I mention this because Meghan was incredible during our rescheduled communications and recommending Helen for the new time and based on what I wanted. So, I went in to meet Helen today. Helen listened to (and looked at) what I wanted to achieve and told me what would be needed to get there. She was detailed, confident, and so knowledgable -- I could not have felt I was in better hands. I knew even as she started I'd finally land where I wanted with my color. I'm thrilled with my hair and also that I finally found somewhere and someone I'd like to go back to! Finally, Meghan, Helen, and team have created a beautiful environment. I emailed the salon to get an explanation, and this is what I received back: HI Leslie, It's confusing to hear that you are bothered by the price of your services today. The pricing is based on services rendered and very straightforward. We would never charge extra if you were sitting "longer than necessary" and I would also be curious what you are basing timing on. We don't typically give a step by step quote... we use our professional judgement on what your hair needs to look its best. So after approximately 14 visits (of around $200 per visit) I made a fatal mistake. I screwed up my calendar and missed my appointment. Kerry called and left me a message. I called right back. I called back 2 more times. Due to the timing it's also my birthday. I found out my MIL called and left FIVE messages (trying to buy me a gift certificate.) KERRY NEVER CALLED BACK ONCE. I drove to the shop to see if it was open and she was ok! Yep, she's just ignoring me. She ghosted me because I made 1 mistake in 3 years. Her voicemail message to me was, "You're never late and it's 10 minutes past your appointment time ..." So guess what I now know: 1) one strike, you're out is her unwritten/unspoken policy 2) she won't even give a courtesy call to explain her unwritten policy (there is nothing on her website and no sign in her shop) One bone of contention I've had: - when I first started going to Moxie I got reminder calls - they just stopped and on at least 2 occasions I called the shop to see if my appointment was still scheduled - in today's digital / social age I get reminders from EVERYONE I deal with (doctor, dentist, Pilates, massage, etc.) Kerry: IF YOU'RE GOING TO BE INTOLERANT OF SCHEDULING MISTAKES then put your money where your mouth is and use a reminder system -- I'd have never missed my appointment if I'd received a reminder. And, while I found out the hard way / now have 14 weeks of roots, I'm happy to now see Kerry's character. I have no interest in giving my business to someone who is intolerant and uncooperative.

I had been a loyal, long-time customer and put plenty of money into this business over the years. Apparently, that loyalty means absolutely nothing to the owner, Pat. Right before I was leaving for a work trip, one of the stylists made a mistake with my hair. I was traveling the very next day, so I called Pat hoping she might show even the slightest concern and find a way to squeeze me in for a quick emergency touch-up. Instead of trying to help fix a mistake made by HER salon, Pat somehow managed to turn the situation around on me and accuse ME--the paying customer--of being disrespectful. There was no meaningful attempt to find a solution, no concern that I was leaving for a work trip the following day, and seemingly zero appreciation for the fact that I had supported her business for YEARS. The conversation ultimately ended with Pat hanging up on me. That tells you everything you need to know about how this business treats customers when something actually goes wrong. It's easy to take someone's money when everything is going smoothly. The true measure of a business is how it responds when it makes a mistake. In my experience, Pat's response was to become defensive, blame the customer, offer no meaningful solution, and hang up the phone. After years of giving this salon my business, I discovered exactly how little my loyalty was worth to them. If this is how a long-time customer is treated over a problem the salon itself created, imagine how you'll be treated when you have an issue. There are plenty of salons that actually value their customers and understand what customer service means. Spend your money at one of them. I certainly wish I had.
