Aloha Hawaiian Parrot Association are the greatest group of people who are so informative, helpful , and always willing to give a helping hand to make sure the Parrots out there get the best care possible. I first learned of this group at the animal show a few years back after loosing my Rose Crested Cockatoo while on vacation in the mainland. I signed up to be a member and eventually adopted my "Mele" a yellow head Amazon. I have had wonderful support and I can't express how grateful I feel to have saved this beautiful creature that was craving a loving and understanding home. It took time, lots of time and Patience but Mele has found her forever home and has fit right in with our 3 cats and dog. Mahalo to this wonderful group for all you do to help these amazing Birds and people who reach out for help.

This review is in no way shape or form meant to bash anyone who has gotten a dog from Oahu GSD. It…read moreis, instead, to inform the choices of future potential owners and warn them. Especially because they deleted their google reviews because they got bad reviews. Firstly, I want to say from the first day I personally met the people behind Oahu GSD I should have run away. Not only did they say that "having puppies is a vacation [to the dogs]" but that many people have tried but no one on island came close to what they were doing. I agree with the second statement, namely due to the fact that no one on island is producing GSD puppies at a scale that a puppy mill would. Many of these dogs have been overbred, and are showing symptoms of it. Despite that, they are continuously bred and forced to rear pups. Not only this, but their breeding stock is not properly shown nor tested. Oahu GSD has several dogs they purchased from Germany, and once they received them they have not been tested, shown, nor have they been in any dog sports as far as I have seen. They are kept on property. Which to me means two things: these breeders do not care for their dogs outside of the money they can make from their puppies, and that the promise of "sound temperament" is empty. If you aren't testing and putting your dogs in situations where their temperament is tested, you cannot say their temperament is sound. Secondly, puppies from this puppy mill constantly are going home with health problems and health defects. My own puppy after only two days had to be rushed to the vet due to a bleeding skin infection- which Oahu German Shepherds had said was a resolved issue during their puppy-hood. The vet had to put my 8 week old puppy on antibiotics, which he said he only did due to the severity of the issue. On top of that, we had to bring her back several times for chronic diarrhea. This diarrhea has not resolved despite it being several months since we have brought our puppy home. Believe it or not, my puppy got off on a relatively mild case. I have talked to several other puppy owners from Oahu GSD and their pups have had parasites, skin infections, chronic diarrhea, and birth defects. Despite this, Oahu GSD constantly says their program is "the best." Finally, and the most heartbreaking part for me, is the reactivity and lack of confidence many of these dogs have. My own puppy has had a large amount of reactivity issues, even during her 8 week to 16 week socialization period they were incredibly reactive and fearful of other dogs. Even a dog barking on television would send her into an anxiety-ridden spiral. I do not recommend you get a puppy from this puppy mill. It is deplorable what they allow their dogs and puppies to go through, and it is a shame that they have marketed themselves to be anything other than a money making machine.

In addition she was having diarrhea and it was driving me crazy as she had it all over her pen and in our house. I called this clinic as my original vet (Aloha Affordable in Aiea) but they couldn't take her on such short notice. I called Manoa Valley clinic and they said they could take my puppy in 30 minutes. Dr Ashley is professional, she genuinely cares about your pet. She gave my puppy an allergy shot in her back and put her on a bland diet. They tested her stool for parasites. I was sent home with prescribed science diet canned food, and probiotics. I was worried that I'd get a huge bill, but thankfully it was reasonable, a little over $300. Her eyes got better and her diarrhea subsided. I really loved the vet tech, she played with her in the room, the entire time. I cannot remember her name, but she was young, hapa and had really long hair. When my puppy had diarrhea on the floor the tech refused to let me clean it even though I firmly offered. Dr Ashley and her make a great team as they are both patient, with an empathetic bedside manner. They take their time in talking with you and answering all of your questions. You don't feel rushed out or that they just want to charge you to make money. This location is very convenient and it's easy to get an appointment. It isn't cheap but I believe it is worth the money being that Manoa is quite pricey.

They got us in straight away for a same day sick visit even though I was a brand new client. Dr. Nakaoka always took the time to fill me in on exactly what was happening, and she explained in detail all the possible ways we could move forward with diagnostic testing and treatment. The receptionists & techs were just as great. Always kind and cheery. Everyone was so sweet and loving towards my cat - and so patient with my wild 2yo that I had to take with me to every visit, thank you! You can just tell that everyone here loves animals and works so hard to take excellent care of the animals and owners that come into this clinic. I will defo continue coming here & i would recommend this practice to anyone looking for a new vet. Thank you again to Dr. Nakaoka and all the support staff for taking care of my sweet girl Miss Poggers.

So I was looking for a pet boarding for ten days in the month of May 2026. We live in town and…read morewe're looking for someplace for our fur-baby, 3yo German shepherd terrier mix, to stay while we were gone. We were looking for a reputable place who would care for our pet as if she was home. Someplace she would feel safe since we know she has anxiety issues and is really shy around strangers and may be aggressive if provoked. We tried leaving her with family, but because of her temperament, they suggested a boarding care. She is great with their dog, but they too were looking for boarding for their pet. And because they go to a pet daycare weekly, they were sending their pet to their favorite pet daycare. So while I was searching a came across Happy Puppy Kingdom. The website and instagram pages showed doggies having fun and their prices were reasonable and their care packages were affordable. We made contact through Yelp and on to our introductory appointment. We also were able to provide Kamalani's vaccine records. As certain vaccines must be given in order to book the appointment's "meet and greet". The Owner, Sophia, was so caring, gentle, and loving towards Kama. She talked to her and built a trust for us and Kama. So we started to take Kama for weekly visits starting in January 2026. We knew Kama was going to be reluctant to go because she hasn't been around other dogs a lot and only family & family pets, and knew getting her used to HPK may take a while. As the months went by she started to know which days she got to go visit "her friends". We literally asked the day before if she wanted to "see your friends!"" And she would get so excited. Jumping up, wagging her tail, looking around for Miss Sophia. And when I'd drop her off she can't wait to get out of the car. In April we did the first overnight, and it was hard, for us. Constantly looking at the clock, expecting her to greet us at the door, and her hugs and kisses...nothing!! But she did great!! HPK said she didn't eat the food we provided, so they gave her their homemade food & she really enjoyed it. So when the days came for us to leave we knew Kama was in great care with HPK. We got pictures and videos of Kama when we were away. And it turned out, our in-laws also sent their 7yo hybrid poodle, Mochi, there too. And they said Kama protected her when she was scared. When we came to pick them up they were so happy to see us!! We know Happy Puppy Kingdom took such great care of our fur-babies and that this is a loving and caring place to leave them if we ever plan another trip. Sophia reassured us and gained our trust & Kama loves her too!!!
