A nice feature is the ability to walk through pool area onto the narrow beach. The hotel is near the harbor, so the quality of the water is uncertain. The primary reason for the three star rating is the poor maintenance of the annex building where our room was. The exterior of the annex clearly needs improvement. Our room had lots chipped paint and wood finishes. The bathroom door was missing some of its painted veneer. The bathroom had been repainted but there were paint splashes on the mirror wood trim. The bathroom ventilation did not work. The curved shower curtain rod over the tub was loose on the wall and bending slightly toward the floor, as if someone had tried to do chin ups on it. The end of the shower curtain kept sliding down the curved curtain rod and away from the wall, which made it impossible to not get water on the floor. The air conditioner cycled on and off in a very annoying fashion. The compressor came on and ramped up to speed and the fan would blow for 30 to 60 seconds and then it shut down only to repeat the process in another five minutes or so. We probably should have set the fan to a continuous setting, but it honestly didn't occur to us. There was no daily maid service during our 2-night stay unless we requested it. All in all, our stay was fine, but not great.

I had just completed a 5.5-hour flight and was extremely exhausted, but I couldn't lie down or sleep because there was constant cutting, drilling, and loud construction noise. It was unbearable. I went outside and politely asked the workers to stop or at least move the work further away from my room, but they refused. I then started recording a video to document the situation and have evidence for a review. At that point, one of the workers approached me, began threatening me, and tried to take my phone. It was a very disturbing experience. I went to the front desk and asked them to stop the situation, but they refused to help. Yes, I raised my voice out of frustration, but instead of resolving the issue, they called the police and made it seem like I was at fault. If you are looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay, please do not choose this hotel. There is no respect for guests here -- it feels like they only care about money. I struggled to get my refund back and, after a lot of effort, I finally managed to recover my money. I did not even stay there for two hours before leaving. Honestly, when I left, I felt relieved and happy knowing I would never return to this place again. As for the rooms, there was a very strong smell of mold. I did not see visible mold, but the odor was overwhelming the moment I opened the door. The photos make the rooms look spacious, modern, and well-maintained, but in reality, they are small, worn out, and the furniture looks old and used. That moldy smell is something I will never forget.

Napili Sunset was great for a short trip. The one and two bedroom apartments are literally steps from the ocean. Walk down the path to the protected Napili Beach to enjoy the gentle waves, green sea turtles and the golden sand between your toes. Grab a boogie board or noodle to borrow for the afternoon. Snorkeling gear is available if you didn't bring your own. Beautiful coral reefs with so many colorful fish. Stroll along the ocean and enjoy a sky filled with stars at night. Enjoy the garden landscaped with giant hibiscus and palm trees. Gabriel was so nice when he checked us into the room. Love the waterproof wristbands which serve as keys. Thanks for the tips to book a last minute early morning whale watching cruise. Amazing to see hundreds of whales including baby whales learning to breach. The room was simple but cute for a weekend beach stay. Fully stocked kitchen available. Oversized balcony with a peekaboo view of the ocean overlooking the pool and garden. Even binoculars were available for whale watching. Nice perks also included free parking, good WiFi and no resort fees. Fresh towels are available at the office. The layout was great for our…read morefamily, and the full kitchen was well equipped with cooking utensils, pots, and pans, making it easy to prepare meals. A rice cooker was available upon request, which was a nice bonus. There were a few maintenance issues during our stay. The dishwasher was old and appeared dirty, so we chose not to use it. The coffee maker was broken when we arrived, but the front office promptly replaced it after we requested one. Some of the table lamps were not working because a couple of light bulbs were missing. The living room couch felt old and outdated, but having three TVs with cable was convenient. The beds were comfortable, and the master bedroom air conditioner worked very well. However, the AC in the second bedroom struggled to cool the room. Maintenance checked it and recommended setting it to 68°F. It eventually improved, but it took about 24 hours before we noticed a difference. The biggest downside was the master bathroom. It is quite dated, had a noticeable moldy smell, and we saw both cockroaches and ants during our stay. Overall, the unit was spacious and functional, and the staff responded quickly when we needed assistance. The carpet needs a full shampoo as do all the furniture seat cushions. Both sides. All chairs. The oven doesn't work but the burners do, they just don't sit flat but do smoke when turned on. I needed to bake a dinner , so big problem. So begins the problem. That alone is a deal breaker. Photo for bedroom not current. Bed rearranged to lean against on wall for support. The bedroom is now set up so you can only get in on one side. One corner leg is broken off the frame. The bedroom tv now faces the formica sink with the big cigarette burn. So not usable to watch. The cubboards and closets are full of old left behind gear, umbrellas, toys and water bottles. The other closet door is on a slide and stuck. Full of extra wall pictures , a fan, a Lamp and a ladder. The very dated bamboo tables under glass tops look like they never have been wiped down. So a layer of dirt on your finger is the test. Only One smoke alarm and no posted taxation certificate so it may not have a STR certificate at all. The answer, move. After a couple phone calls and texts we agreed to pay for the first night. We had no choice. So a 210.00 night with fees for accidental damage , cleaning, air bnb fee, taxes to county, it turned into a 750.00 one night stay. That charge is for a perfect apartment and 1/2 the kitchen was unusable and the refrigerator ran all night. So, very far from what was charged. An Expensive lesson but no way to know till you arrive. My other nine days were refunded with an apology. Because they had no alternate stay to offer and the condition and unusable oven. We Booked another $4K stay in Kihei and asked for a refund for this joint. I let the after 5 pm night operator know an hour after i opened the door. This has never happened in many years of travel. I have screen shots of the calls and concerns and I experienced a significant insect infestation in the room that affected my sleep and comfort on the last day and the ac wasn't even working. Their dirty sofa had something that bit me 20 minutes after I sat down. They replaced my room after I had a panic attack....The replacement room was clearly in MUCH better condition, which confirms the original room had issues. The guy STEVE said that clearly I was the one with the issues for not calling them all week since... he REFUSED to help. I was able to put my screen door up but I told them it was still broken. I would leave daily to enjoy the island sometimes out for over 10 hours so by the time I came back their office had closed. The maintenance guy told me they all knew about the stench and odors in the room and the wetness that attracted the insects but they still put me in there. I think it's a racial thing because I saw the other guests and they clearly had better rooms!! I would leave ZERO stars if I could because they refuse to apologize and take accountability. This is beyond disgusting and my friend found MOLD actual mold in his pillows where he is staying he has a baby and he also got bug bites. DISGUSTING and unprofessional they ruined my vacation. I am going to make a big deal now because they REFUSED ANY ACCOUNTABILITY not even a breakfast in the house. They ruined our last moment in Maui. I stayed in A306... my friend stayed in 511 his pillow had mold we have photos. The room smelled so horrible I had to call health department because it smells like dead carcass. The maintenance guy sprayed the entire room with bug spray and my aunt got intoxicated nauseated and dizzy. It's not until I called health department that they actually apologized but by then the damage has been done.
