line waiting to order. The restaurant is on one side, with an open bar on the other. Ordering is as simple as 1, 2, 3. Pick your fish, pick how you want to consume it (plate, sandwich, salad), and pick your sides and drink. I went with my work colleagues recommendation of a blackened sea bass sandwich with onion rings and a Marg. That choice was FANTASTIC!!! You seat yourself once you order and place the buzzer given to you by the counter person on the unit on your table. Although busy, there were still tables available (bar and restaurant, plus out front). As the NBA playoffs were on, I sat inside. Everyone working here was friendly and as I already stated... my meal was the best I had on this San Diego visit. A bonus was a gorgeous sunset just 3 blocks down from the shop. I will be back to Encinitas Fish Shop when I next visit San Diego.

All the food was fresh and delicious! There was quite a long line out the door but it moved relatively fast and there was plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor. You order at the counter before sitting down so it was a bit stressful going as a solo diner that wanted to eat there as it was super packed with lots of groups and families so people were grabbing seats while one member of their group was in line ordering. But I was able to grab a seat facing out the sidewalk to enjoy my lunch!

The menu was focused around a fresh bluefin tuna the restaurant obtained that day. The way chef prepared the different courses was unique and really let the blue fin be the star of the show. I think this is a regular occurrence. When the doors open, everyone rushes to get bar seating, which is first come, first served. At the front desk, we checked-in and they sat us at a table in the main dining room. I let it slide since we didn't want to get the Happy Meal anyway, but also wouldn't get any happy hour drink prices. We ordered: * Berry Hot & Bothered - $18 * Societe Bulbous Hazy IPA - $10 * Beef Carpaccio - $29 * Ode-to-Swan - $34 * Johnny Cake & Caviar - $29 * Half-Baked Red Snapper - $48 * Peaches, Peaches, Peaches - $18 * Butter Me Up - $17 The cocktails were fine. Butter Me Up was the best (an espresso martini). The beer was good. The Peaches and Berry drink were very mediocre. Server did get us two small glasses of champagne for our anniversary which was a nice touch. The Beef Carpaccio was amazing. There is a TON of breadcrumbs so if you inhaled, you'll choke. But the flavor was fantastic. Would order again. The Ode-To-Swan reminded me of the Spanish Sashimi at Valentina. Only they put a metric TON of chives on it so you can't even see the fish. This is a huge mistake. The dish was okay but all I tasted was chives. I love sashimi but would not order this again. The Johnny Cake was good but way too sweet! It's basically a thick pancake with caviar on top. The caviar was very savory and the sea bass rillete underneath was smoky. I loved the flavor combination but we could not finish the dish. The half-baked fish was phenomenal. A stunner. Even with the foggy eyeball staring at you. Soo good, I only wished there was more of that sauce on the plate. Even at $50, I would order this again. Total was $270 after tip. They add a 4% surcharge on the bill which is not great. I would come here again but skip the cocktails. Go to SAGO across the street instead for some banger cocktails. Parking was sparse. Street level only. We had to park a block away but the walk was not bad. It was 69° so the weather was perfect. Service was good but our server was clearly trying to get us to order more food. We did not need a second entree or a plate of carrots or potatoes. I would come back, mostly to try new dishes. The food is expensive but interesting in a way you don't know what something will taste like. Please ditch the chives on the sashimi!

The setup is pretty casual, you order at the counter and then find your own table. We grabbed a nice corner booth with which worked out great for our group and all the kids. We ordered the calamari, parmesan garlic fries, and the cornmeal battered fish. Our friends got the quinoa bowl with cod and the garlic shrimp rice plate. The standout for me was definitely the cornmeal battered fish. It was fresh, juicy, and cooked really well. The fries that came with it were just okay, but the coleslaw was surprisingly one of my favorites I've had. The Parmesan garlic fries were interesting, there was too much garlic and the garlic was way too spicy and overpowering. It was inexpensive, which probably explains why there seemed to be more batter than actual calamari. The texture was also inconsistent, some pieces were so chewy that we could barely bite through them. But I'd honestly come back just for that fish and slaw combo. The calamari was a little disappointing. My biggest and only issue was the wait for our food. Our friends got their meals pretty quickly, but ours never came out. My husband checked twice, and both times we were told it was coming soon. Meanwhile, two tables that came in after us got their food, and one even finished and left before ours arrived. Our friends were deliberately eating slowly so we could all eat together, but they still ended up finishing before our food showed up which sucked since they had to wait for us later. Despite that, I thought the food was good overall. Hopefully the delay was just an off day because the fish was definitely worth ordering and eating again!

As noted by its name, this place served a fusion of Chinese and Korean cuisines. Their Encinitas location took over what used to be a roadside diner along N Coast Hwy 101. The seating capacity was less than 40 people which included a few high-top counter spots. At my last visit, I came for a late dinner before their closing time. A large menu was posted on the wall behind the service counter that listed about two dozen food offerings. The items seemed to be comfort food like pot stickers, spring rolls, fried rice, and chicken wings but flavored with unique combinations of seasonings and spices. I started my meal with the Marinated Beef Tri-Tip Skewers which came as a set of three and a Chinese mustard for dipping. The meat was very tender and well-seasoned. I also ordered the Cumin Lamb Stir Fry which the cashier said was medium spicy. After tasting a couple of bites of the noodles from the serving bowl, I agreed that the heat level was moderate, even for my palate. I thought the portion size should have been more for the price. That was my main criticism for both items, otherwise the food was solid for an Asian fusion eatery.
