The store itself is fine, but the pharmacy employees are utterly and completely useless. They will go out of their way to make you wait. I was checked in one minute after I went there for my vaccine, but made to wait for 50 minutes while they chatted away. Finally walked out almost an hour after gone there - 30 second vaccine shot . I wish I could attribute this to malice - but it was complete incompetence . read more

This place is run horribly!!! Always panhandlers outside. Store isn't very clean. There's ALWAYS a long line to check out. Corporate needs to stop being so greedy and actually pay to have more employees in the store. No help to be found. I left and went to CVS across the street. Avoid this location at all cost!!! If I could leave a zero star I would. The pharmacy is a nightmare. Every day the line is 15 people deep and they require you wait in the full line then will let you know if your prescription is missing or something went wrong. They also don't answer the phone so you can't collect information on your prescription via phone. There are sick people and disabled people standing for hours just to be helped. I continually use this Walgreens and their pharmacy because of convenience. It's strictly convenience driven. There consistently weirdos hanging out in the parking lot. It's kind of a hot spot for loitering. The service personnel on the whole are rude and unhelpful. For very basic transactions, like rolo purchases, they are competent. They just move at their own pace and exchange no niceties. They even seem rude when they ask me to type in my phone number for rewards points. Interactions can be so much more fun...but not here. This isn't my favorite store; mostly the problem is with the other patrons. I've been hassled in the parking lot by panhandlers, cursed out by old people at the pharmacy counter for perceived slights, and harassed in the aisles by random dudes looking for a "date." So I only stop in when absolutely necessary. The store alternates between acceptable and dirty; they did a big refurbishment right before the CVS opened across the street but it's already back to being slightly ratty. This Walgreens is very close to my house which is why I continue to use it but I am considering switching to the CVS pharmacy across the street. It's nearly impossible to get a hold of the pharmacy, I'm currently on hold and have been for over an hour now. So I decided to just drive here instead and wait in this long line of cars. What the other reviewers say is NOT exaggerated in the least! This is quite possibly the WORST Walgreens on earth!!! SLOWEST pharmacy, slowest checkout, slowest EVERYTHING! I changed my prescriptions to a totally different location just because I was sick of wasting a half hour for a simple thing like picking up Rxes that are already filled. They have NO streamlining process in place, so if the person in front of you needs to fill an Rx and has insurance issues or a hundred questions, too bad, you have to wait, even though you would take less than a minute to help! They have an elderly woman working in the pharmacy who couldn't hear or read my name, phone number, etc. And deleted all my existing account info to make a new one with the name she heard. I had to wait days to hear that the insurance had been declined... Because they were filing on someone who didn't exist and never did. When this was pointed out, I was asked if I was "sure I had never spelt my name like that." pretty sure, guys. I've only had 25 years to get it right. They also failed to contact my insurance, which was verified by the insurance company, and walgreens lied to my face about it and got testy when I mentioned I'd called the insurance to check. This is the WORST pharmacy. They are so slow. I called in my prescription ahead of time and it still took them forever. This happens every single month. Very very rude employees. I was in line when a trans woman was checking out in front of me, employee Victor was extremely hateful to her and said several transphobic remarks. He purposely insulted her while becoming aggressive towards her before she exited. I was appalled by this type of behavior. I go to this location from time to time because it is really close to me and they have a Chase ATM. There is not a ton to really say about this location, it's just a very generic Walgreens. The parking lot has ample spaces and the store is generally clean and well stocked. The people in the pharmacy are nice and helped me out when I had some confusion regarding a manufacturer rebate / coupon for a prescription I fill here. All that being said, there is one thing about this location that bothers me and that is the fact that almost every time I have ever been here there is someone outside near the store entrance asking for money. I'm not a hard hearted person but whenever I get out of my car I remember that I will probably be asked. I don't know why Walgreens doesn't do anything about this because happens so often. read more

I usually would not write reviews for these chain stores but this place was so bad that I decided it must be written. I went to get my order of pictures that I had placed. They had emailed me and called me to let me know that they were ready. When i got there they were lost. No one could find them and they couldn't redo the order while I was there. So I asked if I could get my two prints (69cents) for free since I now had to drive home and redo the order and come back another time. They were incredibly rude while speaking to me and said that they could give me 15% off but that was it. I don't even care about the money but the fact was they were insanely rude and it was their mistake. I will not go back there. read more

I used to live by this particular Walgreens years ago. It is not my favorite walgreens either. The customer service here has always been rather lame. Not very friendly these employees are. The selection here is rather lame also. It is more like a convenience store except cheaper. The biggest hassle out here is the fact that this particular walgreens is right next door to the Salvation army. Be prepared to get harassed by beggars asking if you can, "spare some change". I'm not trying to bad mouth the homeless, I'm just saying it gets kinda old when you have to deal with that every single time you go there. In short not my favorite walgreens. Stopped here to get a case of beer. Alas, no beer. It was a short trip. They are conveniently located at a major intersection as Jean-Paul mentioned. It's one of the less shady-looking businesses to stop at for a couple of items in this area. Of course, after realizing they don't sell alcohol at this particular Walgreens (seriously, wtf?) I had to drive down the street to a gas station/convenience store anyway. I had the best possible experience last night with Ms. Omega Dutton, the manager of the Walgreens at 4400 S. Claiborne Avenue. I desperately needed to get a photograph processed and printed in time for a memorial service, but that store's equipment wasn't functioning due to a recent power outage. It was crucial that I have the photo by morning, so I asked Ms. Dutton for her assistance. She went far out of her way to help me not only to locate another nearby Walgreens, but also basically navigated the pre-ordering process for me on my own phone. (I'm a little challenged that way.) After only five minutes, because of her generous help I was able to drive a few miles to the other store and had my photograph waiting for me when I arrived. I've found the staff at the 4400 S. Claiborne Walgreens to be almost always helpful and courteous, but Ms. Dutton's professionalism and good humor exceeded my expectations in every way. Thanks to her, I was able to get the photograph with a minimum of trouble: furthermore, it looks great and will be a focal point for the memorial service of a departed friend tonight. They advertise open until midnight but decided to close up shop 11:45pm. This one of the most frustrating things a business can do. This review makes me feel like one the "annoying customers" from the classic film Clerks, fuming out front self righteously checking my watch. I don't expect a lot from a place like Walgreens. I know the prices are higher, but let's face it: Walgreens is really just a super sized convenience store. What I do expect is the staff to GET OFF THEIR CELL PHONES and actually help customers. One employee was in the aisle, chatting away and ignoring me when I asked for help finding something. What a terrible experience, I will never step foot in this Store ever again. I was feeling a little hungry and thought I'd stop at Walgreens for a quick snack. While standing on the isle trying to choose a snack, a Walgreens worker walked passed me, she gave me a very mean look, so I smiled and said, "hi, how are you tonight " she very roughly said "hi". So, I choose my snack, it was beef jerky on sale for 1.99. Got to the register and no one was there. So, I walked towards the isles and saw the same worker that seemed angry earlier. I asked "excuse me, mam, are you working at the register?" She said "yes" , I told her I was ready to check out. She walked to the register, I honestly felt the hatred towards me radiating from her. I've never met this lady in my life before this. I don't know what I could have done. She rang me up , I noticed after I already gave her my 5 dollar bill, she rang me up for too much, the total was 2.90, I asked her why it rang up so high. She asked do I have a rewards card. Well, yes I do. At that point, I'm done with her bad attitude. I'm just ready to leave. I'm like, please just give me my 5 back, I don't want the beef jerky, she refused to just hand me my money back, she made me stand there while she did a refund. The guard walked up and told me to calm down. I was calm. I really feel I was being harassed by this lady. After asking for my 5 back, she handed me 4 ones and a handful of change, anyone could tell she was doing that just to spite me not getting my 5 back. I was harassed. Last time I will ever support this location. Was there with my son (sick and less than two years old). Son knocked over a bottle of baby shampoo as I was reading the difference between children's and infants tyelenol. Lady 5 feet from me asked "are you just gonna let him do that?" I politely stated "I'm not asking your opinion on how to raise my son." She lost it, started yelling and using profanity. Staff from the Walgreens came and basically escorted me out because this lunatic was dropping the F bomb repeatedly in front of my 20mth kid. I'm done with this place. My wife was done with this place a year ago because all the loiterers and similar experiences. I didn't really believe it was that bad till today. I generally like Walgreens, and prefer them to other stores like CVS and Rite Aid, but not this one. It's got to be one of the worst Walgreens locations around, and that is partly their fault, and partly the fault of other people or customers. So, I've been forced to write a review, and when that happens, I'm longwinded, so enjoy my forewarning about this store! First, the things that are their fault that make this location bad. They allow homeless people to sit RIGHT outside the door ALWAYS to beg customers for money on their way out. I'm not rich, and I don't look close to it, especially when I get out of my 20-y/o car leaking water out the radiator because I can't afford to fix it. In fact, they have a hell of a lot more money than I do, even if it's only a nickel, since I have NEGATIVE money thanks to over $50 grand of student debt I'm repaying, and I will be living on Ramen for years to come. In the city, store managers let people get away with that, but I've seen them at other locations ask the beggars to leave, as any good manager should. It's bad for business, and they should know it. Why poor people go to beg at the stores where most the customers are poor, I don't know. Second, the service sucks. I rarely want more than one thing, and I have to wait 10-15 minutes often because they will have one person working the line with 10-15 customers waiting. Now, the only thing that makes this Walgreens suck that is out of their control is that they get a lot of customers with ridiculous requests, and those customers will hold up the line of 10 people in order to have their odd requests fulfilled. The other day, a guy bought 2 Mountain Dews for $4.88 and have the woman a $5 bill, which was reasonable. He got his 12 cents change. But then the idiot had to give her a $1 bill and the 12 cents back, so that he could ask for 88 cents to pay with exact change for some stupid-ass reason, and created a whole bunch of confusion that caused him to get the wrong change, all because he's an idiot. The day before that, it was a girl buying something cheap with a $100 bill who wanted the change back with 20 $1 bills and the rest in $5s! Then, just yesterday, it was a woman wanting to buy groceries with dimes, nickels and pennies. Thank god the woman behind her was tired of waiting and offered to pay the remaining balance so she wouldn't be counting all day. Some of the customers in this store, I swear should audition for Walking Dead, because they are naturals, being brainless and all. read more

Worst customer service at the photo center! Janell claimed the photo lab didn't open until 9 am, which the website says 7am. My photos were supposed to be ready at 7:50am. I came in at 8:15. I'm only giving 2 stars because the pharmacy had the medication I needed (cvs was out). Otherwise, they said 1 hr and it took closer to 2 and the guy who checked me out at the pharmacy was extremely rude. At least you could be friendly if you are running behind. read more
