There were food trucks on parade, local craftspeople with stuff for sale, and games, contests and more. Watching the strong men trying to pick up heavier and heavier boulders was a laugh! This is an annual event, starting off with a 5K fun run. The event, which is free and open to the public, is presented in conjunction with a special "eat the street" Hawaiian and lū'au- themed food truck rally. There's plenty of free parking on the grounds of the beautiful Turtle Bay Resort. Highly recommended.

Loads of tents were set up around a large open area, all on part of the beautiful grounds of the Turtle Bay Resort. (And the rocky-but-pretty beach was right on the other side of the parking area.) People of all ages -- kids through adults -- were part of the warm, welcoming, lively hosting group. Along with the games, hula, and storytelling in the open areas, many of the tents housed demonstrations where you could participate in arts and crafts, pound taro into poi {yes, on purpose}, and learn other aspects of Hawaiian culture. Other tents housed vendors, mostly of various types of clothes and jewelry, but including a few other things as well. There were also a few food stands and trucks. The only disappointment to me during my 2.5 hour visit was that there was no live music (except the rhythmic gourd during the hula competition); wonderful Hawaiian music was playing over the speakers, but it wasn't live, which I was looking forward to. I would definitely attend this again. And one more note: it was beautiful to hear that much Hawaiian language spoken; not just in the 'show' parts (from the announcer and the storyteller), but from the people throughout the event, the kids as well as the adults.

Parking is kind of tough 'cause the days that get busy, I've found myself parked down the street. Otherwise, the whole area is clean, open spaced, and easy to find anything you'd need.

Usually we melt under the summer heat and humidity, this year it was actually cooler than most years and it actually rained lightly to provide even more relief from the heat. The event was actually a little smaller with less vendors from past years but it was just as entertaining as ever. We recognized many of the artists and their works from previous visits. It was fun to shop at this locally produced arts fair and see the talent we have in Hawaii, very Impressive. Finally ,I really enjoyed purchasing food from the food trucks and not have to purchase scripts first. We definitely spent more because of this.

They also had the free hayride, entertainment, the pumpkin patch, sunflower patch, pony rides, and more! I love that they partner with organizations for great giveaways. My hubby won 2 RT airline tickets to anywhere Southwest flies on the mainland by winning a watermelon eating contest! Woop woop! They also had really cute staged areas for photo taking, tons of food vendors, a farmer's market, etc. You can't go wrong when there's something for everyone to do. Highly recommend checking this place out for Halloween time. Bring boots and plenty of water and sunscreen - it's hot out there, but always fun.

We went to Aloun Farms for the Fall Festival this year and overall had a nice time! It was great…read morethat the event was dog friendly. We brought our pup along and she loved exploring. The decorations were cute and festive, and the staff we interacted with were all friendly and welcoming. It was definitely crowded and a bit overwhelming, so we only stayed for about an hour. It was also really hot, which made it tough for both us and our dog. We walked around, grabbed some food, checked out the sunflowers and pumpkin patch, and then stopped by the farmers market store before heading out. The store service was quick, but one moment stood out. A young boy was trying his best to help us and do the math for our items when another staff member suddenly took over and told him, "You're going to the side. You're way too slow." It felt a little uncomfortable to witness, since the boy was clearly trying his best. I understand things can get busy, but it just didn't feel right to scold him in front of customers. Despite that, the festival itself was fun, the food and produce were great, and it's always nice to see local families and pets enjoying the day. We'll probably go again, maybe earlier in the morning next time when it's less crowded and cooler.

I've been to so many and each and every one is very unique where you can find either fashion runway stage, live street art, or even a dance night in the barn. I just love the vibe SALT and surrounding Our Kaka'ako brings with the vibrant art we're so blessed to have and this particular night (November 19th) there was actually much more shopping just perfect for the holidays and the party went further down to Ya-ya's. Tonight I was fortunate to have gone after work so I kept it short but found some awesome treats. Some straw toppers to add to my holiday gift giving and some cheesecake cups (OG, Strawberry and Cookie Butter) of course I got one of each to share...ate the Strawberry which of course omg was yummy!! Not too sweet as the Strawberries was just perfect as I tried to get an even scoop of it all in every bite. Walked further down and honestly wasn't in the mood to wait too long for anything found something that would just exactly work for me. Ya-Ya's Chophouse & Seafood and tonight they had two items - Steak Kebabs - Fat Fried Rice with TAB (aka Thick Ass Bacon lol!) I seriously wanted the fried rice but thought that the Steak Kebabs was more sensible for me personally and it came with two kebabs each fully loaded with steak, mushrooms, peppers and onions with a huge scoop of rice! So many options I really was considering including Henna from Henna Happens, Birria Tacos from Dolce Vita, Corn from Corn Onoz Hawaii but though there's always a next time yes!?! I remember pre-pandemic Yelp had a booth here and hoping as things return to normalcy that we'll see it back again one day (hint hint!) Checked out Waimea Falls recently and thought it was a nice, easy spot to spend a couple hours. The…read moretrail itself is fully paved and mostly flat the entire way, so it feels more like a relaxing walk than a hike. I think it's around 2 miles total. Along the path there are concession stands and places to stop, and at the waterfall there's also a small shop with clothes and other touristy stuff. The waterfall area was pretty organized. People were swimming when I went, and there were lifeguards on duty the whole time. Everyone has to wear a life vest, which they provide, even with the lifeguards there. There are steps and areas around the water where people can sit, leave their belongings, or just watch family members swim. One thing I liked was that the place had a little more going on than just the trail itself. Near the entrance there are small restaurants and souvenir shops, and while I was walking back there was a dance presentation happening at the amphitheater. You do have to pay for entry to the trail, but overall it was a decent experience if you want an easy walk and a place to cool off for a bit.
