Moldy leaking AC in front room
    Jacque H.

DO NOT BOOK HERE!!! This place was filthy disgusting! They had huge roaches " water bugs!" Both washer and dryer were broken. The blankets provided by the hotel are ancient, itchy and stink. The walls are filthy! The springs were popping out of the mattress! Both stove and dishwasher were filthy. Housekeeping came in and went into drawers they weren't supposed to and touched my bedding I bought from my house after I asked them not to. Housekeeping was asked to mop and brought a dirty STINKY mop from another room they were cleaning cross contaminating germs. I had to ask them to leave! The AC felt like a swamp cooler as the day got hotter. SHOUT OUT TO JAMES IN THE OFFICE WHO FIXED THE LEAK AND MOLD IN THE AC PROMPTLY! He was the only person who I truly thought gave a crap about the room. The TV's in the room are old. The couch is so far away from the TV in the front room that you can't see or hear it. ESPECIALLY WITH THE OLD AC UNIT GOING! The toilet water ran all night. I feel like this place needs to be repaired ASAP! It's a health hazard and outdated!

    Lots of chickens here!

You won't find a better deal for the reasonable rates! We needed a three bedroom place for our winter trip, and this checked all the boxes. We loved the kitchenette, storage, eating and lounging areas, and the closet with items for the beach. It was really roomy and much bigger than what you are likely to find elsewhere on Maui. Perhaps the biggest selling point was the washer and dryer, since the four of us were able to knock out our laundry several times during our week and a half stay. The partial ocean view was really lovely, and it was easy to walk to the main road from the stairs to get to the beach and local businesses. It was easy to get to plenty of stores by foot, and we really enjoyed finding places for breakfast on our morning walks. The furnishings aren't luxurious, but everything was in good working order. There was plenty of parking for each section, so we had no difficulty finding a space right by our unit no matter when we were returning from excursions. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. There were a few things that were a bit disruptive, but none of them were the hotel's fault. Most of our stay was quiet. However, during the last two days someone checked in to the unit beneath us with what I could only assume was a herd of elephants learning parkour. (The next morning, I saw the two children looking out from the balcony screaming at 6 AM. The mother looked at me and shrugged saying, "It's their first time in Hawaii." And...???!) The walls were literally shaking all the way to the third level as they ran around, so don't assume an upper-level room will result in more quiet. My mom was also not really excited about her "rooster alarm clock," but a noise machine app on my phone was enough for me to sleep. Despite our best efforts to keep everything clean and empty the trash regularly, the kitchen was overrun by ghost ants. However, you'll get ants and bugs pretty much everywhere in Hawaii, since they also thrive with the warm weather. The employees were all wonderful. We really appreciated the information they provided throughout our stay. We even received a lovely fruit basket to enjoy during the trip. Overall, we were happy with our stay here. I would definitely come back if I was looking for a place for a group and needed multiple rooms.

We had a fabulous time we picked this place not knowing how wonderful it was going to be. It was a two bedroom suite overlooking the ocean. The pool was fabulous. The owner of the property is on site and takes care of everything We got to meet him talk with him it is wonderfully well kept property And I absolutely 100% recommend choosing to stay here ... it is a timeshare property, but you can rent it per night, and it actually is reasonably rated

First off, I'm impressed by the extra mile the Aston resorts go to take care of their guests. So, on Oct 2 there was a significant brush fire- closing off Honoapiilani Hwy right as we landed at the Kahului airport. At almost every point (gate, rental agency, Costco) we were told that we had no chance of getting to Lahaina. And where did we make reservations? At the Aston Papakea in Lahaina! So, we called the Aston Papakea resort to see whether they could transfer our reservations, to a sister resort-for one night or as long as needed due to the circumstances. We were told to come to the Aston Maui Hill as they had available Condos and it would be free-of-charge as we had reservations for another Aston resort. We were one of the lucky ones as our trip wasn't hugely affected by the brush fire and my little ones were in bed by 9pm. The next day, I found out that many tourists were not as lucky as we were and some were stuck on the highway till past midnight. We understand that things happen that can affect everyone's plans: locals and tourist. And no resort or hotel is obliged to save their guests' visits as they and their employees are affected just as much. But I am very impressed by the Aston resorts and their efforts to house stranded guests. The condo we stayed at was comfortable with all the needed facilities. Also, I love how the condos have a washer and dryer combo. You definitely need it when in Hawaii. Aston Maui Hill, mahalo nui loa!

what's not to like here. A wonderful resort operated by wondefful ppl. Dennis Costas and Nacy Benson made it happen for us. A month in paradise for us. So relaxing in a beautiful areas and reasonably priced. They are ver accommodating. My husband is handicapped in a w/c. Maui Hill provided ramps so he was safe and a shower chair. There are safety bars in the bathroom too. We rented a ramp for our Hertz truck to put his motorized Gogo Pride in from Gammies n they delivered it. Our Alaskan Air flight was great too. He could drive hiss Gogo to the plane. They have a small w/c in the isle to transpory him. All very helpful. The pool at Maui Hill is very nuce, a get acquainted party on Monday eve across the road n private up on a bluff with ocean views.. TS too or rent. A putting green, tennis n shuffleboard, towels for pool, handy person to help with reservations. An established place with beautiful grounds, AC nit too far from airport n away fom crowds. Love it here. Thank you Dennis n Nancy from the bottom of our hearts. The big fruit basket was nice too. Great Aloha hospitality. Home away feom home. I will always stay here with my family. Large rooms, 2 br, 2 bath with full kitchen n outside BBQ. Plenty of parking n crew tlo help. just a super place TV in every room. just great, thx again. (sorry i cant correct errs)

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED, the Aston Maui Hill. It was our first time to be in Maui. We loved the place just as soon as we entered the facility. The grounds are immaculate!!! The rooms are large and spacious. They have everything you need. The queen bed was firm but comfortable. Our room was very nice and clean. It is located just on the outskirts of Wailea. It's located in Kihei but just by a few blocks. Across the street is a beautiful beach that we just loved to go to and walk. Very close to the Kihei restaurants. Within walking distance. There is a Safeway not to far away from the hotel, if you need some groceries. We found it to be the perfect location for us.

Can't beat the view from the Lanai!

Aston Maui Hill is amazing! Dennis and his staff went above and beyond, especially after our party ran into a bit of an issue. Their assistance was priceless! The condos are located right off the main road in Kihei but not too close that you can hear the traffic. Only four units to a building so you don't feel packed in. Each one (we rented three separate units) was clean, well stock kitchen, comfortable for a family to spread out and had a good size lanai to enjoy the beautiful views and sunsets. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept with a swimming pool, tennis courts and community BBQs. Can not recommend this place enough!

Complete disrespect for my personal items.

In comparison to some other brands such as Aman, Four Seasons Maui felt below average given its price point. The resort itself felt small and a bit old. The service felt very below average and inconsistent. One employee would tell you the sun umbrellas at the pools near the bushes are not adjustable while literally 2 mins later another employee came and adjusted the sun umbrella next to me and also mine when I asked. When we went to the adult pool we were told by one employee that we needed to be on a waitlist. After 3 hours when we finally got notified that it was our turn and went back we noticed other guests just literally went and grabbed empty benches and staffs were just setting the benches up for them(no, they didn't even know there was a waitlist)... Our canoe experience at the last day of our stay got canceled due to high wind and the concierge never notified us etc. Many employees gave me the vibe that they don't really care. They just gave me fake smiles and robotic responses. Maybe Amond would take better care of us...if he is still alive... The view was very amazing. We even spotted whales many times.

I have stayed in a ocean view suite and standard king rooms. They either have balconies or patios that lead out to the pool area. I prefer the balconies but it's personal preference. One thing to note, to access the pools, there are a significant amount of steps. You can take an elevator to the Bumbeye beach bar (level 2) but you will have to walk up and down to get to the lowest level pool and to the beach. From start to finish, our entire experience was absolutely wonderful. The hotel staff were all extremely kind and engaging, offering helpful tips and suggestions. We had nothing but positive interactions with the valet and the front desk. The staff that work at the on-site restaurants were also lovely. Our ocean view room was clean and spacious. It had all of the amenities we could hope for and the shower had wonderful water pressure. My only request would be that there was a shelf in the shower to put the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, as we ended up having to put them on the floor and bending over in the shower while pregnant is not an easy task. The linens were soft and I appreciated the opportunity to earn food and beverage credit or Hilton reward points if we opted out of having our room cleaned each day. The blackout curtains in the room were also wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the sunset from our balcony each evening and listening to the live music that was performed each night down by the pool. There was ample pool space with plenty of pool chairs, both in the sun and in the shade. Access to the beach was extremely easy. While we were there, we also took part in morning yoga, access to the complementary aquatic activities, a sound bath under the full moon, and the infamous luau. I also booked a prenatal massage at the spa, which was absolutely divine. Access to the Courtesy Car to drop us off at nearby restaurants for reservations was extremely convenient. We appreciated the complementary reusable water bottles and the local snacks and beverages that were restocked in our mini bar. All in all, it was an absolute incredible stay and the next time we find ourselves in Maui, we will absolutely be returning to the Andaz.

What I thought were rocks were actually plastic looking boulders. This would have been fine but on the walkway to the Wailea shops there were broken boulders so you see that they are fake and the pond empty. An eyesore. The room service staff were great and took good care of keeping the room clean. However the refrigerator in the room had been turned off and had a stale smell. Having 4 TV's at home and actually had a Samsung I think I know how to troubleshoot problems. As we were getting ready to retire we turned the TV on and were directed to the promotional hotel page. We had no access to regular TV. Called the front desk for help and they asked me "do you know what is wrong?" No that is why I am calling you. Instead of going to bed I had to wait 30 minutes for help to arrive. The problem ended up being on the hotel end and the problem was fixed. The repairman dropped his toolset in my clothing drawer below the TV and left. Which I had to make a trip down to the front desk to drop off. In addition to dropping off the tools I had received a letter in the room telling me of upcoming service and they needed 45 minutes in the room. Not sure why this maintenance was not done on the front end or back end when I left? Now I am getting annoyed and the woman at the front desk said they are SEVERELY understaffed. The manager did give me a $300 credit but the damage was already done. Our room was $815 a night. The pool area was a circus, which I understand because families want that last summer trip. A great portion of the pool was closed for maintenance, including the lazy river. If you want a nice chaise lounge with an umbrella you need to get to the pool very early and stake your claim. So you are competing for your space. One of the days the towel station was out of towels. If you want a preferred area or cabana you are going to pay. There were some positives on the property but the negatives prevailed. The hotel is tired and needs to be upgraded. Especially for a Waldorf Astoria. In retrospect I should have gone down the street to the Four Seasons or the Fairmont. Even though I am a Hilton Honors member.

You have to have a car here to get around, not so in Kaanapali. We enjoy walking around and walking the beaches. You have to drive everywhere to do that here. We have been coming to Maui for over 40 years and enjoy relaxing, going to old and new restaurants and walking the beaches and boardwalks. First time staying here, we won't come again! Pros: Beautiful rooms with very few inconveniences. List in cons! Beautiful pool area and landscaping. Also a few cons! Downtown Kīhei and Wailea not too far my car and more beaches and restaurants to go to. Favorite restaurants: Isana, you can walk to. Beach club, nice staff, good drinks, and great coconut shrimp. Threes, in town, great staff (ask for Josh) and food. Nalu, great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. 30 min walk or short drive. Great happy hour, ahi tacos the best. Monkey pod, but I like the one in Kaanapali best, better views. Salesman Dan Hunter was respectful and informative for our update, not pushy! Beaches nearby: Polo beach, great boardwalk along resorts in Wailea. Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge, you can walk the wooden bridge and then the beach. You can walk the beach all along Kīhei, even across the street, it just isn't easy in some areas. Cons: Need a car! The adult pool at the resort was cloudy and dirty from the pigeon's. Never saw them cleaning the pool until we complained the third day. Then they tried to clean it better l, especially after our review and we complained again. They need to do something about the pigeons before it gets better. The other pools were pristine. You rarely see a pool attendant, no help moving chairs or umbrellas. Only the adult pool area have nice comfortable covers, about 25, the rest are very uncomfortable. Wore down crappy cabanas with dirty covers, no TV's working or refrigerators, not that I would use them, but if you have them they should be in working order. Complained to Chanel, day manager who didn't seemed too concerned. She did come down and looked but no feedback expect pool service did seem to improve, just not resolved. The grab and go is really just a small fast food restaurant, no food only drinks. Are room was great except for dirty floors from something they put on them (photo with stain from wet foot). During what could have been a stressful situation, she made everything much easier for us. We really appreciated her kindness and professionalism. Pros: The staff throughout the property were very friendly and welcoming. The resort did not feel overcrowded, which made for a relaxing stay. Our room was modern, spacious, and comfortable, with a full-size kitchen that was great to have. There are a few areas that could use improvement. Housekeeping could benefit from additional training and attention to detail, as the room cleaning was not as thorough as we would have expected. The patio furniture also appeared as though it had not been cleaned in a very long time, possibly since the property opened. Unfortunately, it was dirty enough that we did not feel comfortable sitting outside and enjoying the patio. Another disappointment was the food situation. The website indicates there is a kitchen on site, but there are actually no restaurants at the property, including by the pool, and there is no real breakfast option. There is a bar across the street with limited hours that serves bar food, as well as a grab-and-go area. We received a coupon for the grab-and-go, but the options with the coupon were extremely limited. We were only able to order a premade McMuffin-style breakfast sandwich, while the other items were not eligible with the coupon. Despite these areas for improvement, we are still giving our stay five stars because of the friendly staff and, most importantly, the way Shermila and the front desk team took care of us during a difficult situation with the storm. That level of service made a lasting impression and was very much appreciated.

Have been lucky enough to stay at Hale Pau Hana 5 times. Donna Bender Maui Calls helped us find and…read morebook our stay. Great helpful friendly staff, lovely grounds, incredible views, choose the exact unit you want to rent, family friendly yet quiet enough for seniors/couples. Best part is being able to walk out back to everything - restaurants, grocery store, shops, liquor store, etc. HPH is a gem.

If it wasn't for the staff I would give it 5 stars. The location is 5 stars. The room and the…read moreview was 5 stars. However the staff? 1 star. Specifically the facilities staff. My son and I were still in the pool on July 6th or 7th at ~8:20pm. I wasn't paying attention to the time. We were on vacation having a good time. Well I later realized the pool closes at 8pm and I genuinely hadn't noticed the posted sign. An employee (an elderly haole man) came outside and yelled "GET OUT OF THE POOL!!" to which I immediately replied, "OK I'm sorry sir, we are getting out, my apologies I wasn't aware of the time" and we IMMEDIATELY started leaving the pool. Despite that, he continued yelling "GET OUT OF THE POOL!!" I am not kidding he yelled at the top of his lungs at least 5x more times. To the point that I responded that we were already getting out and had apologized, and that repeating it was unnecessary. His response was, "Well, you guys don't know how to read the sign, so you clearly need to be told several times." Wow. I completely understand the pool has posted hours and have no issue being asked to leave once I realized it was closed. That part was my mistake. What was disappointing was the way my 11 year old son and I were treated after we immediately complied. There was no reason to repeatedly yell at us or make disrespectful comments. Guests deserve to be treated with courtesy, even when they've made an honest mistake. I hope management addresses how guests are spoken to, because this interaction left a very negative impression. As a suggestion, it might help to automatically turn the pool lights off (if this happened we would have left immediately) and/or disable the gate keypad when the pool closes. We honestly didn't realize the posted hours and those changes would make it much more obvious that the pool was closed while also preventing situations like this. Because of this my family and I will never stay here again. There are plenty of other options just as good or better on Maui. TLDR: The pool closes at 8pm! If in the pool after be prepared to get yelled at by the staff repeatedly with disrespectful comments made to you and your children.
