After many years of studying vocal physiology and using this information in my own singing, as well as that of my students, I have come to believe strongly in the value of learning everything you can about the way your voice works. Although we all have a unique vocal tone, we also have a lot of control over the sounds we make through placement, support, air flow, vowel choice, mouth shape and dynamics. When people ask me if their voice is good enough to sing, I always say a resounding YES! I think singing is for everybody, and I love the process of helping my students find their authentic sound.

He loved all of it and those Monday night lessons were a lifeline for him as his other choirs and school music classes were postponed due to COVID. His confidence grew, and he was accepted into his college's competitive top choir as a freshman (Matthew also helped him with his college admissions' supplementary vocal performance materials and he landed a vocal scholarship). The recitals are great milestones and provide a real sense of community despite the age and experience differences. I'd recommend him to any one at any level.

He is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and always brings such a great vibe to the lessons.
