I was with a locally owned pharmacy for over 30 years, the pharmacist retired and a new one came in and he was not efficient at all. So glad I picked Mike's Pharmacy and I'm sticking with them. I have never felt any kind of pressure or discomfort here as a customer. The service here is top notch: the staff knows everyone by first name, they're incredibly courteous and conscientious, and if they can't fill a prescription for you they will work diligently to find a pharmacy close by who can. They also understand that insurance can be tricky and the cost of maintaining health in America presents its own challenges, so while they can't dictate the cost of medications, they try to make it as easy and as painfree as humanly possible to get what you need. They also have a solid selection of other things you might need in a pinch and are super knowledgeable about the pros and cons between different brands / products. Not to mention they also have little things like a section dedicated to the community featuring books from local authors. I respect that a lot. When people talk about the benefits of choosing smaller local businesses over bigger companies, I immediately think of places like this little pharmacy. My experience here is that they really care about their backyard and those of us who live here.

Everyone has their bad days, but the pharmacist and the pharmacy tech's at this location are horrible every time. They will leave you standing at the counter for over ten minutes and look right at you several times, and not even acknowledge that you are standing there. They will talk about other clients and bad mouth them as they are filling prescriptions while they are not waiting on you (no wonder "blank" gave them attitude is all I can think). I watched a lady answer the phone six times while I was there today, and did not even tell me "hello" or "I will be right with you" nothing, it was just like I was invisible. Finally when I was checked out the guy just walked up to the counter and said nothing like I was pestering him. I told him my name. He told he the total. I signed. I left. Never once did he apologize for my wait for or for any inconveniences. Today I waited ten minutes for them to take the prescription from my hand, thirty-five minutes for it to be filled, and other fifth-teen minutes for someone to acknowledge me so I could pay. This is not the first this has happened to me it. I shop there frequently for my groceries, and it happens to other people as well, all the time. It is not just one employee in the pharmacy, but all employees in the pharmacy.

There was another customer and a pharmacist nearby who could hear the whole conversation. This is in violation of HIPAA privacy laws which she must have been aware of. I ended up paying full price for my prescription because it was easier and faster than dealing with her and I didn't want to have this conversation with so many people listening. After I got home I spoke to a friend about the experience and they said that she had done the same thing to them. I can only hope the pharmacy manager reads this and speaks to her about following proper pharmacy procedures and keeping patient information private.

Today I stopped in to Giant Pharmacy for a flu shot. They were not at all nice about it, and that surprised me, because I've gotten prescriptions filled there in the past and they are usually competent and courteous. I ended up waiting about 40 minutes for the shot and I felt that it was very much a problem for them. So, if you want to get your flu shot at Giant, be sure to go early in the day and hope for the best. They obviously do not have the staff to provide this service, even though they advertise it aggressively. Next year I will get my shot elsewhere or not at all.

At 12 noon EST, I called my pharmacist who is PST: I explained I inadvertently left a prescription at home. She then called Dr. Ram and I drove the couple of blocks to pick up my prescription.
