Horrible! Horrible service and lack of employees to meet customers needs. Their pharmacy is simply closed on the weekends. Not sure how a national chain can screw up so badly by not staffing one of the busiest areas of MA. I feel sorry for the employees who work here. Turn over is very high. read more

Never had I been treated so rudely or badly by any person or establishment until i encountered this place. They hung up on me out of the blue and for no good reason at least 10 times, a few times before I could even say a word. Not sure how they stay in business. I did an online order for cold meds for my kid who is attending college in Massachusetts. My daughter is sick and an item or two I purchased required an I.D. Check but the order arrived so early that she didn't hear them and missed the delivery. I was going to reorder but decided to first check with the store to see whether the order could be re-delivered (for an additional fee) or if it had already been canceled. And this is where my ordeal with the employees in this store began. After a significant wait on the phone, a heavily accented woman answered and I told her I had placed an online order. She immediately told me 'we dont do online order, come pickup". And then she hung up on me. I called back and after another extensive wait got the same person and she said pick it up, to which I said I cant because I'm in California. She immediately hung up on me again. I called back several more times and when I asked for a manager or to speak to someone else, she hung up on me right away. I called back again and thankfully, a young man answered who spoke English. I told him that I wanted to know the status of my order and to speak to a manager and after a little wait, he got someone else to assist me. Another lady with an accent, not as strong as the first lady's, asked for the information and went to check. She came back and I could hear her tell the young man that she didn't see the order. I asked him if I could speak to her again because I wanted to tell her about the woman who had hung on me so many times. He said, why don't you call back in 30 minutes. I paused to get ready to ask her name and the young man hung up on me. I called back and the young man answered and I asked him why he had hung up on me. He said, because I told you to call back in 30 minutes. I asked for the manager's name and he said Joann. Another lady, without an accent, got on the phone and I asked if she was Joann and she said that Joanne doesn't work on Saturdays or Sundays so call back during the week. I said never mind, I will just do a review or call corporate. I placed another online order and it said it would be delivered by 4pm, which was 1.5 hours away. I texted my daughter and she was going to be on the lookout. When 4pm came and went, I googled and found how to check the status online. It said CANCELLED. I called my daughter and asked if she had received a cancellation notice. She said no, she had just received a notice that they were working on the order and would email with any updates, changes or notifications. She had received nothing else. Very shady. I called the store and after considerable wait again, got the young man. He told me the order was canceled because maybe they didn't have it. I asked if he could tell me was what was unavailable because the site showed what stuff was in stock and so I could choose something else. He said, "We cant do that". Do what? I asked do what? He hung up on me. When you order online, you can tell the system to substitute for same brand different amount, or similar item. I enabled all of the substitutions. The online system also said that there could be changes in the final amount if items were unavailable or substitutions were made. This store, however, canceled the entire order, probably out of incompetence or maybe just plain spite. No compassion there for a sick kid far from home with no transportation who just needed some medicine. I found another place to do what this Walgreens couldn't, or wouldn't do. Not only that, but despite that I was never rude to them, they canceled my daughter's order for meds for some unknown reason. I have never dealt with such incompetent and rude people before. All in all, they hung up on me nearly 10 times. Walgreens does not have as much of a presence in my state as they do back east, and if this is the type of staff they hire, it is no wonder. I will stick to CVS or Rite Aid and I suggest that others do the same or at least choose another Walgreens with intelligent and kind, or at least courteous, staff. If you are a manager or owner of this location, test it out for yourself. Have a friend visit or even better, call the store for assistance and see what kind of service they get. read more

I've come here many times in my 12 years living in Central Square. Pharmacy and pharmacists have always been great, in my experience. For everything else, you're better off going to CVS across the street. Store is always understaffed and usually only one register is open. Not sure why Walgreens has not embraced self-checkout. read more

Turns out this Walgreen's does not participate in the FedEx QR code shipping label program (where you bring a package to return to a participating online retailer, scan a QR code and they print out a Fedex label to ship it with), though they are listed on the Fedex site as participating. The staff at this store said "it is too much of a hassle to print out shipping labels". read more

This is a very good sized Walgreens. They have some beauty brands available that are not to be found in other locations and the store is always well stocked and neat. The employees here seem very nice and get you cashed out quickly. They seemed to be revamping their beauty aisle and I bet it will look great once it's all finished. This place sucks. Currently there is a fire alarm that is going off and nobody is doing anything about it. I was told my prescription would be ready by 4:15pm today. It is now 6:50pm and I have to wait another 20 mins. The last time I was here there was a line of people all waiting with the same problem. They also had lost some poor woman's medicine. This is the last time I'm coming here. The staff was very nice though and I do feel bad for them. They just need to change management. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. They won't call you as promised when your prescription is filled. If you need a prescription transferred, you have to remind them several times. They can also be rude if you have an out of state insurance, which is pretty likely considering the high student population here. read more

I would give this place 0 stars. Consistently messing up my prescriptions and refilling the ones I never asked to be refilled Then giving me the wrong version of a medication. Calls me saying my script is ready to be picked up, then when I show up nothing is ready! I plan on reporting this pharmacy for severe neglect. Beware. read more

Sketchy but better than the CVS opposite in my opinion. There is a lot in this Walgreens and it has a lot of room, good lighting and a high ceiling unlike the claustrophobic CVS opposite. Also the pharmacists at the rear were a lot more helpful and quicker than those at CVS with my emergency prescription. CVS is carpeted (not sure if that's a good thing) and is open 24 hours but Walgreens beats that by having the ratty-looking guy in the waistcoat behind the counter. He's obviously a true veteran when it comes to dealing with all the crazies. read more

This review is for the pharmacy only. The rest of the Walgreen's is what you'd find in a standard drug store and I would find it hard to find a complaint about their well-stocked shelves and all-around clean store. Pharmacy people - this means the pharmacists *and* the people filling or dropping of prescriptions - what on earth is wrong with you? I have no idea how I managed to wait over an hour just to pick up a prescription on a Friday night (is there really nothing to do in Central Square on Friday nights?!) but that is indeed what happened. The reason for this was mostly due to a lack of line management. I know that sounds especially Seinfeldian, so let me better explain. You have a long line of customers waiting. Makes sense. If you only have one pharmacist behind the counter who is actually working (whereas in my case there were three, but two were just sitting and chatting), then that pharmacist should at the very least know how to move the line along. One customer decided that she wanted a price check for Walgreen's version of Febreeze. Instead of going to the various price checking machines conveniently located throughout the store, or going up front to the cashiers, she chose to bother the pharmacist. Instead of the pharmacist directing her elsewhere, she spent over 15 minutes with the customer discussing it. And so on and so on. What the pharmacists and managers also have to understand is that various people waiting in line for their prescriptions are at the time, currently sick. So if you have a long line of people coughing on one another, for instance, it's not a pretty sight. It's unfortunate that something has gone awry with this process because as stated above, this particular Walgreen's location is otherwise a really great drug store. My various experiences with the sub-par pharmacy over the past few months alone have been awful, but I'd gladly update this review in the future if that situation does resolve itself. I will continue to go to this location due to convenience and the strong hope that people learn from their mistakes and things can only get better......... read more

It's like CVS, but cleaner and pisses you off a lot less. I go here to buy the most random things and they ALWAYS have it. My housemates and I have come to believe that no matter what we're looking for, Walgreen's will have it. Including a Hibachi. (and Kingsford Coalllllllllsss!!!) It has everything Wal-Mart does, but for twice the price and half the selection. They also have really fantastic deals occasionally, like on smartwater and generic mixed nuts. One of the cashiers begs for change during smoke-breaks. (+1*) read more

I had a major medical surgery and needed this one item to get through one last part of healing. I called multiple stores which didn't help me at all. Finally through much literal pain this store had it in stock. They held it for the person that was coming to get it, seeing as I couldn't walk. I literally almost cried and this is after days in the hospital and surgery. Very pleased with this store. read more

This review is specifically for the photo department, but, based on my few visits, applies to the rest of the store as well. I had the best experience getting passport photos from this Walgreen's. The staff person, Gilbert, was extremely friendly and prompt, and I was in and out in 10 minutes with what I needed. He made sure that I was meeting all the requirements of the photo (ears exposed, no smiling, no jewelry, etc), and offered to take a second picture in case I didn't like the way the first turned out. There were several other people also coming through the photo department, and he was able to take care of them quickly while I waited for my photos to print. I can't say enough good things about how quick and caring his service was! Central Square is, I'm sure, a tough spot to be working, especially given the immense foot traffic. My hat is totally off to the photo staff for being so professional. Also, this Walgreen's is very large and well-lit (quite a step up, in my opinion, from the store across the street). I've never had trouble finding what I need at this location, and I was very appreciative of my experience. read more

For the love of all that is holy... PLEASE stop telling me about the two-for-one candy bar special EVERY SINGLE DAY I am in Walgreens. This guy behind the counter, although slow as molasses, is quite friendly, but I'm just getting a pack of cigarettes, and I'm in no need of two candy bars. Every time I've been in this Walgreens (about every other day for the past couple months), I've had to wait for nearly 10 minutes at the registers, which are usually staffed with only one person. Frustrating, but in this economy it seems most drug stores are understaffed anyway. Just an average experience. read more

standard drug store... but there is always a line. The register jockey's are slow, the shoppers are slow, and one door/ revolving door at the front of the shop makes me think its there to prevent people from stealing. It's convenient for me to hop in and grab something and I always think that when I walk by... then I enter, and there is a line usually 3 deep. Today when a back up person came to help, some lady line hopped and just walked right up to her. It was kind of rude, no one said anything, she wanted it more ... so she got it. There were a few times i've been in there where they have had someone at the cosmetic counter, or the photo counter to help with the line. but its just a weird layout. I prefer the CVS across the street, it's crowded but they have the self check out which usually one is free. (or there is al one for them and no one is at the clerk). But hey with a cvs and walgreens across the street from each other, it's good to have options! read more

I live a block away, and always want to go in this place... One star for being cleaner than CVS across the street... but so many more people go to that CVS that it's kind of hard to fault them for being dingy. I've gone in this walgreens dressed in a suit and the security guard still looked at me like I was shady, so don't take it personally... but if there's more than 4 people in line, just turn around and walk out the door. You'll be in line for a a bare minimum of 5 minutes, which just doesn't work for a place in a fast-paced urban neighborhood. You're better off fighting your way through the spangers to get to the junky old CVS across the street. It's a little nasty but you'll save yourself 5 minutes. read more

Today on March 4,. 2020 I had an Awesome 5 Star Experience here. I wanted to get pictures developed from my Android phone and the nice young man who helped me walked me through the whole process twice because I wasn't paying attention and jiggled the connection on the plug to the photo machine. So he helped me twice and was nice about it too. He probably had a million other things to do but he was very patient with me. Really a nice person. Walgreens you have great people at this location. . Not every Walgreens is great but this Walgreens is.Really come here to shop. read more

An elderly woman in front of me who took a long trip to get there was told to return the next day if she wantedsome other form or packaged that would enable her to read them. Usually the lines in this place take forever. One of the staff members is very friendly and nice, besides that I would say most of the people who work there are below average when it comes to customer service. Today was the most bizarre experience with an employee, and I left feeling like the woman at the front register had some sort of prejudice against me. I waited in a 8-10 person line at this Walgreens behind a screaming baby, and when I made it to the front, the cashier told me to go to the cash register near the makeup aisle instead. Even though there was a long line at that register (and I had just made it to the front of this line), I obliged and walked over to the other one, assuming that the woman was closing her register or going on break or something. She then proceeded to serve the person right behind me, and four other people while I was waiting in the stagnant, other line. Finally the front cleared up, but I was still waiting, so I went to check out with the coworker next to her. Why did this woman refuse to check me out?! I found this to be extremely inconsiderate of my time and extremely bizarre. read more

If you can snag the cashier at the beauty counter you can virtually cut the line at the front. they've got the goods you need, if you can avoid tripping over the drunks who hang in the vicinity, you'll be out in a short time, unlike some other drug stores where the line seems to go on an on an on. read more

The cashiers are generally nice, but it's hard to find someone when you get to the photo counter and the pharmacy is really slow. The last time, (I do mean LAST) I went to pick up the prescription, no one came to greet me. In fact the woman was standing in the back playing on her phone and didn't come to the counter until a pharmacist asked, "What are you doing?" and then she was just kind of genuinely disinterested in me, as a customer, and basically performed her job to the minimum possible requirements. Despite my loyalty to Walgreen franchises, I won't be fulfilling prescriptions at this location. Where is the management? read more

I'm not sure where the hate is coming from on some of these reviews... it seems no more or less dingy, dirty, or otherwise cleanliness-challenged than most drug stores, especially in an urban environment like Central Square. It is far larger and nicer than the low-ceilinged CVS across the street, and there are no panhandlers hassling you on the way in and out (unlike the CVS). The selection is quite good, and the prices, while a tad higher than normal, reflect the high cost of the Cambridge location, and the standard markup that one pays for buying at a drug store rather than a supermarket. I have been there when there is zero line, and I have been there when there is a line 10 people deep; they seem to swiftly add registers to clear the line, and the cashiers do a decent job of keeping things moving. This Walgreens is satisfactory, and superior to its mega-chain rival across the road. read more

Convenient location and extensive inventory. Could be cleaner and often seems to have long lines, but they are pretty good about getting extra staff when that happens. The best thing about the store is their photo department. I've had everything done there, from regular prints to photo collages (the online app helps you put stuff together really easily) to passport photos. I love that I can upload my digital photo files to the store's website from home and get printouts the same day - so convenient! I also have to echo the previous reviewers who singled Gilbert out for a positive review; he's been working at this store for the past year or so and often is in the photo department - he is extremely knowledgeable and professional (by far the best among the employees I've interacted there), and will go out of his way to help you find what you need. I would give him 5 stars and the store 3 if that were an option! read more

5 stars!!!- I was traveling and staying nearby for a few days. I came to Walgreens to look for a few supplies the place I was staying at didn't have. Gilbert, an employee there, helped me find everything I needed and even gave me great suggestions for things to do during my trip. He was extremely helpful and had the most adorable smile. Overall the store was clean, well stocked, had lots of variety and I was checked out quickly. read more

I don't recommend this place for getting you VSH converted to DVD. In my case, I trusted them with the VHS and they said they would have it converted and done within a month. And now it has been 3 month since they have not returned it back. I went back and asked them what happened and they said they have misplaced and lost my VHS. This is irresponsible. You can't just loose someone's property like that and say you can't do anything about it. This was a waste of time. read more

Why is nothing ever priced right at this Walgreen's? The last 3 times I've purchased something here, I get it to the counter and it's $2-$3 more than the price shown below the item on the shelf. I finally pointed this out last time I was there, and the clerk told me I should read the barcode and match to the appropriate sticker. Please, is that really necessary? The clerk himself walked over with me and searching two aisles, couldn't locate the price that came up at the register.
