So this wouldn't be a very convenient spot for me. However, I had an antibiotics prescription sent to my usual walgreens just to find out they now close at 5pm on weekends... obviously I can't wait for something like this. So when I called walgreens and managed to get a hold of a human, I was told this one was open 24 hours. I called them and they were able to move and fill my prescription right away. However, it wasn't something they did in a friendly manner. Instead I felt like they were annoyed to have to do something. The tone of the person on the phone was displeased to say the least. A similar issue at pickup, the gentleman who was running the counter wouldn't even acknowledge my small talk. Just flat out ignored me. Overall they can have a 3, they did the thing I needed, when I needed it done. That's good enough. A little customer service would go a long way... I know I'd be fired at my job if I acted that way and my job isn't potentially life or death like a pharmacy. read more

This is my local Walgreens. I shop here all the time, but rarely have a need for prescriptions. I haven't picked up a prescription here in over a year, if not longer. Well today I had the worst experience I have ever had in any establishment. Yesterday my daughter's doctor sent over a prescription. I received a text asking if i wanted it filled and I responded yes. I hadn't received any other texts for a full day, so I chose to go in since I knew the insurance needed to be updated anyway. The first employee I saw was fine, but definitely had a bit of an attitude when I told her I thought my daughter's medical insurance was the same as rx. She was correct and instead of standing there while I got the correct information, I chose to leave and come back. When I came back I was helped by a different employee. She updated the insurance the said the prescription would be ready later in the afternoon. I said that I had confirmed via text that I wanted it filled and that I would have thought it would be ready, she simply repeated herself and walked away from me. I stood there floored but I said nothing else and I left very upset. I revived a text maybe 15 minutes later saying my prescription was ready. Great. This time I go to the drive through since I know all I'll have to do is pay at this point. There was another customer in the first lane and there was a sign in my lane asking to wait patiently and not hit the call button. The other customer drives away and I do notice a sign in the window saying something about the pharmacist they could not fill any prescriptions until 7:15(no am or pm noted). Which made no sense because it was 11am. So I sat there for about 5 more minutes and decided to just go in. Pharmacy was closed for lunch. I was completely ignored and disregarded in the drive through. At the very least put up a sign saying the entire staff left for lunch and the CORRECT time they will return. All of these pharmacy employees are rude and not courteous in any way. I will not be using Walgreens ever again and I don't recommend anyone else does either. read more

CONSIDER FILLING AND REFILLING COMPOUNDED MEDICATIONS ANYWHERE ELSE if POSSIBLE: We currently rely on this location to fill our daughter's compounded heart medication. Due to the fact that it is a compounded medication, we are unable to request refills online. Every time we need a refill, we call the store. Our call is usually answered quickly by a pharmacy tech, but as soon as we provided the patient info, we are immediately placed on hold and in a line. The hold time usually ranges from 40 minutes, to over an hour. Often, when we finally reach the front of the queue, the call is disconnected and we are forced to start the entire process over. Even when we attempt to explain that we have been repeatedly disconnected, the technician transfers us back to the hold line before we can finish speaking, which results in the same cycle repeating itself. Today I've played the game twice, only to make it to the front of the line for the second time, just in time to be told it is now time for the pharmacy's 30 minute meal break. Usually, this process has to play out a few time before a successful refill can be intiated. It is 2025 and i am not sure why the process is so broken. I would avoid using this location for compounded medication if I had a choice. ***UPDATE: In the time today I was on hold with Walgreens, I was able to begin the process of transferring the prescription to the Crystal Lake Pharmacy (NOT A WALGREENS). As president of a local labor union, Walgreen's broken process has motivated me to seek all alternatives to Walgreen's for pharmacy coverage during future benefit negotiations. I will encourage other labor unions in the area to do the same. read more

Much improvement over the last year. I have been pleasantly surprised. The script comes when ordered and expected or it's ready the first try. While the off site process isn't my favorite we just went in for a med with a 2 day expected fulfillment we wanted to start taking right away and they had it in stock and filled it in 5 minutes. Maybe completely closing for breaks has helped? I like it's a 24/7 location. read more

Consistently horrible! Told an emergency prescription would be ready at 11:45 by Walgreens generated text. Arrived at 12:30 and told it's not ready and to wait another 15 minutes. Customers' time needs to be respected! Tell me what time to come and that's the time I'll be there. I have a busy work schedule too, and my time is also important. Clearly Walgreens is understaffed, underprepared, and is lacking respect for their customers. But frankly, I don't know why we continue to come back here. the drive through and pharmacy in general is absolutely horrible and has gone tremendously down hill. I have been getting my prescriptions from this location for over 10 years and the past year or two have been incredibly difficult and annoying when trying to get my prescriptions. they are always randomly cancelled and not filled when they state they are in the app. Don't even get me started on their incredibly dumb meal break from 6:45pm-7:15pm.. I understand people need breaks but not the whole staff needs to go at one time, they always close around 6:45pm and I try and get there early in order to get my prescription, (for context I work out of town and don't get off work until around 6:15pm-6:30pm) The past 3 days they have closed at least 10-15 minutes early, there's always a line which is understandable but when it's takes 20-30 minutes to get through the line then they close early after you had waited it's incredibly infuriating. Again this is about the drive through, I am aware I can just go into the store but then what is the point of the convenience of the drive through. I'm so fed up with this walgreens, will be moving my business elsewhere. read more

Either the store cannot staff, which can question management. Or The staff have very little training due to numerous customers in LONG LINES DUE TO LONG TIMES. How long in time? Over 20 minutes+. This is the WORST Walgreens I've ever visited. I really go here because it's 2 mins from my house, but the wait times in the drive through can be up to 45 mins. The staff is rude, short, and less than helpful. You MAYBE get 1 or 2 really nice people but it so inconsistent. You let a manager know and nothing changes. You ask them to fill a prescription and they can't even do that. Also- warning- don't leave your paper prescriptions behind unless you know they'll fill it, or they'll wind up throwing it away and having to pull it out of the trash. You ask them to check other Walgreens for the refill if they don't have it? Oh no they can't do that either but of course that depends on the employee you get and if they are feeling generous that day. This place is just worthless read more

Got my winter bronchitis. Have to go on a business trip tomorrow. Why not run down to Walgreens and those nice people at Advocate at see about something to tide me over. Filled out contact appt info online, address and insurance. Got to clinic same questions on the check in screen. Address and insurance. Finished with check in handed clip board whit paper same question. Address and insurance . Then the assistant comes out and what does she ask for ? Address and insurance. 10 am appointment, an hour to see the nurse practioner. Two hours before I walked out with an inhaler that I hope has enough in it to last a week. Refill? " No can do, Captain". You have to come back and do it again. It's an inhaler for bronchitis. Sheesh ! 80 some for the inhaler, God knows what for Advocate. New Year, new deductible. Blue Cross will pay something. Nobody seemed to know how much Inhaler works. Feel better already. read more

I go to this Walgreens regularly, as it is the only Walgreens in town, to fill my prescriptions and buy cigarettes. If you're going there to do the latter then you will most likely encounter no problems, the people at the front register are usually very nice and they'll gladly hand you your cigarettes and you can be on your way. Now the filling prescriptions part, that's where my problem is. It seems like there is only one good pharmacist in the whole store, and I don't know his name, but he is in his late 30s, wears glasses and is going bald. He's a cool guy, but the rest of them are not. They are lazy and most of the time rude, especially the short little asian pharmacist, I hate her guts. I don't like how most who work here will act like they're doing me a favor filling my prescription, as if being paid 20+ dollars an hours is such a hard life for them that they need praise for doing their damn job. It certainly doesn't help that they're understaffed either(or maybe just really really really slow?), and you'll likely be waiting 20 minutes or longer whenever you come to pick up something. And that's if your prescription is even filled and ready, as I have had several instances where I would arrive many hours after the call-in only to have them inform me they're out of stock on the medication. No call beforehand, no warning that I will need to go to another pharmacy, I will get there thinking I'm getting my medicine is ready(surprise!), only to be sent on a wild goose hunt across the Walgreens branches in the area hoping one of them has it in stock. I find this extremely frustrating and incompetent on their part, but one look at the people they have working here and it's no wonder why it happened. It's sucks that Walgreens is a monopoly kind of business like Wal-Mart because there's no escaping it sometimes and it is very conveniently located on every street corner. I will very likely go here again, even though I loathe the experience every time, because in the end it is just easier than driving out to somewhere else. I can only write bad reviews and hope they manage to get their crap together. read more

Life savers!!! My ear was clogged from a wax build up. Went to take care clinic. Got right in. The nurse practitioner was thorough and cleared the blockage quickly and painlessly. You don't realize how much you depend on your hearing until you lose it. Great service Walgreens!!! read more

I'm a little upset with the whole process of the wellness center at this location! Took my sick daughter in as a "walk-in". The system said "6" people before her. After sitting there for 30 minutes with no other patients waiting or in the room this lady comes out to give me this whole explanation about not being able to see my kid! She did say I can wait to see if anyone cancels, but otherwise she can't be seen is pretty much what i was told. OH but their is a Centegra I can take her to or make an appt. for her to be seen in the morning. Why is it advertised that walk ins are welcomed? If I felt she needed to go to Centegra I would've went! Still no one was there during the time that she gave me this whole explanation. At that moment she could've been checking my kid. I personally felt as she was overwhelmed and rejected seeing her! I will not go back to this location for service! read more

How is it that the McHenry Walgreens got renovated before some of the others did? I have NOT A CLUE but I am happy for it! They had to have doubled their inventory with this expansion. They have brewed coffee, groceries, way more pantry items, it's just so much bigger and better. I've been going to this walgreens for awhile and the only reason why I'm giving it 3 stars are a few employees. I have placed 3 online order since covid started and 2 out of the 3 were a the so messed up. 1st one I ordered I guess there online service went down which was fine but they couldn't even give refund my money and at the time that was all the money so I had to wait 2 days for a refund. 2nd time was today I ordered a few things and I got a email stating 2 things were out of stock so I went in and place a order for the 2 things that were out of stock with things like them and ordered them. OMG that much of fried there minds because my son in-law picked up the orders and walked in with just a bag and I thought the other stuff was still in his car nope he was told they couldn't charge my credit card BUT mind you they all ready did and I had both email saying they are ready for pick up. So I was pissed off so I called customer service number and the rep said they are both ready and she even said the one was already pickup. So I told her to call McHenry and make sure before I go out into the winter snow storm that the order is available and she said hold on and SHE HUNG UP ON ME OMG again. So I went there anyways and had my emails and texts message ready and the customer service rep saying it was ready and I said to the manager "I WASN'T LEAVING WITHOUT MY ORDER" So I left with my order. This online is suppose to help customers with covid and time f*** that I will never order from them on line again. read more

This is the worst Walgreens I have ever been to. Years ago they refused to fill a prescription for my daughter and would not return it to fill at another pharmacy until I spoke with their manager. I have not been back since. Today I returned sick to visit their clinic after 30 minutes waiting for their "dr" I was told even though they had my insurance and I had a digital insurance card I would not be seen unless I paid to print it in their photo center. I will never return! I am horrible disappointed in this location and will steer clear of Walgreens from now on! I am only giving this place a star because I can not give zero stars! read more

This particular Walgreens Pharmacy is absolutely the worst that I have ever dealt with. It takes them at least 15 minutes to answer the phone, when your the 1st in line and they pick up your Call and quickly put you back on terminal hold. All this while one is still 1st in the call queue. I know this because I've called before and when there were more people ahead of me waiting in this terminal HELL hold waiting for a breathing body to pick up the phone. And when they do finally answer your call, they do not say anything about who they are, like Walgreens Pharmacy or at least Walgreens. I would also like to point out that this is not the norm for all Walgreens. The other Walgreens, in a 10 mile radius, of my location do not seem to have this issue. This I know because I have had the opportunity to need them because the Fox Lake Walgreens doesn't have the medication in stock that I need. This also seems to be an ongoing problem. I refill the same prescriptions every month. This is no way to run ant business, let alone a Pharmacy. Especially when it is the ONLY DRIVE THRU in the town. read more

The only redeeming factor is that this pharmacy is open 24/7 and has a drive-through. I used to fill my Rx's at Osco and never had any problems with insurance while, with the same insurance, I have a problem almost every other time I fill or even refill a Rx. I am not sure if this is with all Walgreens as it is a networked system, so i am sure it is, but it's very frustrating. The pharmacy staff ranges from put out at having to ring you up to indifferent. The overall store is always out of 80-90% of what is on sale that week while Island Lake and Spring Grove Walgreens rarely have that problem; however, this seems to be an issue with all McHenry stores. The cashiers are for the most part kind and helpful, especially the lady who is there on Saturdays (I wish I could remember her name and will update when I find out). She takes time to help with coupons as Walgreens is whacked on their coupon policy. They never seem to have enough cashiers when they need them and will only open another register when the line is almost back to the camera counter. So, the cashiers do the best that they can with sometimes very little support. I have had a few instances in dealing with management and have to say they were attentive at reasonably accommodating but I think they could help their cashiers out a bit more than they do now. Bottom line, they got 2 stars for being 24/7 and having decent help in the general store area; pharmacy not withstanding. If you want a store that is well stocked, go to Island Lake or Spring Grove. read more

I have used this Walgreens and considered it so-so, with just the typical annoyances (i.e. slow register lines with 1 cashier ringing with a line back to Camera/Photo while other staff socializes, poor customer service). The best thing about them is that they're 24 hours year-round, so if you, say, run out of (insert random item here) on Christmas Eve when everything else is closed, BOOM, get it at Walgreens. I use the pharmacy here regularly and never had a problem with them until now. This 1-star review reflects the pharmacy. I've gotten phone calls from TWO of my doctors offices in the past two weeks stating that a request for a refill was made by this Walgreens. However, I never requested the pharmacy contact these physicians offices for any refills. When it happened once, I thought it might have been a fluke or mistake; however, the second time around angered me. I mean, here I'm getting calls from doctor's offices I haven't seen in over a year and/or don't prescribe me this medication, so I look like some big dummy having medication requested when it's irrelevant and inappropriate! One of the two medications I couldn't even place as taking until my doctor's office stated it was some antibiotic I took about a year ago. So I contacted the store twice (once before calling the second doctor's office and once after), and both times the pharmacist and pharmacy manager denied that this has happened. The only "explanation" the manager could come up with is that *I* may have requested a 90-day supply via a phone refill, which makes no sense given that [1] I know how to follow their phone directions and can even recite the dumb thing by heart, [2] my insurance doesn't cover 90-day refills, and [3] wasn't even making ANY requests for refills, period. If this ridiculousness happens again, I'll be switching pharmacies. read more
