Considering that the hospital is right up the street, it definitely comes in handy for filling prescriptions and last minute items, gifts, or amenities in case Target is closed. An ATM is available along with a photo area, and you can buy cigarettes, vaping products, even a Plan B behind the front counter. Walgreens is Walgreens when it comes to pricing, many items are going to be pricey but they do have sales. I've always liked the consultation window near the pharmacy, because you can ask about which OTC medicines are best suited for your symptoms instead of buying several and seeing which works best. I lost my Walgreens on Kirby/Quince (witch was great) so I changed to Poplar/Massey. At first I wasn't sure if I made the right choice in stores, but now after over a year I couldn't be happier. The prescription staff does a great job. They are helpful and don't hurry you along when you have questions. I know the drive thru is closed early from time to time but that is a staffing problem. Walgreens has implemented so many changes since the pandemic. Walgreens has to do better! It IS NOT ONE location; it is systemic. I am aware that the insurance providers seem to be leading the charge, but Walgreens does not have to make it harder-it is almost like the police are policing the gatekeepers. The system does not work! Even with SingleCare and others the prices are higher than they have ever been and Customer Service via phone just gets you put on hold and 17 minutes later disconnected! It appears as though as soon as they train someone they are replaced with a new face and little Walgreens experience!! Every time I come here for some reason the cops are here dealing with some hostile sketchy people. Like literally every single time, not even exaggerating. Also, the drive through pharmacy takes a very long time for each person to get their prescriptions. They will only have one of their lanes open, even though there are two built. Not sure why they have one out of service all the time. Ridiculous. Not sure why this location has such sketchy clientele but it makes me not want to come here as I do not feel safe and I don't want to surround myself by screaming and arguing people. We have found it very difficult to navigate the vaccine protocol at this location. Last time we walked to the counter to let them know we were there for our scheduled appointment. The pharmacist scolded my wife for skipping line and told her to go to the back of the line. Today when we arrived, we patiently waited in line for approximately 20 minutes before being seen. At that point they told us we were "late" and they couldn't administer the vaccine prior to going to lunch. Maybe some signage about their proper protocol would be helpful. read more

Worst pharmacy service in history. Have had doctors call in multiple times and they can't get prescriptions filled in anything close to a timely manner. More often than not, they just don't bother to listen to voicemails until about a day later. Had doctor this morning call in voicemail prescription and heard him do it, then had Walgreens pharmacist tell me that she had checked voicemails 3 times that day and nothing from our doctor. This is the slowest pharmacy I have ever been to every time. It doesn't matter what time you go it. You can either go inside and wait or sit in your car and wait but either way you're going to be waiting. Yes even for the express line. It's a bad decision every time. Each time I visit this pharmacy, I have to wait a minimum of 40 minutes to get a prescription filled. They either have the excuse the prescription did not come through or a question regarding insurance. I will state when the problem is regarding insurance, I do receive a text message with the number to call. The problem is that when you call the number back...you get no answer. I do understand that the Walgreens on Massey is busy and it does seem right now everyone is sick. What I do not understand is why Walgreens would not hire more people, better yet hire better quality techs to help the pharmacist. I'm really unhappy with this particular Walgreens. My biggest concern is with the pharmacy. I was picking up prescriptions for my family member who just had surgery. First I tried to call. Without exaggeration I was on hold 45 minutes until I arrived there and hung up. I waited in a very long long to be told they didn't have anything for her. While I had waited there were numerous people waiting thot said they had waited two hours. I left. We called the doctor after hours who said it's there. I went back and again was told no. At this point it was 9:40 so my family did without needed meds. I was able to go the next day but tried to call first. Again on hold for 40 minutes. It would ring, they would pick up and immediately put it on hold. At one time someone picked up and immediately said it will be awhile and put me on hold again. Eventually they hung up. The only reason I got it when I got there is the doctor office got involved. They gave me one prescription. As we found out later there should have been two, so again she went all night without a prescription she was supposed to have. Again the doctor got involved. This time it was ready. The date on the paperwork was 3 days prior so they had it all along. Just never filled it. I will never fill here again and will advise others to be wary. read more

Never, ever, ever use this Walgreen's. Their new policy is to NOT fill a 30 day vital medication until the 30th day! If you need your medications, and literally your life depends on them, they don't care. They make you come in when you've already run out whether you can make it in that day or not. It's outrageous. They always take forever to get your medicines, usually they have a hard time finding your medicines and almost every time I go in there someone in front of me is getting refused to get their medicine because of some mistake on Walgreen's part. They need to totally change the way they do things. You should be able to pick up all the medications you need one day a month maximum. I was in walgreens just now looking for odd size batteries. A man who was clearly off spent 15 minutes helping me. He was soooo nice to me, he turned out to be the manager. Wish I knew his name. It would have been so easy for him to ignore and walk right past me. There are so many nice employees in this store. The cosmetic ladies are lovely, and one long time employee, Sara is my favorite. If I could give no stars or minus I would! Robert the store Manager on Poplar Ave in Memphis is the rudest customer service person I have ever met in my entire life. I was humiliated by xenophobia. He tried to talk to my mother who is not understanding English to tell her to go to a different register when we wasn't even done looking. She did not react to him due to her not understanding. I informed him that I'm sorry that she don't understand English and he said to us that we shouldn't be there then and rolled his eyes at us. I told him that it's rude to roll his eyes at customers and say things like that and that I will put in a complaint and he said that he does not care what I do and that I never have to come back to his store anyways ever again. I said that I won't come back because I have never been treated this way and I would never treat a customer this way. He said again that he doesn't care and if I don't leave his store he will have me escorted out by police (for what exactly?) when he is the one who needs to be escorted out of his store!!! I will go as high as corporate to put in a complaint. I have never been treated this way by anyone in my entire life and especially not as a paying customer who didn't even approach a store employee. One of the worst experiences I have had trying to speak to a Pharmacy Representative, checking on prescription refills, or new ones, that NP's tried to call in for their Doctors. They continually blame their "faulty" voice mail for problems receiving incoming calls which is a lie, they make up new rules that it takes a new prescription at least 1 1/2 hours to be filled, and very seldom answer a live phone call from anyone. Who is their Supervisor and why aren't they being held accountable for unacceptable and incompetent customer service? Are they understaffed, taking too many breaks, or oblivious to the pitiful and poor service they are exhibiting.
