Hilariously understaffed. Somehow gotten worse over the years. Find any other pharmacy.

The Northbrook Walgreens leaves a lot to be desired. I think it's probably the worst location they have. This is not my usual store, but I stopped in to pick up some post surgery supplies for my mother. This is closest to her location. I was having difficulty holding a big pile of supplies when I approached the counter. They took my money, but wouldn't give me a bag until I agreed to pay extra for the bag. If this is the policy, it should be posted at the store entrance. Reusable bags should also be available at the counter for purchase. Neither is true at this store. I paid for a crappy disposable bag that they wouldn't accept back for recycling after I moved my purchases to the car. But It would have taken me 3 trips to get it all out to the car without a bag. Then they refused to give me a receipt for my purchases. The clerk said no one gets a receipt unless he calls the store manager to come over from his office, and that might take a while. I didn't have time to wait so I left. But after I saw my mother she said she wished I'd bought the larger size on one item. No chance to exchange it at the Northbrook Walgreens because I have no receipt. This is the most unfriendly Walgreens ever. We can only hope it is on the company's short list for locations to be closed. read more

I have been using this pharmacy for over 2 years now, and I have literally never gotten a refill done in one visit/attempt. If I can get my Rx refilled in 2 visits that's actually a great outcome here. Just found out I will need to come back a fifth(!!!) time in two weeks for them to finally refill my prescription. This is a time-sensitive prescription and my quality of life has been affected by this pharmacy's incompetence too many times. Never using this location again; if you have any other options, please use those. Don't be like me and assume they'll do better next time, they do not care. read more

Good Afternoon, I am writing on behalf of myself at an experience at Walgreens Pharmacy today, May 1st at around 12:30ish. I went to this location as it is my neighborhood Walgreens. I have been a "customer" as long as I have lived in Skokie, 20 years. Today was so terrible. I was standing in line and this Walgreens employee was at the register, helping no one. I said "can you help me?" This young woman looks at me and says ..... very rudely I may add, that I need to sign in with my phone and then they will call me. So as hard as it is to get in line and have a skeleton staff, I say I don't have my phone. She responds SO RUDELY that I have to sign in on the kiosk and they will call me. I sign in and it is not working. So I sign in again. Now at this time there are NO customers at the pharmacy. About 2 min later they call my name and I had another young woman help me. She was indeed very quiet. I see the woman who was so rude to me and I said.... It may be nice if you weren't rude to me. She starts to yell at me that I was rude first. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. She continues to mouth off at me about being rude first and then... out of my character I said, fuck you. The pharmacist yells at me to GET OUT. I am 59 years old and have been in customer service my whole life. What should have happened is someone should have said to me... I am sorry that you are upset is there anything I can do to help you? First off acknowledging that I am upset would be the first way to handle it. To have an employee of your company speak to me like that, I was rude first. This is a horrible experience and everyone needs to know. I am not a stupid woman and to have one of your employees yell at me was so disconcerting. I cannot believe you employ people who cannot handle an issue. Listen I understand that people are not kind and that is something that comes with customer service. There is a way to handle it. This was not the way to handle it with me. I am under the impression that no one cares about anything at Walgreens. I will never step foot in your store again, and again I am sure that you don't care. The world is bad enough that having this young woman yell at me is a disgrace. I really don't care who was rude first. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO HANDLE IT. With anyone. I would like to know whose idea it was to have us sign in on a kiosk or our phone. There are a lot of older people around here and I am sure that they have issues with just using the kiosk. Today was not the day for an employee yell at me. This experience was awful and that woman and the pharmacist should be fired. I am all for giving credit where credit is due but sadly it is never Walgreens. I don't believe anything will happen but I thought that you should know. I understand it is hard to find staff. Perhaps if you paid them a descent salary you would attract people who really need a job and can handle everything that comes with the job. Sadly you lost a customer today and I will share my story with anyone who will listen. The behavior of this woman and the pharmacist on duty was appalling, rude and usually rudeness is a part of this culture at the pharmacy ongoing. Granted I was not right in any way acting like her but sometimes it is enough. I have had enough. The staff is rude. They are always short staffed and it seems grueling to work there. I hope that my story is eye opening or may be you don't care, I think the latter. I have transferred all of my prescriptions to a small local pharmacy who actually cares about their customers. I understand that there's a supply shortage and understand employees working under stressful situations. But, Walgreens has a major organizational problem. Their website and app is dysfunctional in every aspect. This is a horrible location; Only use it because I'm stuck with it. If they don't know when a prescription is in, they make it up. And on the day, my medication supposedly came in, they lie about time being filled. It's been 1 week and now over 3 hours since they said "it's in progress". Maybe if Walgreens paid a decent wage, they'd attract qualified applicants. read more

About 2 weeks ago I went to this Walgreens to get my Covid bivalent booster shot and flu shot at the same time. I didn't expect this experience to be so positive that I would write a 5-star review about it! The pharmacist technician, Salwa at the counter was friendly and nice to take care of the registration. Then, a real shout out to Heather, the nurse/technician who was to put the 2 shots in my arm. Heather was very professional and friendly, and made good suggestions in a non-pushy way. I didn't know that you can have 2 different shots on one arm at the same time, so, I was going to have one shot on each arm. She said that I could put both shots in one arm if I wanted as a lot of people do that, and asked me if I wanted 1 or 2 sore arms. So, this was a no brainer. Even though I had been to numerous flu shot appointments over the past 20 years, and been to many Covid shots as well, this was the only time that I felt that the nurse/technician really liked her job, was very clear with her instructions, took her time but was efficient at the same time, and did a great job. I usually bruised quite easily with shots, this time there's no bruising, so it's a big plus! The only thing is, each time you go to a pharmacy to get a shot, you never get the same nurse! If you call to make an appointment instead of booking online, it doesn't hurt to make an appointment with Heather for the injection! read more

I never have to wait the drive-through. It is so convenient. I think the negative reviews are because a lot of people in this area are very very high maintenance. They have pretty much whatever you want. And if your prescription is with North Shore health they are set up automatically with the hospital and your primary care physician. Even for my drugs that require in person prescriptions the wait is usually less than 15 minutes. I drive up drop off the script sit in the car for a few minutes and drive back around. Bow-tie there any extra charge for a miserable employee. Went into the Walgreens on Pfingsten Rd at Willow in Northbrooke, Il on Dec 5th. Was checked out by an older Indian gentleman. He was in no hurry to get to me-I was the only one in line and he fiddled with some boxes behind the counter before taking my item to being it up. He didn't acknowledge me or ever make I contact. I said "thank you" as he finished counting change- he said nothing. The woman who came up behind me to check out said "good morning" and he again said nothing. I dropped my prescription at 10 am and need it to go back to work So I told her I should be here by 5 pm no problem plenty of time! So I returned around 6 pm to get my prep medication and ready to take it all night for a procedure the next morning, well wasn't ready Soni wait for another hour at at 7 pm I am told can you call your doctor because we need an approval at a similar medication but we need your doctor's approval So finally one of the doctors called back and approved the other medication, my question is why they waited until I arrived to fill the medication and them realized that was not the same, so here I am waiting fornthe farmacist to come back from dinner so she can fill finally the prescription and is now 8:15 pm By far the must unorganized pharmacy ever visit, and from now on I will stay away from Walgreens! Horrible service. Two examples. First, I had to wait over 5 minutes to pick up a filled prescription. I was the ONLY person in line. I stood there and stood there as I watched employees sauntering around. One spent forever prattling on the phone to a customer. They need to be trained how to handle lonely customers who just want someone to talk to. Second example. I placed an order to refill my prescription. They said it would be ready the following day. I even got an automated call saying it was ready. Then another automated call saying there was a problem but they were working to resolve it. After two days I called to find out the status. It was out of stock and no one had bothered to reorder it. The pharmacist proudly told me she was reordering it as we spoke. Huh? Two days and no one had reordered? She had no explanation whatsoever. She suggested I go to Deerfield. The Northbrook store is terrible. I would never go there except for the fact it is the closest pharmacy. Contrary to another reviewer's opinion, understaffing does not account for failing to reorder an out-of-stock medication that a customer is waiting on. Just had one of the greatest experiences I've ever had at this pharmacy, or any other for that matter. While reviewing my prescriptions, my pharmacist alerted me to a manufacturer's coupon, saving more than a hundred dollars. Its rare these days for people to go out of their way or go beyond the minimum expected of them. When they do, it makes a big impression. For customer service, this is the worst Walgreens I have been to. The guy at the register didn't say "Hi" or "Thank you." He only said "Next!" after each customer without cracking a smile. Maybe I'm old fashioned but when I give my business to someone, I expect at least a smile and a friendly face. Just want to return some medicine got it few days ago, the first one took him more than 15 minutes and don't know how to do a return so I went to the pharmacy made the return and got it trouble and said I could not make return, what??!!!! So the manager came over and did it and took it but i Had two and other one I can't return it!! When I got this no one tell me anything I can not return at all!! I didn't even open the item yet!! Even store credit !! It took them more than 30 minutes! I still cAn not return the second one!! Very upset! read more

I used the Walgreens to look up an item and the app said this Walgreens had "4 in stock". I walk in, I see there's zero items on the shelf and I say to an employee "ma'am, on the Walgreens app it says you have 4 in stock of this item" she responds "we haven't taken inventory in OVER A YEAR, the app is not correct" which is extremely irritating. I specifically drove to this Walgreens because of the item being "in stock" and it's not in stock and they haven't taken inventory in over 1 year. So if you use the Walgreens app to check items in stock, it's a complete sh*tshow and not correct in any way. Very disappointed! read more

This Walgreens's is unhelpful, wanting you to do everything possible, to get YOUR prescription filled. They expect you to call the doctor, when they could get the answers THEY need directly. I am looking for an alternative with the help of my insurance company. Totally dissatisfied. read more

Their Pharmacy sucks. They cannot coordinate prescriptions accordingly. Status: Rx is ready for pick up. 1 tablet is available. Wait 5 days for the other 29 tabs. Note says your Rx is qualified for 60-90 day supply. Hmm, interested. Let's do that. Wait for 10 minutes just to find out no you're not qualified for that. Then don't write it on my Rx so you don't confuse your staff. There is only one friendly staff in the pharmacy department. Good luck when you go there, just hope he's working on that shift. Refill Rx 8 days later cannot verify status of order. I just have no choice because WG is my in-network pharmacy. The other pharmacy will extend their service calling you (person-to-person talk) and update/coordinate wit your Rx status. read more

This is the worst pharmacy that I have ever used. I have sent my husband in twice in the last week. Each time my app alerted me that I had prescriptions to pick up... and each time they left ready medications out. Each time he was there they told him that I only had one pick up, when In fact I had 3. I've gone back twice for additional prescriptions. So frustrating!!!! read more

This Walgreen's has the worst customer service I can imagine. There is always a long wait, they can't find prescriptions in their bins, trying to speak to a rep is almost impossible and speaking to the pharmacist is completely impossible. They only reason they're still in business is lack of competition anywhere nearby. I'm never going back there, Costco is so much better. read more

First I would like to say I feel sorry for the people that work at the Walgreens pharmacy in Northbrook. They seem like nice people even after you have lost your mind because you have had to call or come over 5 to 7 times each time you submit a new medication and usually at least 2 or 3 times on refills. They always have some reason why nothing has been done and they will get right on it at least until you hang up. Then they go into a black hole and remain there until you call again. It is no wonder they are so busy because for every prescription they have to talk to you multiple times. It is really sad because it is the only close Walgreens. Maybe someday my dream will come true and you will drop off a prescription and they will actually fill it! I know hope is not a strategy but I can dream can't I? read more

I can't remember ever receiving good service at the pharmacy but today's experiment put me over the edge. I went there to pick up a prescription my sick infant daughter. The drive through was closed so we parked and went in. After waiting in line for a bit we finally make it to the counter. When I said whom I was picking up the prescription for the pharmacist looked at me dumbfounded. He kept asking me to spell my last name and then eventually went in the back. We he came back up he told me they hadn't gotten to it yet and it would be 20 minutes. I wasn't about to wait at Walgreens for 20 minutes with my sick child so I took her. I got caught up doing chores for about an hour and then ran back out to Walgreens to pick up the Rx while my husband put our daughter down for a nap. I got to Walgreens, waited in a very long line , and then when I get to the counter and tell them the name I'm informed that it STILL hasn't been filled and I would need to wait. I explained that my daughter was very ill and needed her antibiotics. The woman replied with a very unapologetic "I understand but you have to wait". Their customer service is awful and I'm still furious that it took me two trips to get the prescription that I ended up watching them fill in front of me the second trip. Do not go to this pharmacy if you're sick and, especially if you're on new meds. I have had the same prescription filled incorrectly 5 times in a row. This last one took 5 calls and three visits and it was still incorrect. When my husband had a heart attack, they missed filling two scripts and incorrectly filled another. I don't know if they're sniffing the meds or what, but please, for your own safety, go somewhere else. read more

Terrible pharmacy experience. There was one pharmacist working and 6 customers in line waiting to pick up prescriptions, including myself. Pharmacist sees the line and proceeds to ring up 3 bags of groceries and discuss coupons for the woman at the front of the line while everyone else waits to pick up their prescription. I was only coming to the store to get a prescription filled and shouldn't have to wait in a pharmacy line that is spending time ringing up groceries. The woman should have been asked to get her prescription and then take her groceries to the regular cash register for payment. Complained to the store manager and he didn't seem to care. Goal should be to get sick people in and out of the store as soon as possible (I am 4 days post a flu diagnosis and likely not contagious), especially during flu season. Called corporate Walgreens and gave them feedback too...hard to believe this store is 20 minutes from headquarters. Take your prescriptions elsewhere. I will certainly be doing so. read more

The Pharmacy Drive Thru is a joke. It is obvious that if there are customers in the store, the drive thru customers get to wait. Today I was ignored for 15 minutes before I gave up and went inside. The line inside had 5 people in front of me and I was do win 5 minutes. Why would they not suggest you come in when they are busy? I guess when you are the biggest pharmacy around customer service be damned. Now I'll have to take my business to some place that cares about its customers. read more
