I am so thankful for the Aloha Hawaiian Parrot Association. I was given a parrot several years ago from a friend who could not care for it anymore. I contacted Cinde (President) and she was at my home the next day, helping me navigate what to do, how to care for a parrot and signs to look for. The parrot was not well, probably had been abused/neglected in the past, and needed a vet. Cinde took time from her day to come with me and speak to the vet for me. If it had not been for Cinde, I don't know if my parrot would have survived. I was not even a member at the time! All Cinde cared about was that the parrot would be okay and that I was committed to taking care of my new bird. Cinde would have even tried to find a home for her if I didn't want to keep her. Needless to say, I became a member right away and am extremely grateful to Cinde and the Association for all of the support over the past few years. read more

I have been a member of this parrot club for years. It's a good place to make new friends with people who also love birds and parrots. Whether you are new to parrots and other birds, an experienced feathered family member, or just curious this bird club will be a great boost in your life. There are benefits to becoming a member but it is not a requirement. We have monthly meetings nearly every month. Lately it has been online through Zoom. I love being a part of the family and I've gained friends for life...friends that understand exactly why we choose pets with feathers. read more

Aloha Hawaiian Parrot Association are the greatest group of people who are so informative, helpful , and always willing to give a helping hand to make sure the Parrots out there get the best care possible. I first learned of this group at the animal show a few years back after loosing my Rose Crested Cockatoo while on vacation in the mainland. I signed up to be a member and eventually adopted my "Mele" a yellow head Amazon. I have had wonderful support and I can't express how grateful I feel to have saved this beautiful creature that was craving a loving and understanding home. It took time, lots of time and Patience but Mele has found her forever home and has fit right in with our 3 cats and dog. Readers BEWARE! This club is like the Hotel California... You can check out any time you want but you can never leave. Although there are a couple of nice people in the club, the leadership is plagued with problems. One thing that was puzzling is that people are required to pay dues for this club, however none of us could ever figure out what we got for the membership dues. My personal experience was one of harassment and bullying which started about the time I stopped attending their monthly meetings. Now that I quit completely, I am being harassed with libelous emails and public postings making all kinds of ridiculous claims. From what I understand, this club has been in steady decline for a few years. Don't waste your time being bullied and disrespected... If you do... Just remember, you can check out any time you want... But you can NEVER leave! The good news is...from the ashes of a dying group, a new parrot club was founded called Hawaiian Feathered Friends Network. read more

ALOHA HAWAIIAN PARROT ASSOCIATION is a great way to get in contact with other bird owners. It's been around almost 30 years and is by far the oldest on Oahu. The club sends out frequent emails about upcoming events and has guest speakers. Wether your a new bird owner or have a flock there is something that can help you in this club. I have never had a bad experience and found this group extremely helpful in our transition moving from the mainland here on where to get food, toys, hand me down cages and stands, and doctors that specialize in birds that know what they're doing. read more

Aloha Hawaiian Parrot Association is a fantastic group with wonderful people working behind the scenes to help birds and their owners. I had been a "fan" of the Facebook page for quite some time and, when my red bellied parrot, Sunny, escaped, I wrote to Cinde at AHPA and she setup a phone call with incredibly detailed directions on how to help get our winged friend home. She spoke with me several times and kept in contact at each step of the way until, less that 24 hours, Sunny was home with us. It was very complicated and we live in Chicago in a very busy area next to the freeway. All of these things that made it difficult to get to him were things that made me feel like he was lost or dead. I had cried and was angry at myself, but AHPA said "let's worry about getting him home instead." They didn't blame me, they were kind, and they had Sunny's best interest at heart. The bad reviews are crazy -- anyone who has interacted with Cinde would know something is very "off" about those. read more

I would have left Stars completely blank on this one if it had allowed me to. I spent a very short time with this so called club. I paid a years worth of membership fees up front. I catered an entire event for this club and was treated worse than a slave the whole time. The president, and I use that term loosely, is a controlling narcissist. She has stalked me, harassed both me and my family, calling my husbands work on numerous occasions. She has done drive bys of my home and fabricated stories of a stolen bird. She has contacted my HOA and tried to have me kicked out of my home. Basically this woman is nuts. She never did refund my membership dues. A true club that has membership fees provides it's club members with a quarterly booklet of articles and information. That is what the fees are for. Not this club...they take your money and probably pay their cell phone bill with it. I'd love to see an audit of those cooked books lol. Personal opinions aside, I met quite a few wonderful people in the club and was very saddened by having to leave them when I left the club. So it was a relief when I realized that a lot of the good people from that club had left also and had joined up with the new bird club, Hawaiian Feathered Friends Network. The atmosphere is friendly, there is no belittling, or harassment. And best of all, membership is free :) read more

This is a great group of people! A few months ago I sat in on one their monthly meetings (hosted on zoom due to the pandemic) and then became a member. The members are extremely knowledgeable and willing to assist others. Lots of advice and tips shared around. The president of the club, Cinde Fisher, was very helpful in helping me to adopt a wonderful conure. I highly recommend meeting and joining this group if you have a parrot in your family, or if you are considering one, or if you are simply just a parrot enthusiast. It's a fantastic group! read more

I joined this club about 7 months ago with high hopes of joining a group with similar interests. Everyone in the group was super nice with a huge focus on the birds and ownership. Although......there is one huge problem with the club; the president, Cinde. She maintains control over every aspect of the club, from emails, email lists, fb posts, etc. Her own posts/emails are riddled with slander of other clubs and previous members etc. When confronted about her slander, she promptly removed me from FB posts on the club site and emailed me that it was inappropriate for me to post negative things on the site......WHAT?!?!? I was simply asking her to be more appropriate. I would avoid this club at all costs and look into the other clubs on island. read more

I have no other choice but to choose the lowest rating as 1 star. I wish there was a selection of "no stars" which I would have preferred for this particular review. Where to begin because there is so much wrong with this club?? I am hoping that people will do their research so that they don't go through all the headaches that I have been through. When I joined, I believed this to be a Parrot Club I didn't know that you had to have a Junior High mentality. It soon became 15 months of complete and utter dread. Why you ask? I was very quickly nominated for the Board as the position of Treasurer. Board meetings were agonizing to say the least. They could have quite easily been done via email but no, we all had to put in whatever spare time after club meetings to discuss club matters. Whatever input Board members provided was quickly squashed by the President. It really didn't matter what any Board member had to say because the President did whatever she had decided. The constant micromanaging and phone calls on ridiculous non-urgent things. I had told the President many times NOT to call me during my work hours, but she continued to do so. The Bylaws govern the club, but they are not followed. Per the Bylaws there is supposed to be (1) a monthly newsletter and there isn't one (2) Membership is supposed to be prorated and it is not (3) Dues are $25 for Family membership but somehow that was changed to $30 without an amendment to the Bylaws (4) visitors can attend 1 meeting before requiring to pay membership fees but the Bylaws state 3 meetings again, no amendment. Board members and club members were told by the President that it was a 501(c)3 and later to our shock found out that it indeed isn't. If you see the club's Facebook page have a good scroll down and you will see the nastiness and the constant slandering of others. Who in their right mind does this??? I resigned in 2013 and it felt wonderful to be free of the toxicity of that club. Unfortunately it hasn't stopped it has continued. There has been a constant barrage of accusations and bullying of innocent people. There always seems to be someone accused of "stealing" birds. It is all ridiculous, like the old story "the boy who cried wolf". I think everyone has grown real tired of it all. This so called club has been in steady decline for several years and has a ghastly reputation in the Parrot Community which includes Mainland and outer island. I have lost count of how many Boards have just walked away under the leadership of this President. read more

My experience with the organization and my review of all the prior reviews made me decide to write this review. Simply, I lost my parrot and the President of the association contacted me to provide FREE help and information... I subsequently became a member of the association and became a foster parent to a bird that was surrendered to Aloha Parrot. This poor creature had been moved between fosters homes several times and the President (Cinde) was working to find a permanent home for her. Moreover, this bird was ill. The parrot was taken to the vet. (Feather and Fur) in Kailua to a Avian Specialist. Dr Brian Walsh. I watched (Cinde) Aloha Parrot president pay vet bills... Knowing that this bird was much work for our family, she has offered herself to help in every way possible, including contacting and arranging visits with veterinary specialists. And while the association does require fee's to fully adopt a bird from the association. I can honestly say that (President Cinde) is more concerned for the welfare and correct placement of these parrots then collecting fees. Having spent time on multiple occasions with her and the Avian veterinarian, upon listening to the conversations I truly believe that this organization and its president does a considerable amount of work trying to help and provide for these creatures who have been let down by humanity in more ways then one..... That said, it takes a "special person" to be a leader, take charge and advocate for many of these voiceless exotic birds. However, it's a dim and narrow view of those who would rather discuss personality traits and missing sandwiches to underscore the real purpose and success of this organization. I don't see how the "membership fees" and "adoption fees" could ever amount to be worthy of the accusations in previous reviews let alone provide any lifestyle enhancement versus the amount of time, effort and work involved. And furthermore its not what I have witnessed. read more
