A less well known local designer along the lines of Anne Namba (http://www.yelp.com/biz/anne-namba-designs-inc-honolulu ), the Yamasaki's have been custom designing kimono inspired clothing and accessories for years. I finally met Patty and she was very nice. Hearing all the stories from my mom and friend's mothers, I was interested to see what kind of stuff she had. Much of her clothing is quite elegant, I guess that's mainly a result of using kimono textiles as your base canvas. It's all very intricate and well made. She does quite a bit of custom work also seeing as she made a beautiful dress for my friend's mother. She sells everything from dresses, tops, jackets, purses, and if she doesn't have it, you can probably have her make one for you. Anyway, you've probably driven past this small boutique and not even known it. It's located right on Koko Head Avenue (close to the corner near Waialae Avenue).
