Bad news, if you have a heart condition or perhaps need your medicine, this is not the place to go. What can I say about Walgreens that you don't already know? This store was really dirty when I went in there. It wasn't junky; just dirty on the floors & kind of disorganized. Seemed like they could use a deep cleaning & maybe some updated decor. The service was not good. Not one single staff member spoke to me, including the cashier when I checked out. It was weird...kind of like being in the Twilight Zone. They seemed like they were in another world. Maybe I just went on an off day. The visit just wasn't a good one. There was no apology for the ridiculous amount of time it took and the line that wrapped around the block of the building. I was in a time crunch to score birthday gifts for a young boy's party so I popped in today. Parking lot was busy but I scored the first space. Funny thing, I drive by this store 5 out of 7 days a week but since it's tucked between 21st and the neighboring underpass/railroad tracks, it's truly "out of sight out of mind." Automatic entry doors were the only thing that welcomed me at arrival despite the abundance of employees standing around in clicks, complaining about shifts and other drama. Thought the store had a drab, dully lit vibe but, hey, I was on a mission. Found some reasonably priced recognizable games (not bo-bo off brand) that were a tad cheaper than amazon prices. Nice right? On my way to the checkout, my eye caught a large section with a "70% off select merchandise" sign. As I investigated, I discovered both sides of the entire 100' aisle qualified for what I assumed was an after season clearance sale. Aka - take this seasonal crap off of our hands so we can stock it with more seasonal crap. Was there month old Christmas chocolates and a few gaudy ornaments? Yes! But there were holiday perfume, makeup and hair care gift sets too. Let me tell you, I scored major points with my wife and daughters when I nabbed a 3 pack TRESemmé hair care set for $3. Yes, $3! Retail cost is $20 but they were selling for $10 with 70% off. The dry shampoo alone usually costs $4-$5. I carried 5 sets to the checkout where the friendly service oriented cashier, Chrissy, who appeared to be the only employee hard at work, confirmed my bargain bounty! Well worth the trip. If you like M&Ms or Lindt truffles, get there and stock up soon for pennies on the dollar. Hopefully you can work off the calories when you do cartwheels and flips over the savings?!? read more

This review is for the pharmacy. It seems that it is going downhill fast! My doctor sent a prescription electronically on a Wednesday - it was finally ready on Sunday. Was it for something exotic- no. Just prescription strength iron tablets for my bad anemia. my wife was discharged today from her C-section. The prescription was sent to Walgreens. And she opted in for the text message updates well several hours went by and nothing. She was in a lot of pain I called the pharmacy to get an update and the voice AI whatever you wanna call it asked what I needed. So I asked for an update, put in all the info and it said that the prescription was still in progress so a few more hours went by, and nothing. I went to the Walgreens to figure out what's going on and they haven't filled the prescription because there was a problem with the insurance so they didn't send a text or anything to let us know and now I'm waiting another hour for the prescription. My wife is lying in bed crying with the newborn baby because she's in so much pain. Walgreens y'all need to fix your system! read more

It's been 2 weeks I have been without my diabetic medication. I called last Monday because my app said to call. The pharmacy answered after being on hold for 40 minutes to be told its out of stock and that he was putting in the order for tomorrow. I never thought I would be writing a Yelp review on a Walgreens yet here I am. I had the most unbelievably pleasant experience at this Walgreens today with Victory at the beauty counter. I jokingly mentioned while checking out how hard it was to pick a shade inside the store because of the lighting. This is for their FedEx service. Every time I've come here to use FedEx they have declined due to some issue and offer very little help other than to go to PakMail up the street. They also get irritated and rude with you for bringing in FedEx. I do not recommend using their service here. read more

This is my go-to place for cosmetics usually. They have nail polish and eyeliner here that I can't find anywhere else (plus it's super cheap at only $1.99 a piece, weee!). Also I like the fact that there is an additional check out area specifically for the beauty/cosmetics area. The staff here is very friendly, in fact one older gentleman who works here is SUPER friendly. If you've been in here and heard him shout 'WELCOME TO WALGREENS' then you know exactly who I am talking about. There is also a pharmacy at this location as well as photo developing. There are a few aisles of food, mostly snacky stuff and drinks. This is a good place to stop in and grab those few items you forgot at the grocery store. read more

I enjoy going to this pharmacy mainly because it is so close to where I live and because it is open 24hrs. However, because of these qualities that evidently other people enjoy as well, they are always very busy. They always seem to be short pharmacists/pharmacy techs and so many mistakes are made with drug filling and they don't always get things done at the time you request or the time they promise. They offer all the other things that a Walgreens offers. They have a 24 hr drive thru pharmacy and have a photo developing service. They also have a limited supply of groceries and cosmetics. If their pharmacy were improved, then this place would be pretty decent. I only wish that at least one of the two Rite Aids next door were 24 hours as well. read more

The pharmacy is the worst. Just the worst. My child's doctor faxed in a prescription. 30 minutes later, we arrive. They hadn't started it. Give us 25 minutes, they say. Okay. We walk around for 10 minutes and are called back to the pharmacy. Walk back up to counter (nobody is in line), and stand there as employee stares at screen and ignores us standing 2 feet from her face. Finally, she says "YESCANIHELPYOU." Yes please, I say. We were called back to the pharmacy. So she rings it up, then says, "Oh, they still need to mix it." Then she takes the bag with the medicine vials and THROWS IT TO HER COWORKER, saying "HEYCANYOUMIXTHISUP." Jesus. What? So we finally leave with our medicine. Maybe all the pharmacy employees are religiously exempt from not being assholes. read more

Worst photo dept in the history of my Walgreens photo experience. Paid for same day didnt get it. Had to call to ask when it would be ready and wald they had to reprint it cause it was wrong the first time. Seems like a fib to me. Then I picked it up and it was not done correctly and lady at the photo area could have cared less. Staples showing and misaligned. Super bad attitude. Their pharmacy is unprofessional and difficult to get ahold of. I had to call 7 times to figure out what was wrong with my prescription and they constantly left me on hold and then hung up on me once the call was on hold for longer than 5 minutes so I would have to recall and be placed on hold AGAIN. Once I finally got a hold of them, I asked them to make sure not to get the generic version of my medication. The generic version is well known among pharmacists as an awful and cheap product that induces the worst side effects. Of course they then lied to me and said they ordered the brand version but guess what came in ?? The generic version. Instead of following my doctors prescription and the exact instructions on them asking for the brand version and listening to me after I specifically called to confirm they were ordering the brand version, I got the shitty generic version. I ended up calling the Walgreens in Portsmouth and the pharmacist there was lovely and told me this Walgreens was wrong for changing my prescription order to the generic medication without telling me or even trying to order the brand version. Probably just wanted to pawn off their awful generic medication sitting on their shelves that no one wants. What they were supposed to do was check if the warehouse had my brand version and order that instead. The Portsmouth pharmacist did the right thing and ordered the brand medication for me and I will be picking it up tomorrow. However, because of this Walgreens huge mistake, I will be missing a few days of my medication and will have side effects due to missing it including bleeding. Cool. read more

Excellent service, really professional, and the pharmacy would call me just to check in. 2 months ago I moved and the 21st Street location is my new pharmacy. Horrible service in this pharmacy. Always clean and convenient but perpetually understaffed. One of the few places I can find a USAA ATM. It seems as though there is only one register open at a time no matter how busy they get, but the drinks are always cold and they're rarely out of stock when it comes to common meds. Try finding somewhere else who can brag about always having enough Zyrtec during ragweed season. Their free rewards program can garner you some great deals, so make sure you sign up. Well, crap, there are now five people in line but Jeff Buckley's "I shall be released" came on Pandora while I was waiting so that gives me the chill I need to not get mouthy...20 mins later I get my meds from a mumbly woman who's thrilled to help me and I get to navigate my way the the point of sale's nosy 20 questions. This is my go-to pharmacy in Norfolk. Located right before Ghent and on 21st street. They're open 24 hours which is convenient and they also have a drive thru for the pharmacy. This location is also close to ODU's campus. Only downside to this Walgreens or most Walgreens is that the drive thru portion of the pharmacy is always slow. read more
