I had trouble locating an item in the store and I asked for assistance at the photo department Dedu/Deda (not sure of the spelling but the guy with the African accent) did his best to avoid helping me. Was reluctant to even acknowledge I was asking for help. I also asked if I could take my son to the restroom and he looked me up and down (in an extremely perverted manner) and said no as he watched my son squirm in agony. He smiles and tells me that the bathroom closed at 4pm. Like he got some type of perverse pleasure of of being as impolite, creepy and unprofessional as possible. I don't recommend this store and will never shop with them again! I advise you to do the same. read more

Anytime I come here to pick up photos there is literally no one in the photo department. Ever. I'll ask the people at the front desk and they look confused. Then they make an announcement on the PA asking for help in the photo department. Maybe 10 or 15 minutes later someone will come wandering in from an unknown area in the store to help you with your photos. Then for some reason they can never find the photos. read more

I went to pick up a prescription that I had been told was filled and I paid for it and had a Fast Pass. I was there close to a half hour! I couldn't even get the Express Window because there were so many people. When I did get helped, the pharmacist obviously could not find my prescription (she looked in numerous places) and then I saw her filling it. Then there was no register open so I had to wait another 5-10 minutes! I got there at 11:30 and didn't leave until 12:00. And you should have seen the length of the line!! There must have been 6-8 employees and they all seemed to be looking and looking for prescriptions! read more

When we drive by this store, my 4 year old daughter says, "That's the store we're mad at." Yep, I'm mad at them. And though they are the most convenient drug store for me and I've been using them for years, I will not use them again. They are fine for refills. They have a nice automated phone system to request your refills, stating the date and time you will pick them up. However, if your doctor is calling in a scrip for you, I wish you luck. The past several times the doctor has called in a prescription, it has not been ready several hours later. So I asked the doctor to request it be ready by 4:00 (she made the call at 1:00). Still no dice. The last time, they told me when I arrived it would be ready in 15-20 minutes. Alright, it will be a challenge to keep my two little ones entertained and out of trouble for that long, but I believe I can do it. After 20 minutes, I checked back at five minute intervals and it was not ready until 45 minutes later. Forty five minutes is a looong time when you're trying to keep a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old from pulling fascinating things from the shelves. Heck, I would have taken them out for a smoothie if they had told me 45 minutes to start. Or I would have come back the next day. Or something. I still would have been mad at the pharmacy, though. Seriously, three hours is a reasonable lead time. This is a pattern, not a single occurrence. And our doctor confirmed that she has heard similar complaints about them before. read more

I think this is the only Walgreens in Castro Valley.. if not, I should really go elsewhere! The customer service here is crappy. I came here to develop a couple of photos. I forgot what kind of memory stick I have but apparently, I needed a converter or whatnot. Well, prior to realizing that, I stuck my memory stick in the slot that looked like it would fit. WRONG. It was in there, but it was loosely hanging and of course, the machine didn't read it. I tried sticking something in to get it out and the woman goes, "don't stick that in there" in a pretty nasty tone. She used an instrument that removed it and asked me if I had a converter. Well, obviously not because I would have used it. She lent me hers (or in this case, Walgreens) and said, "you need to give it back." DAMN, my bad. Sure, it's my fault for not knowing but she really didn't have to be nasty about it. REALLY?? NEVER AGAIN. I should do my photo printing at Costco where I usually get it done. read more

Pharmacy: understaffed, prescriptions take forever, when you call in they put you on hold forever and when they finally answer, they "accidentally" hang up on you, not giving a damn how sick you are or how badly you need your meds... Reveiwing pharmacies seems kind of silly, but I'd say that this is probably the worst pharmacy I've been to. I've tried for a month to transfer my Rx from San Ramon CVS to here and they still haven't done it (when I initially transferred to San Ramon, it took CVS 6 hours or less). I've been overcharged for prescriptions here constantly. And currently, they are remodeling right next to the pharmacy window, so you have to yell what you need to be heard. However, everyone who works in the pharmacy is always nice enough to try to help get me what I need each time I show up and find that they are still missing my Rx. Too bad they can't instead just transfer it. read more

i'm on my 3rd try in 2 days to pick up Paxlovid for my husband. The Hospital ER called it in yesterday. The 1st visit, they said come back for the 4 called in prescriptions, since it was only called in 45mins ago. The 2nd visit, after getting a text saying it was ready for pickup ...the pure rude & cold woman gave us 2 of the 4 saying if we want the other 2 (incl the Paxlovid) we have to come back after 7pm because there was only record of 2 med prescriptions. What? Then we tried to get the over the counter covid tests that are 100% covered by insurance. She attempted to say we need to come back for them since it was a new request or just pay full price and handle insurance reimbursement ourselves. What? ... over night my husbands covid got worse with temp raising to 102.1. I tried again on day 2 & was just told only 1 of the 2 is ready now. One star because the 1 ready is Paxlovid - finally. But each time the line wait didn't move for 30mins & the 1 woman did all she could not to have to do her job, so it should be no stars. read more

I often come here for "Movie-style Candy", you know the big boxes of candy you see in the movie theater? They're overpriced in the theater so sometimes you can score some candy here for $1/box. or $3/3boxes. I also come here for Easter candy and supplies and Christmas candy for Stocking Stuffers. On occasion, I might pick up an As Seen On TV Product. This place also carried last Christmas that "Leg Lamp" from the movie "A Christmas Story". Sold out of those pretty fast. Unfortunately it wasn't "to scale". Staff is generally nice, and remember if you see a long line at the main three registers, the Makeup/Fragrance counter and the Photo Dept counter are often available to ring up your purchases. They have a pharmacy, and due to the recent renovations...they now have a drive-thru window for the pharmacy. Of course, if you want a consultation with a pharmacist you need to park and go inside. Tip: If you need the pharmacy for prescription meds, use the online system to order them and also to remind you when they're ready to be renewed, and that will speed up the process some, making for a more streamlined and smoother experience. "strip mall" parking. Can get quite busy at times, especially around rush hour and early evening, and weekends. No WiFi. For Free WiFi, walk to Starbucks, or Aran's Art Studio. YogaFina MIGHT have WiFi as well...I don't remember. read more

I agree with many here, the customer service is TERRIBLE here. As for the photo department, the woman in charge of this department is THE worse. Many of my friends and family members concur. She is extremely rude and unapologetic about it. Her knowledge, or lack there of, regarding photography and digital processing is seriously lacking, as well. There had been a woman that worked that department for a few years (whom I'm told no longer works there) who was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The only time I would leave my photos there for processing was when I knew she would be working that shift. She was also the ONLY person I ever saw working in this store that seemed to actually be "working". Never had I seen anyone work so hard and hustle as she. My friends and family have all stopped bringing our film and print orders to this location since this woman no longer works there. They need to hire more people like her since the quality of customer service there has dramatically dropped since. I give them "one" star, only because I can not select zero. read more

I've shopped here forever and my experiences are 50/50 in satisfaction. Love some of the seasonal do-dads. Do not like getting to the register and seeing that a sale item rings up full price. I always take the blame and go re-check the UPC code, etc. Frosts my cornflakes to take it up to the register AGAIN and it still rings up at the regular price. Only on the rarest occasions has a manager come to check it out....other times I wait and wait...and nothing...or I get fed-up and leave. Used to love the photo department but that was before I could send my prints online and pick-up at the store. The biggest problem are the "photo nazis" that question whether or not I took the picture, or if I'm ripping off a professional photographer. I've been asked to provide photographer releases ON PICTURES I TOOK MYSELF. Sorry that you can't see that my cheap-ass Nikon Coolpix can actually take some really frickin' good pictures. Although I have never been denied a print, after some discussion, I really hate having to give someone a detailed description of how-when-where I took a photo before they act they are doing me some GIGANTIC favor of letting me have my 34 cent snapshot of my kid acting like a monkey in a tree. Prefer Walmart. They don't give a crap about your pictures, and I don't think I've ever had anything ring up for more than the advertised price. read more

I give them a 3 based on me and my family have gotten flu shots at this location with ease, quickness and no problem. I can't really speak on filling prescriptions at this location, but sad to say it sounds like their just like 159th ave Walgreens and 24 hour Walgreens on Washington Ave both in San Leandro, they put back prescriptions say you picked them up then try and re bill insurance when you come in asking where your prescription at they told me you already picked it up when I didn't and yes they have more customers than they can handle also, they always have new people who don't know what their doing. I figure the turn around in employees must be high because they don't pay enough or people just don't want to work. I'm thinking of moving my business elsewhere, but will it really be better? read more

I need to catch a flight and can't wait for her to get back. Walgreens is saying it's California state law to take a one hour lunch. This guy was being so rude and they asked me for my address 4 times! This really bothered me consisting I'm in pain. If one person confirms the address every me ever of the staff doesn't have to ask the same question as a form of protocol. It's redundant! The guy who supposedly helped me was behind a sun proof window so he felt it was okay to be rude. It's not my fault you don't like your job and you're stuck at work on this beautiful day. So why be mean and rude towards me. I'm really in a lot of pain and so I called and checked if my rx was ready ahead of time. It was and so when I went through the drive through no one was there in line so why couldn't he just give me my prescription with a professional attitude. If I was feeling better I would've went into the store and complained to the manager but I briefly spoke with the pharmacist about this person. I believe his name was Jamal! After long drive and a super long line, I asked to use the restroom and was told by employee on the floor tha it was "Out of Order" then asked employee at register who said "no, it closes at 6pm" REALLY???? It is Supposed to be OPEN DURING BUSINESS HOURS!! Had to walk all the way over to Starbucks to use Restroom and then line was even longer when I got back. So for a Rx that was supposed to be ready at 5:15pm, I am still standing in line now at 7pm and it's still NOT READY!! Won't come here again. Okay, so I'm a 22 year old female and I called ahead to a LOVELY gentlemen named Blas, I was wondering if my GoodRX coupon would work even though the pharmacy was closed...he was trying extremely hard to find a way for me to get a good deal for my personal item (plan b). I was already EXTREMELY uncomfortable, but he made me feel non judged and welcomed either way. So he called over who I believe was a manger named CELISA (or something like that) see if she could help me access my coupon. She pretty much glanced at the situation and put ZERO effort into helping them AT ALL. As someone who is at the top of her game in retail....I always do my ABSOLUTE BEST to do whatever I can for the customer. She gave nasty looks to me as she told me to move over so they can help another customer.....I'm more than unsatisfied with her service. As I tried on my own to get matters handled...she stood around just looking at me. I was then helped by a THIRD person who wasn't very helpful either. I told him exactly how I needed my transaction to go down and he kept insisting his way was more sufficient and faster. He did it his way and then looked confused when the transaction didn't turn out right. I then repeated myself, telling him how I would like to pay and had to wait for another customer to get helped before he could re-ring me. Walgreens night staff. Do better. Point-blank-period. Store management here is weak and unengaged with what is needed in the store. He is a 9-5 kind of guy and could care less about what makes a customer satisfied. We have gone there numerous times for various items, including milk and half & half. They are always out of half & half. We spoke to him today about why they do not order more. He simply said he won't order more. So, we and many others are wasting their time going to this Walgreens. The one on Foothill and Grove is much better. CVS is much better on CV Blvd. Not sure why we went this this one today, but it will be our last time. There are too man y other choices to put up with the stupidity of this store's management. Always awful. Understaffed, unorganized, always a long line and no one at the register. Today was my last attempt. Will try CVS from now on if I need anything. Made an appointment for a vaccine, showed up on time and had to wait 30 minutes for them (ALL of the people working in the pharmacy, at least four people) to return from lunch. They all went at the same time, apparently...totally normal for a retail store. Didn't have our appointment on their list (who knows why), but I had a confirmation so the kid (who actually was nice, not completely his fault the store is an effing mess) said it was okay. Took my husband's ID and insurance card and made us wait longer, then came out to tell us that they didn't HAVE the vaccine for which we had made the appointment ('oops sorry, unfortunately it's out of stock at this location'). Then...WHY...were we able to make the freakin appointment??! He then told us we could just go to another Walgreens and 'they should take us without a problem, if they have it.' Ummm no thank you sir, already wasted an hour of our lives at THIS location for nothing. Save yourself the trouble and make an appointment with your medical provider if you need an immunization...sounds counter-intuitive, I know, but it will likely actually save you time and frustration. read more

This review is specifically for RHODA the pharmacy tech. and the pharmacist who was busily working around her. I went in to the E.R. this morning after my G.I. issues had reached their limit. Shortly after my hospital visit I went into the nearest Walgreens to retrieve my prescription meds. I was in pain, nauseated, and exhausted from my ordeal and so I quietly handed RHODA my prescription. Right away RHODA recommended a generic antacid with the SAME active ingredient as the antacid that my physician recommended. SOLD! OK RHODA, now your speaking my language. When my prescription was filled (it was about a 45min wait, no problem because these girls were hauling ass trying to fill prescriptions for all of CV), she inquired about my insurance. I told her I had medi-cal, and basically had nothing else to give her other than an old state medical benefit card.. here is where the magic happens.. Rhoda took the time to call the insurance and see if I can have the fee waived for my meds. She even asked if I had AAA insurance because they sometimes offer discounts. RHODA was looking left and right to get me my medication. In the end my meds were FREE!!! Now, RHODA COULD have quickly rang me up and sent me on my way, but she didn't. She showed expertise, and compassion and did all she could to help me. Up until this week I had been laid off for 4 months (I'm an agricultural/seasonal worker), and had very little to spare for unexpected medical expenses... again, she didn't have to but she did and I just wanted to let everyone know how great Rhoda and the pharmacy staff were to me today.
