This is such a cute little supermarket that carries quite a few local items. The food selection is good although a little more pricier than big supermarket chains. Great little community market located on the beautiful Island of Mud. This specific spot is know lovingly as Harbor Town by the locals. Is this place on an island? Why no.... Why would you think that? Perhaps Mud Peninsula didn't flow off the tongue as well. Back on track, squirrel boy... I love that I can overpay for all the specialty niche items here, and still leave with a sense of accomplishment that is somehow tied to winning. What is it about this place? The people are nice. Sure thing, buddy, boy. The place is clean. Yea man. It's pretty well stocked with all the basic staples, and they have a great variety of cool eats as well. You can get enough of a food and supply selection to never leave the island should it start floating down the MS River. You'll just need to dock it occasionally to replenish. Specialty items are most definitely abound. They sell lots of local items, along with a plethora of stuff you cannot find anywhere else. I dig it.... I almost always walk through if I am ever nearby. I immediately fell in love with this market! They are small and within the Harbor Town community, but have so much to offer. When you walk through the door you greeted by staff and the first thing I gravitated to was the fresh produce. To my surprise the prices were really good. We continued to walk around until we got to the deli department. They have so many options on meats and cheeses. I can't wait to try some of those items out. They were out of the crab meat, but trust me...I will be back. I did however load up on the $0.99 watermelon slices, flaxseed, and other veggies. Nice place ,for a small little grocery store , I do find that it's pricey, one slice of cake $10 really? I mean do you need to gouge people like this ? Instead of being a local favorite , it's really more of a last resort place to go get something because the convenience and high prices. imagine how much more business you would do if you just adjusted your prices to %50 higher than most stores instead of 200% higher. One couldnt be more challenged than we are right now with freezing temps, streets that arent cleared to drive, supplies and food dwindling and...oh yes, the pandemic! After 5 days of snow and isolation...I had to get out!!! So i walked down to Cordelias, our local village market. Despite the weather, dwindling shelves, etc., I found warm friendly smiles and greetings from the "usual" team...who were working hard to insure that their neighbors had food, drink, and a "warm" deli treat if desired! After trudging through the snow and unpaved streets to get there...I packed a few treasures in my backpack and took a minute to enjoy a "hot" portobello melt on the patio...( yes with a warm gourmet sandwich and lots of layers) it felt a-mazing to be outdoors breathing fresh air! While selections today "may" be a little sparce...keep them on your radar, if not for groceries, then to come by and enjoy the quaint atmoshpere and phenominal bites in the deli and wine section! read more

Rude and prideful staff. I like stopping by to check the wines, sometimes they get one I like on sale, and for a business with no competition nearby, it's pretty nice. However, I stopped by one day after searching around for a certain cut of meat. I asked if they had it, and the woman behind said "what..?" With a blank stare, And I repeated myself, adding a small detail that it was for a certain dish, she goes "I know what it is, Im a ChEfFfF! Excuse me!!" And was just really rude, like how am I supposed to know that you're a "chef" when you're in front of me bagging cold cuts? I have noticed that a lot of the staff is just overly short with people and rude. read more

When I tell you I love Cordelia's - I absolutely love Cordelia's. I am living temporarily in Memphis and this place has brought me a ton of sunshine during my stay here. The cafe is outstanding. My personal faves are the Valerie's or Chris' sandwiches. I mean DELICIOUS. Definitely choose the voodoo chips! I will miss those dearly when I leave the south. The classic breakfast sandwich is also up there in deliciousness. The customer service is always top notch and I'm happy to spend some money here. For the grocery section, my only complaint is that because it's a small grocery store the product turnover can be slow. Several times I've purchased items forgetting to check the expiration date and got home to realize things expired in a couple of days and before I'd really use them. I also purchased a pack of meat and when I was getting ready to cook it for dinner, I saw it was completely brown and rotten even though it was before the expiration date. I called in and they were apologetic and said I could bring the meat back but I live 20-25 minutes away and haven't been able to come back since. So I'm just out of that money unfortunately. Now keeping that in mind, this place is so well stocked for such a small grocery store! They have everything I'd ever need here (and more) and the prices are so reasonable. I love their chicken salads and definitely recommend giving those a try. The butcher meat is also super fresh. I got a couple of ribeyes from the butcher that were amongst the best I've ever had. We have lived in Harbor Town now 4 years. Over this time we have enjoyed seeing Miss Cordelia improve. They've installed more coolers for wine, beer and softdrinks. They improved the kitchen to offer more meals. The wine coverage has expanded significantly. Parking is ample and free. Their fruit and veggies are almost always ample. I told them they always have the best pears. Their avocado prices and supply are delightful. Staff and leadership are fun and they listen. For example, I asked them to carry a low alcohol wine from Portugal for my wife. It is always in stock now and selling really well. Another wonderful service, they sell stamps! Miss Cordelia's is the only grocery store on Mud Island (Harbor Town) in downtown Memphis. Their selection isn't huge, and most of the things that they do have are fairly high-end. This is not the place to pick up a cheap bag of chips and a block of Velveeta. Their prices seem to be a little higher than at other grocery stores in Memphis (it seems like Miss Cordelia's charges for the convenience of being the only shop on the island). There's a deli in the store that has sandwiches and hot meals and a cold case with sushi, cake and wraps. Miss Cordelia's is worth stopping into for lunch, but it could get pretty pricey to get all of your groceries there. read more

I'm embarrassed to say, this was my first time going to Mud Island... What an amazing little strip they have. I felt as if I was no longer in Memphis, it's such a great place! I met a couple friends at Miss Cordelia's and was so excited to try! We waited in line for about 10 minutes because it was packed. I ordered the Cordelia's table salad just the way it comes with hot chicken and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was so fresh and the bacon was beyond perfection. My only complaint is how long we waited to get our food. It was at least 30 minutes if not longer. We finally went up and asked about it, and she said they've had a million call in orders and they have to make those first. Finally we got our food but they forgot another girls dessert she ordered. So they asked us to stand up their and wait.. 10 minutes later we finally got everything and it was all great! I just hope they improve their service! read more

One of my favorite sandwiches in Memphis can be found here. It's called the Tuscan Sun - Herb grilled chicken breast, provolone, roasted tomatoes, portabella mushrooms and pesto mayo. It's divine. And if you're a vegetarian, try the Goats in the Garden with grilled vegetables, roasted tomatoes, portabellos, roasted red pepper, pesto mayo and goat cheese on ciabatta. In addition to sandwiches, they also offer soups, veggies, artisan cheeses and a nightly dinner menu. You can take out or eat there, either inside or out on the very nice patio. If you're in the area, stop in on a pretty afternoon, grab some gourmet cheeses or a sandwich and sit outside with a bottle of wine and a good book. A perfect way to spend a pleasant day. read more

I would avoid this grocery store if possible.. it is convenient to stop by if you live on the Island but the prices are DOUBLE that of a regular grocery store. Their cold made foods are so outrageously priced it honestly makes you shake your head wondering if you read the price right. The deli does have delicious sandwiches- but overall this is a place to avoid! Everyone who lives downtown is anxiously waiting for a grocery store to open nearby that doesn't gouge all of their prices to help fund their remodel! Make your way to Kroger on Union- it's a real grocery store and only a 10 min drive... there is a closer one on Cleveland but it can be a little sketchy and don't recommend women shop alone their... happy grocery hunting (just not on mud island) read more

Staff is very friendly and eager to help so they could teach the rest of memphis something about customer service. I love thee for carrying Las Delicias guac and chips! I love thee for your yummy prepared sandwiches I could go on and on with this....seriously this is about the most completely stocked store I have EVER been in. If they don't have it you probably don't need it. They have very fresh food, an incredible variety of offerings and good prepared dishes to boot. I love that they focus on local mom and pop companies for many of their prepared things and seasonings and spices. only complaint is the prices (and that is why I docked them a star...otherwise they are 5 star in my book)...they know they have folks on the island by the short and curlies and we pay for it. Its part normal grocery store and part specialty store. Some stand out items that you may not think they have: pet food, organic locally made treats, fresh made-to-go lunch/dinner food such as sandwiches and salads, flowers, candy, etc. the thing i come here most for is their sandwich area! they make AMAZING SANDWICHES!! you have to try atleast once. they also have: macarons, cupcakes, cakes, and ready-made past salad, dinner entree/sides type things. its not the cheapest place to get groceries, but its a nice cozy grocery store and definitely is very convenient for those living on the island. read more

Convenient for Harbortown/Downtown residents, but pretty much the only grocery option. The next closest grocery store is the Kroger on Union out in Midtown. That isn't to say I don't go here by choice though! They carry some unique items and their deli makes wonderful sandwiches. Miss Cordelia's is like a miniature Fresh Market. They mark up the prices on staple items (Oscar Meyer bacon for $7), but have items that I haven't been able to find elsewhere. They also have some wonderful local items, like Las Delicias chips and guacamole! I've never seen someone buy a whole cart of groceries, most of the time it's just a couple of items. The sandwiches that the deli makes are surprisingly amazing, although they can go a little heavy on the sauce at times. My favorite is the Tuscan Sun, and I am a huge sucker for the ciabatta bread they use in the warm sandwiches. I don't think there's anything special to the bread, but it just tastes so good! The Soprano is also a pretty good sandwich if you are in the mood for meat and sodium. In the deli section, they also have a large selection of cakes and various baked goods. I've gotten the coconut cake on several occasions and it's good! I'm not really sure why each slice of cake is $6 though. Skip the "sushi". If you live on Harbortown, you are sure to find yourself here late at night purchasing a grocery item that you don't feel like driving out for. Miss Cordelia's is simply adorable. It reminds me of the type of grocery store you'd find along the beaches in Maine. There is a very small-town / Mayberry-ish feel to this store. Most likely given the fact that they are located on Mud Island. Miss Cordelia's should never be mistaken for a grocery store. Not only can you purchase some amazing produce and frozen goods here- but they are also part restaurant- part wine bar. The deli selection is no short of spectacular-they offer up tons of meats, seafood and cheeses from local farms (major plus here folks). Oh the cheeses. At Cordelia's you can get gouda, brie, jarlsburg, manchego and gruyere all in one stop. Normally I find the need to go to Whole Foods when looking for upscale cheese purchases, not any longer. On this particular visit, I picked up some wonderful marscapone and made a lovely tiramisu for our dessert that evening. So delicious. I was able to discover a couple new local favorites in my stop as well. Lil'Muddy Dog Biscuits (my dogs now love me even more than I thought possible) , a bag of McCarter Coffee (amazing), Earthspice and Lemongrass soaps from Greenehouse Soaps, and some wild chilian sea bass for dinner. I can't say that I would be able to shop at Miss Cordelia's for all my grocery needs- it is rather pricey and I wouldn't be able to pick up staples like Ding Dongs and Twizzler Nibs. I will, however, keep it on a bi-monthly rotation and as a replacement to my Whole Foods addiction. read more
