Toa Luau is on the other side of Waikiki so we decided to rent a car and slowly driving there. There was plenty of parking. The entertainment was great and I really enjoy the food. The chicken was tender and not dry. All the items on the plates were great. You were able to get second or third. They were super generous and wanted us to eat more and more. We were able to get super last minute tickets! We joined the waitlist and they reached out to us when spots opened up. Tickets were around $165 per person for the 3 hour experience, which I thought was pretty pricey at first, but there was actually a lot included between the activities, food, and the show. The food is almost like a buffet because you can go back for seconds and even thirds. I literally got three servings of the pineapple because it was SO good lol. The fire performance completely blew me away!! I wish I took more pictures and videos, but honestly I was just enjoying the moment and watching everything. Worth the trek out from Waikiki. These guys are the real deal, genuine folks sharing the culture and food. We had a terrific time out in Waimea Valley. Started out at the local Foodland with poke bowls which we picnicked at the visitor center before heading out to the waterfall. Nice walk with a little swim in the plunge area, note it is staffed with lifeguards and mandatory life jackets. Returned back to the visitor center where the bar at the food courts was open for afternoon libations. Seating begins promptly at 5 and the experience ended around 8:30...I will not describe the rest as you should just enjoy the experience. Good value end if you opt for the silver seats like us, the view is virtually the same with less drink tickets...they do take cash. What a great time! If you attended the Toa Luau and could not feel the hospitality and effort put out by the family here, I really cannot help you. We arrived and were warmly greeted even though road construction made us late. We purchased the Silver package which put us at a taller table on the rear of the room, but the sight lines were great and we were able to easily enjoy the show. They start off with some hands on time experiencing the various parts of the culture the show will get into later. We got to husk and open coconuts, peel tiny green bananas, peel Taro, and lots of other activities. Then they moved on to show a traditional cooking setup. The meal was tasty with lots of options on the plate and they will keep serving you whatever you might want so you will not be leaving hungry. I did the Lunch Gold experience for 12pm during my recent trip to Hawaii. This was one of the best experiences I had during my entire trip. This is a must have experience that I will be recommending to all friends and family. We were a large party of 6 adults and 4 kids that perfectly fit the 10 seat tables. Before the meal, there are some games and activities to learn the culture. The staff wove crowns for my kids and even gave each of us beautiful fresh flower leis to keep. The meal was delicious, I was too busy stuffing my face that I forgot to take a picture! Each plate comes with Roasted Kalua Pork, Grilled Shoyu BBQ Chicken, Island Macaroni Salad, Pupukea Green Salad, Lomi Tomato, Rice with Furikake, local Fruits, Haupia and White Cake with Coconut Frosting. I was shocked that we were being offered refills for our plates... YES PLEASE! It really felt like I was at a huge family party. The staff were so welcoming, friendly and really made the effort to speak with us and our kids. My kids loved the show, there are some drum parts that can get pretty loud, but headphones are available for rental free of cost for kids that really saved the day for me! The show was amazing, dancing, story telling... even fire (at a safe distance of course)! With your ticket entry you also have access to Waimea Valley which has a waterfall you can swim in and a trail to hike with beautiful views... there is even a bus back at a fee if you cannot manage the hike back from the waterfall. The entire experience has clearly been very thoughtfully planned to make all guests have the best experience possible. If you are on the fence with booking a ticket, do yourself a favor and just do it! :) read more

We got the VIP seating which I recommend if you're with elderly folks or ones that have a hard time seeing, otherwise there really isn't a bad view in the house due to the stage setup. It's the traditional Hawaiian fare, so chicken, pork, mac salad, etc. The show is the real attraction as they take you through most/all of Polynesia instead of just Hawaii and the dancers are so talented to do everything. One of the highlights of our trip! What a beautiful way to see Hawaiian culture. We walked around Waimea Falls before the luau started (sadly no water at the waterfall, but the workers did tell us ahead of time). When we checked in for the luau we got told we got upgraded to VIP which absolutely a cherry on top to an already perfect luau! Incredibly organized luau experience from start to finish. It is more on the pricier side, but the food, performances, and service were up to the standard we paid for! They are a family run luau, and everyone comes together to put on the best performance. I don't remember who the MC was but his hosting was amazing, lively, and hilarious. The luau involves a series of activities before the discussion of how the food is made, which I sadly missed out on and didn't get to experience. You are served food and then get to watch the Hula dances, cultural traditions, and fire show. We were given drink tickets, which was one drink from the list of cocktails offered on the menu, but to add on a piña colada for example, was $5 extra. I got the Lilikoi Sour, I believe. I liked my drink, and thought it was perfect to sip on. Now the food? Incredible portions. A generous plate includes pulled pork, chicken, mac salad, greens, a hawaiian roll, and a scoop of white rice. On the side was a few fruit, coconut jello, and a slice of coconut cake. Everything was so authentic and that pulled pork was delicious! The dances were full of energy and the fire show was my favorite, especially their youngest one doing the fire show I was amazed at everyone's skill. I've been to one prior luau before but this one blows it away. The people were fantastic, welcoming and very accommodating. We learned a lot throughout the evening about the culture, dances and chants of the different nations of Polynesia. The performances were all top notch and they topped it off with a stellar mesmerizing fire dance at the end. Our two young boys (4 yo and 8 yo) were able to get through the entire show though they were a bit tired at the end. The MC was funny, adding bits of humor and local knowledge along the way. Onward to the food. The food isn't served buffet style, but they are always asking if you wanted more and would bring you extra if you wanted. The Kalua pork was fantastic, full of flavor. My wife found it a little salty but it was my favorite of the trip thus far. The chicken was also fantastic, roasted with a sweet soy glaze. My wife and I were both surprised at how good the salad dressing was, a nice vinaigrette with crunchy walnuts. The cake was also soft and delicious, per my wife, but I didn't get a chance to try since I was already quite full by the time. The fruit was fantastic, ripe and bounding with flavor. We came early and walked up the falls before the luau started. The entrance to the Waimea Valley is free with the luau but you have to pay for parking. 10/10, would absolutely go again! I went to a 5pm slot on Feb. 19. It was worth the hour long drive from Waikiki, where my friend and I were staying. Everyone there was so nice and friendly! We had Gold tickets and had a good view of the stage. The event started with hands-on activities, like braiding your own head crown, getting a beautiful flower lei, trying out a Hawaiian game where you pass sticks to a partner (I believe it's called tititorea), and husking a coconut (which they later crack open for you to drink). They put on a food demo using traditional Hawaiian cooking methods. The food was good: we had kalua pig, chicken with sauce, rice with furikake (?), mac salad, green salad, cut fruit, haupia (coconut pudding), and a slice of coconut cake from Ted's Bakery (a famous bakery nearby). I don't eat pork and wish I had been able to request for it not to be on my plate, but I just gave it to my friend. The staff walked around making conversation and refilling drinks. It very much felt like attending a family party with amazing, hospitable hosts. You can request for more food if you want and don't have to get up to do so. We also had drink tickets and the nonalcoholic one we tried was very sweet but good. The show was amazing! I loved how they featured dances from different Polynesian cultures. My favorite were the fire performances. The emcee was hilarious all throughout the night! He had us laughing from the cooking demonstration until the very end of the show. I would suggest taking your pictures before it gets too dark. They have a nice yard with mountains in the background that was nice for pictures. I was hoping to get sunset pictures but the dinner/show was going on during then. I would also suggest bringing a teeny tiny bag as you'll want to have your hands free to do the activities! My only very minor complaint is that the show was really loud at times. We were near the stage and speakers, so that might be why. I wish I had brought ear plugs to protect my hearing. But I loved this luau and love how it's owned and operated by locals!!! Oh, also-you get free access to Waimea Falls with your luau purchase, and the entrance /parking to the luau is in the same place. The walk to the falls is paved and very easy. My friend and I did the walk first (about 2 hours before the start of the luau), changed into our luau clothes, then checked in for the luau. I would forever recommend this place for anyone coming to oahu wanting to attend a luau event. I've been here twice now and would love to make it three times in the future. I enjoyed the all you can eat food because of its amazing flavor and balanced plate (they serve the same plates for lunch and dinner so you won't miss out on anything if you go to the earlier time slot). Everyone is very welcoming and treats you with respect and kindness. No bad energy here. I'm unsure of the name of the hosts i've had but they were very friendly and kept the audience well entertained with jokes and great stories of their culture. Dont worry about being in the sun during the show because all of the tables are in the shade. Your luau ticket does include admission to the waimea falls so keep that in mind and plan to get there earlier or stay later after lunch so you can check it out and swim. Came across a lot of great reviews on Toa Luau when I looked for luaus in Oahu. I have nothing to compare it with since this was my first luau but it was a really great experience. I originally picked the 12:30PM one but that got cancelled. I rescheduled to the 5PM show. About an hour from Waikiki, it's located in Waimea where the valley garden and falls are. We did not hike anymore since we've been here a few days before. There are three packages to choose from: silver, gold and VIP. The differences are on the seating area and the amount of drink tickets included (they have both alcoholic and nonalcoholic options). Got the gold one which was close but not too close to the front. When you check in, you are given a flower lei and they escort you to your seat. Shortly after, the cultural activities begin. These were fun as they were interactive. You get to participate in coconut weaving, opening a coconut, trying poi, and many others. Kava ceremony follows. After this, you'll head back to the dining area where dinner will be served. Food was very good. A Polynesian show follows. The host of the show was so funny and lively. A lot of dancing and great performances including a fire knife show from this year's winner. Energy was high and very much palpable. Everyone in the audience enjoyed. There's a photo opportunity with the performers at the end. Great experience, definitely worth the money.
