I've drove past Walden coffee probably a hundred times since I started working in the area, but I finally decided I had to stop in to check it out. From the moment I arrived staff were very friendly and the environment itself was also very welcoming. I ordered the London Frog; their speciality drink as they say, which is their spin on a London fog. It is a tea based drink with orange and espresso, and it was incredible... seriously one of the better coffee drinks I've ever ordered. 100% would order this again. I also got the pastrami sandwich with a side of chips. It was only $9 so I didn't expect too much or anything too fancy. It was a standard sandwich, toasted with a few typical toppings, but it was delicious and did the trick for a yummy lunch. I'll be coming to Walden Coffee again for sure. read more

I've been here quite a few times now and this was my go to cafe for a good matcha however I was quite disappointed this last time as the matcha wasn't as rich as I remembered it being. I'm so glad this is my local coffee shop. There's something really special about a place that not only serves great drinks but also feels like part of the community. They offer a wide variety of treats and beverages, and the care they put into everything shows. Nathan rang us up and was incredibly friendly--he took the time to chat and even recommended a few of his favorite items. We ended up trying their tiramisu special, and it was light, flavorful, and absolutely hit the spot. One of my favorite details? They make their own simple syrups, and you can definitely taste the difference. Nathan also mentioned that many of their baked goods come from local bakers, which I love. This has been me and my bf's spot for Sunday morning coffee for over a year now. We love everything about this place. The baristas are always so nice, the drinks are great, and the handmade sandwiches + caramel roll are an absolute must have. We also love the jalapeño cheddar roll. There is an indoor fireplace and plenty of cozy seating, and in the warmer months they have a big door they open which is really nice. Out for a Sunday walk and on the way back decided to stop for a midday coffee. Walked right in, headed to the counter to look at the menu, and received a warm greeting from a gentleman by the name of Nathan. Very nice and friendly, and really makes you feel welcomed. While exploring the different options on the menu, my eyes immediately noticed the tiramisu cold brew and knew I had to try it. While waiting for our beverages, I was browsing the pastries and such, Nathan shared some of items are made in house and some are from local bakeries. I think that is so amazing. A local business supporting a local business... everyone is winning here. Love it. I was not hungry for any food, but next time I stop in, I'd love to try the jalapeño cheddar roll. This coffee shop is a nice bright stop with lots of natural light. I love how spacious this coffee shop is. Perfect for conversation, reading, crafts, and games. When I walked in, I noticed a book shelf with some games- spotted Sequence game right away (yay!). I also noticed some outdoor seating near the side entrance. There's a parking lot across the street and street parking out front and on the side of the building. My friend lives very near here, so I'm sure I'll be back sometime in the near future. read more

5 stars! One of the nicest things that happened to me (so far) in 2024 was at Carma Coffee on New Year's Day. My cousin was visiting from out-of-town and we grabbed some BBQ a block away at Market BBQ. Afterwards, we were in the mood for some strong coffee so we took off at around 4:00 to hunt for some hot java on January 1st. Slim chance, right? We drove in circles around NE and we couldn't find anything. About half an hour later we found ourselves back to where we started, standing at the front door of Carma Coffee. They HAD been open...but...they closed over 4 hours earlier. Bummer. So near yet so far. We could see 2 guys inside, the owner and some sort contractor working on a project. The owner actually came to the front door, he invited us in, he introduced himself, he made us some coffee, and he tried to give it to us for free. But we paid and I gave him extra money for being such an awesome dude. He was super friendly and he showed us around so I could take some pics for Yelp. Did I mention that they also have other kinds of beverages, pastries, smoothies, and a big selection of sandwiches? I like this place. It almost makes me wish that I still lived in Nordeast Minneapolis. It's great to encounter such a nice, generous, warm person on a snowy, cold, New Year's Day. I love this coffee shop!! Cold brew is my go to and it's always a strong and smooth brew, you don't find that everywhere. My favorite though is their quiche of the day (with the salad side) - I literally go weekly to get this as a little breakfast treat and don't know why it's not talked about more in their reviews! Every flavor I've tried is PHENOMENAL and guests I've shared it with also agree. Many coffee shops around in the neighborhood and this one is my go to whenever I want breakfast food too. I'm obsessed. Originally came here for a takeaway latte and it was so delicious we had to come back to check out the vibe and we were not disappointed. The iced vanilla latte is absolutely delicious. I believe I heard someone saying they make their own syrups. My friends also had the hot and cold mochas and a chai - all delicious. We also shared a caramel roll - OMG, I need all of the rolls all of the time. One of the best I've ever had. Ever. The build your own breakfast sandwich was good, as was the turkey lunch sandwich, spicy breakfast sandwich and the monster cookies (flourless!) - and now I got a cinnamon roll as takeaway to try something new! So on a recent trip to the area with friends this was our "go to" coffee shop each morning of the trip! Here it's a featured summer menu item with a burst of citrus and a more floral-forward espresso that works best for this recipe. I also tried one of their molasses cookies with cream cheese frosting which was an indulgent and nostalgic treat. Came here for some coffee and lunch on a Saturday! They weren't super packed and had a good amount of tables for seating. They have a menu of sandwiches for breakfast and lunch and also lots of baked goods in their display! I went with the quiche of the day which was asparagus and goat cheese and also tried their croque monsieur and roast beef lunch sandwich. I really enjoyed their quiche. The crust was buttery, flaky, and crispy. The filling was really fluffy and tasted great! The croque monsieur was a savory version of a cinnamon roll. They had cheese and ham swirled into the bread and was warm, gooey, and delicious! I liked this the most. I stayed for a few hours and got a jalapeño cheddar roll and a cinnamon roll, get them warmed up! The cinnamon roll was HUGE and the frosting wasn't too sweet (which I liked a lot!) but tasted like a standard cinnamon roll. The jalapeño roll had a bit of a kick with jalapeño sliced and cheese rolled into the bread. I recommend the croque monsieur warmed up! They still had a lot of other baked goods that we didn't get to try yet, so will definitely be back for more! read more

As many times as I've driven by Carma Coffee, I've never stopped in for a visit. Carma Coffee is such a cute and welcoming spot in Northeast Minneapolis. Met a friend for coffee/lunch and easily spent 3 hours there. Went around 12PM on a Friday and most tables were occupied. They had cozy couches and chairs in the back, which we decided to make ourselves at home there. I ordered an iced honey and lavender latte with almond milk, which I thoroughly enjoyed. For food, I asked the staff for a recommendation and they sold me with the mushroom, asparagus, garlic, and Swiss cheese quiche with a side of mixed greens. I wish I could insert free tastes and smells into this review to describe how yummy the quiche was. My friend ordered a roast beef sandwich and a smoothie, which they loved both. Before leaving, I also picked up a few of their pastries to-go and they have a lot of gluten free/vegan options. Don't leave without getting a cinnamon roll or jalapeño & cheddar roll. The parking is street parking only, but more than enough of it so that shouldn't be an issue. I will definitely be back to visit Carma Coffee. read more

I'm going to be honest, I'm not very picky when it comes to coffee shops. I tend to order signature drinks when I go anywhere, because I assume they will BRING IT with their best. They certainly brought it! Very delicious, creamy, and well balanced Lavender Latte. I'm always worried when I order a floral infused beverage that it will taste like I'm drinking an essential oil. This was not the case at all. Sooooo tasty. My partner ordered a Chai Shake and downed it immediately. Super chill staff. Ordered online and picked up during COVID. There are lots of different types of seating where you can work or talk to friends and it feels really airy. I tried their Kabocha squash latte which is seasonal and it was really unique and not super sweet. I also got their pumpkin white chocolate scone which I think complimented the latte really well. Such a fun, funky little place with friendly servers. The decor is inventive. You can get whatever coffee you want and they have a food menu too. My friend and I sat at an outside table. It is on a busy street so every now and then, it's hard to talk. But it's still fun to be outside. They also have a lavender syrup for the coffee, but it had sugar in it and I can only do sugar-free, but that was very intriguing. My friend had a mocha and she likes it very sweet, so she asked for sugar packets and she was offered a sugar syrup. (he would've given her the packets, he just offered this as an option.) He poured some syrup in and then asked her to stir it and asked if she needed more. She said it was perfect. I first visited Carma after asking coworkers where they recommend getting coffee when I started at my new job two years ago. Now it's my go-to for a quick, delicious cup of energy (aka coffee). I would 100% rather spend money on a small business versus a chain anyways - plus Carma is significantly better than most coffee places! They also have options for not only drinks but food to cater to those with dietary restrictions. The staff are always so friendly and kind as well. They have space to sit, work, read, whatever you choose as well. Although no parking lot, I've never had a problem parking on the streets nearby for free. I came here in search of their lavender drinks because I've heard from a friend and a fellow Yelper that their lavender coffee is one of the best! Carma surely did not disappoint! Their Lavender Cold Brew Latte was heavenly! The lavender syrup they used was so fresh and fragrant that I want it in everything I drink! One downside is that it does come with a more than ideal price tag. I ordered a large and after tip, it was over $6! Carma Coffee also offers tea, smoothies, bakery items, salads, sandwiches.
