Terrible drive thru service! I think the many many many times I've tried going through the drive thru(with a sick child, rainy day, in a hurry, or not wanting to lug your whole army inside just to pick up ONE prescription) it's a LONG wait. I think I've finally figured it out- the priority goes to the customers that are inside waiting to pick up or drop off a prescription. I think the customer's (in the drive thru) time is also valuable. Maybe, maybe the should just have a technician work the window? I've been a customer picking up as well and I've noticed how long the customers wait in the drive thru line. It's quite a wait. At this point, I guess you just have to suck it up and either wait 20-45mins in the drive thru line OR lug your whole army inside and wait in line? read more

Worst phone system ever for the pharmacy. Don't even bother to call because you will be on hold for over 1.5 hrs and still waiting.

This is my Walgreens! The pharmacy has always filled my prescriptions promptly and correctly. I'm alerted by text, email and phone when order is ready. I find this very helpful. Inside Lines and drive up can be long waits at times but I think it's unprepared customers. I've always experienced courteous staff. The store itself is always stocked and I find what's needed. I'm happy to have them in my town. Thank You Walgreens staff. I know it must be a challenging job handling the variety and volume of folks that flow thru your store. read more

Terrible pharmacy. I wish I can give zero stars. This pharmacy is understaffed and is always late refilling orders. I've tried calling a couple of times, on hold for 1.5+ HOURS and they picked up and hung right up. They won't staff the drive through so you have to go inside and stand in line with sick folks.. the line wraps around and down isles (be prepared to wait for 30+ mins.) Never had an experience here where I didn't have to go inside to get the ball rolling. read more

I don't know why this location has such poor reviews! I suspect it's because people don't often think to review their local Walgreens when things go as planned (I certainly never did) but have plenty to say if they have a bad experience. Today, I actually ended up stopping at this Walgreens THREE TIMES. I went this morning to pick up some hair dye and was happy to find they had the exact brand and shade I was looking for in their well-stocked and organized hair care aisle. There was only one person in front of me at the line, but even so, the cashier at the register apologized for the wait and thanked me for waiting. Good service! My next trip was later this afternoon when I decided I wanted to buy some Essie nail polish. I bought a bottle of base coat, two bottles of color polish, and a bottle of top coat. This time, there was no one at the register, so it was a quick and painless checkout. My final trip came a few hours later, when I realized that I had actually accidentally bought white nail polish instead of clear base coat. (The Essie gel polish top coat comes in an opaque white bottle, and I hadn't realized I picked up the wrong bottle.) I explained my situation to the cashier with my receipt and she said it would be no problem to return. I ended up exchanging the bottle of white polish for the bottle of clear top coat I originally intended to buy and didn't even have to swipe my credit card since they were the same price. It's not every day you have to go to Walgreens 3 times in one day, but this location made my experience as smooth and convenient as possible. This Walgreens has everything! read more

A 15 minute errand turned into a 45 minute ordeal due to the incredible mis-management of the store. The pharmacy would should open at nine didn't roll up the windows until 920 and when they finally did it the heavyset pharmacy assistant still thought it was a good time to have a personal conversation on her cell phone watch instead of helping customers in an efficient way. Then she proceeded to have attitude when I asked her a simple question. I then I had some reward points and decided I would want to purchase some other items I went to the register the lady there didn't know how to use the coupons and then the register didn't have change. When the manager returned with change I asked her for 30 seconds of her time so I could express my experience in the store and instead of listening she simply walked away. I go to this Walgreens pharmacy because it is closest to my home. The pharmacy service has taken a nose dive in the last few years. Every time I am there, a new inexperienced person is at the counter waiting on customers. Instead of saying that they don't know why prescriptions aren't ready they are quick to say it is the doctors office and I should call my physician to make sure my prescription is sent for refill. This is constantly happening now and more recently, the girl at the counter told me they were out of my diabetes medication when I could clearly see it in the refrigerator. When I questioned her, she told me the pharmacist told her it was not my prescription. I found that to be an outright lie because she stood in front of me the whole transaction not once talking to the pharmacist. I will be taking my business and my dollars elsewhere. read more

My son's medication has been on back order at our regular pharmacy, so I had to hunt down the medication at other pharmacies. I called Walgreens and had to wait on hold for probably 20 minutes. Once the employee got on the phone though, they were super polite and helpful. They checked to see if they had his medication and how many we needed for a month supply. I called his doctor and had the prescription sent over. They called me as soon as they got the prescription, but said I need to come in with his insurance information before they could fill it. No problem! Headed down there and waited a bit. They had one pharmacy tech working both the walkup and drive thru window when I arrived and he was doing his best to get everyone taken care of. It was finally my turn and I handed him our insurance, he got it all input and said I was all set. I told him to just let me know when it would be ready and I would come back. He had finally gotten some help for the drive thru, but there were still quite a few people waiting. He told me to hang on a minute, and I figured he was checking with the pharmacist for pick up time. Nope, he went and got the medication and gave the script and everything to the pharmacist and they filled it right then and he brought it over to me. Yay for not having to make a second trip! The people inside were very nice. We didn't know that we needed an insurance card for our vaccine but they helped us find it online. They also have walk in vaccine shot. The inside is slightly dirty and the wait time was slightly longer than expected. The person inside administered it quickly and efficiently. read more

If the pharmacy doesn't have what they need to fill your prescription, they don't tell you, and then they just never fill it. You'd think that the first thing they would do is let you know that they can't fill your prescription at the moment. That would be the responsible thing to do. Or at the very least, they would by default fill it as soon as they're able to, right? But, no, even if you ask, that's not an option. They just don't do either of those things. They also will not estimate when it will be available. If your medicine is on back order, you just have to keep calling in from then on until you happen to reach them on a day that it came in. They actually told me this. "Call in periodically." When you call, you have to play phone tag with their awful phone robot until you can trick it into letting you speak to a person, then you have to hope that somebody will pick up instead of just hanging up without a word (which has also happened to me), so you can ask them, "Hello, may I please have the most basic possible information about whether I can have my medicine that I need?" And sometimes they'll say, "Yes, it'll be ready in two hours," and that might just be a lie, and they don't actually get it ready in two hours for some reason. I mean, stuff happens, I understand that, but, again, wouldn't it be a basic courtesy to let your customer know after you specifically told them two hours that it'll actually just not be fulfilled the entire day? But nope, they'll also just not tell you that they're not going to get it ready or that they failed to, and then the store closes for the night and you go another day without your medicine. I try to be understanding and patient but this is the third or fourth time this year that I've had trouble, and at this point it's clearly not an anomaly, it's just the way that I should expect to be treated if I continue to come here. I would be a fool not to switch pharmacies at this point. It's so disappointing. There's some really lovely people who work here, but the system is not working and fixing it doesn't seem to be within the power of anybody who would care to. I understand shortages happen, but just leaving customers in a void of information as you wordlessly disregard their order indefinitely is absurd and, frankly, borderline irresponsible when we're talking about medicine. read more

Do not use the photos section of this Walgreens. If you drop off pictures to be printed out, they send it to a third party and it takes 3 weeks to return. Also the quality is horrible. I had photos printed for my bf 30th bday. When I got the physical pictures back, they were blurry and looked like trash. such a waste of my money and now I need to try to get them reprinted at a better place. This ugly incident of abusive customer service took place on Jan 9th at the Castro Valley Walgreen's. I have rarely experienced such condescending attitudes for no reason whatsoever. These two employees with whom I had the misfortune to interact are the embodiment of poor customer service, arrogance, and inappropriate treatment of your fellow man. It started when a product I was shopping for was behind a locked cabinet. Simple, right? I politely asked a tall young woman with dark long hair to please notify the correct store employee to help. Without provocation, she responded in an annoyed tone, asked me in a pointed manner what I wanted, followed up by asking what aisle I wanted assistance on. She then followed up by a wholly inappropriate inquisition into what I was asking for. Luckily it wasn't anything intimate and private like a pregnancy test or anything else of a sensitive nature She very clearly and intentionally delivered to me an unpleasant, unprofessional, and rude customer experience. It's simply not okay to treat people with hostility, rudeness and a general level of unwarranted aggression I encountered this evening. They both ought to be ashamed of themselves. Sadly, expecting these individuals to feel anything close to shame about their behavior is unlikely, non the less I think it's important to state that people deserve better treatment than what I received this evening. After this unpleasant exchange, I walked to where I needed to wait to be met by a clerk to open the cabinet. I waited quite a while and eventually had to return to the check out and ask the check out clerk a second time to call someone for help. The store was not under staffed nor were there many people in line. I was then confronted by another employee who tossed off the line "What can I do for you" and without waiting to hear my answer, rudely crossed my path, stomped to the aisle and once in front of the product asked me in a hostile, pointed manner that was most aggressive, "Do you want one or two!". As he intended, I was jarred and shocked by his hostile, almost violent tone. I froze. He took the opportunity to repeat his question in an exaggerated, slow, condescending, and insulting tone; "Dooooo youuuuu waaaant oooooone or twoooooo?", slowing down his phasing as if I was some kind of imbecile It was most disturbing. I said, "I will take one without the attitude from you please". He then took the item, and instead of handing it to me, he stomped off and took it directly to the check out, which I found strange. This has never happened before. I have never encountered this level of ambush hostility, condescension, and aggression for no reason. Appalling customer service / lack of professionalism. I later went up to him and asked him for his name. He'd turned his badge around to prevent me from seeing his name. He said he was not obligated to share his name. He claimed to be the managing / supervisor on shift, but I would be shocked Walgreen's would have such a menacing person in a position of responsibility. He then had the audacity to attempt to put me on the defensive and make out that I was the aggressor by playing the victim and claiming I was harassing him by asking his name, despite my calm and civil manner. I said he was a coward and left the store. I am disgusted and will be reporting it to upper levels to check if Walgreen's is ok with these people representing them. read more

I get updates and texts on when my prescriptions are ready to be picked up and 9 out of 10 times when I get there they tell that the prescription isn't ready yet. So then why did I get a text? They're unapologetic when they make mistakes, they're not very helpful and on top of it rude about it all. This Walgreens in general is a hot mess. Most of the employees are rude and never helpful. Wow, I'm shocked to hear people talking about their customer service! This Walgreens is located in the Village Plaza across from Ross and the recently new TJ Maxx. Parking is pretty much not a problem and this location also has the drive thru pharmacy. Thankfully, I have been coming to this Walgreens for a while and haven't had to deal with any bad customer service. This is usually my go to store when I have to pick up prescriptions . I usually pay with my benefits card from my job and there are times where it doesn't work and the lovely ladies at the pharmacy do not mind going out of their way to continuously work on the problem until my card finally works. When I pick up my medicine it doesn't take more than 20 minutes. I'm in and out usually all the time. This is also the store where I do most of my coupon shopping and not one time have they given me a problem about it :-)! Good experience for me so far! read more

We went to this Walgreens because we wanted to print a Christmas photo for our grandmother. While shopping for other items, we had a difficult time finding an associate to assist us with razors. The cabinet for the razors didn't have a help button, so I pressed the customer service button in the eye care aisle (problem solving skill). An associate came a few minutes later but seemed annoyed that we needed razors and not eye drops. Our second and most pressing issue was with the photo department. There are two pressing issues. One the photo associate told us one photo machine wasn't available. So we waited for the second one. We assumed he had a photo cord but he didn't and wouldn't allow us to purchase one. The shift leader at the time attempted to help us by calling over. But the photo guy was still unhelpful. read more

I think in order to be hired at this store you have to be able to complain loudly about never getting a break and to lack any customer service etiquette. While the store is kept cleaner than its counterpart off of Foothill Boulevard, the employees can be offputting. Often, their gripes come from not having enough staff scheduled to offer both help away from the register and to relieve each other for timely breaks. This is the reality of how Walgreens runs its stores. And part of me feels extreme empathy for the retail worker who is overworked, underpaid, and given little support for the sake of corporate greed. However, it feels awful to check out and not be acknowledged or to overhear a litany of dissatisfaction spew from a cashier's mouth. This time I went here to get an umbrella and some quick cleaning supplies. I was visiting a elderly relative and wasn't as prepared for the rain nor the help my relative needed in cleaning his house. Luckily I didn't need help finding the items and getting to the cash register. Today, there was a line of three others in front of me but it took the cashier 30 minutes to get through the line. She spent more time talking to an employee across the way stocking makeup than acknowledge anyone in line. When anyone tried to ask a question, she was quick to cut them off. After watching how she treated the three before me, I just paid quickly, said little, and didn't even try engaging in eye contact with her. I needed a Rx filled right away and the staff got it done for me in about an hour. The script was written for a topical cream, which was out, so they filled it with an ointment. It's unfortunate that the pharmacy closes at 6. On top of that the workers in that department are rude and unprofessional. The lady working on my order practically announced to everyone there what medication I was waiting on. When I inquired about some allergy medicine she acted like she didn't know what it was. She clearly wanted me out of there. The tone of her voice sounds irritated. The rest of the crew talk sh*t about the other customers that are waiting on the side. Please train the staff to be friendlier because someone that's sick like me sometimes can't make it to another Walgreens to pick up my things. I went to this store the other day and there was a robbery, me and my son went to the pharmacy to pickup a prescription, when we noticed the robbery we were so scared for our lives, I asked the ladies from the pharmacy if we could go inside the pharmacy to be safe and they all said no and closed the window and door to my son and myself, they left us outside where the danger behind us, they didn't care about our lives, they were selfish and only thought about themselves, is that how you care about your customers? Walgreens Castro Valley is the worst ever. I am so don't with them I am moving everything to CVS I hear the are good and on time. Walgreens pharmacy DOES NOT answer the phone. Today, Friday May 14th, 2021 at around 3:30 pm, my mother, brother and I walk into the Walgreens in Castro Valley located at Castro Valley Blvd. in "The Village" shopping plaza to pick up a prescription. I also have been having horrible allergies so I was going to pick up some allergy medication & snoring sleep strips. I couldn't find the nose strips so I approached a short hispanic or middle eastern lady with blonde curly hair pinned up & asked for the strips. She didn't understand me so she gave me the wrong directions. This is not what this review is about. I eventually found what I needed and was headed to the register to pay with my family members and their items too. We were approached by the store manager Rocio after over hearing the Hispanic lady Leyla accusing my brother of stealing. "Do you want to take out what you have in your pocket?" Store manager asked my brother. He didn't have anything in his pockets that belonged to the store. We were all together, we have money and have no reason to steal. My brother replied, "Miss, I don't have anything in my pocket that belongs to the store, is there a reason of why you are accusing me?" The women in that store stereotyped my brother, because of the way he looked. He suffers from mental illness, he can't control his tics but he isn't a person that would harm anyone or do anything. She obviously didn't have anything to hold him for since she found nothing. Walgreens Castro Valley, you have humiliated my brother and my family in front of public for no reason. You have scared my brother and triggered his mental illness, he now is too scared to go out in stores or in the public because he is afraid he will be judged again in the same way you did. I advise everyone if you don't want to deal with this ordeal to please stay away from this location. They have no respect for people with mental illness, or people of color. We won't be shopping here anymore. I'll be transferring all of my prescriptions to CVS. We have been long time customers of Walgreens, I'm very disappointed in them. read more
