I am updating my review here so people can be more informed and aware. a couple of months ago, my aunty offered to help me with my aquarium maintenance service costs and I was very appreciative for her kind generosity. The only stipulation was that she would only work with Tyson over at "The Aquarium Shop" in Pearl City. At first, I was saddened that I had to end my working relationship with Damien, however fast forward to now, and I have to say it was a blessing in disguise and I want to share what I have learned in a short time. First of all, I can honestly say that the true professionalism that this new company has provided to me has been second to none here on O'ahu. When I initially reached out to them, they came over to do a complimentary assessment of my 180 gal aquarium. Upon arrival, they immediately noticed several problems, and told me that all of my fishes clearly displayed "HLLE" disease on their exteriors. This was in large part due to the overly excessive amount of carbon that was placed inside my tank's filtration system by "WAS". I had asked Damien about this carbon concern that I had read about and he downplayed it, telling me that they use it at Sea Life Park, but he did remove it when I asked him to. Anyway, "TAS" immediately removed the carbon residue and all other bio-filter socks (Algon, Purigen, Ceramic Beads etc.). They told me they don't use carbon in any of their client tanks nor in any of the tanks at their shop. Only in rare instances do they ever use it and Tyson shared that he has a 1,000 gal saltwater aquarium client! It has taken several visits (at a cost) to vacuum out the carbon residue that remained in my filtration system and sand gravel. Also, I was told that the size of the protein skimmer that "WAS" ordered for my 180 gal tank is excessively large for my system and they would have not recommended it. Another quality thing that the "TAS" provides during each maintenance service visit is they test my water pH, ammonia, nitrate/nitrite, copper and salinity levels and keep track in my file. Another thing that was not provided by "WAS". Another reason for the disease in my tank was the source from where I purchased my fishes from - Coral Fish Hi. which Damien recommended I purchase from. I learned that they don't properly quarantine their fishes and have lost approx. 6 fishes from them in a very short time of adding them to my tank after being told by "CFH" that they were ready to be added to my tank! Needless to say, I no longer do business with that company. I have now come to the realization that I need to move on for several reasons, and will now go ahead and restart my ENTIRE tank system!!!! What a waste of time and money, but I will restock my aquarium with all new fishes and be confident that my aunty has Tyson helping me with all my aquarium needs - live fish stock, frozen/dry feed and maintenance service! read more

We got our waterfall back:-) He did the whole 9-yards and left me with NO cleaning up after him: he got rid of the muck, carefully trimmed some plants that were in the way and put them in the green dumpster & retrieved a yard light that was in pond. He also programmed our timer which wound up not working very well. So he got another one from his car, set it up & showed me how to use it. Didn't charge for that.
