This location is our go to. You wouldn't think one drug store would be different from another, but I can tell you they've outlasted nearby CVS and Rite-Aid locations and for good reason. This store is well stocked and has everything you need. I always pick up some candy while here. Sometimes ice cream. Today was Hershey's Kisses along with my toothpaste. I could not begin to list all the items we've purchased here over the 20 years we've shopped at this location. Friendly, helpful staff. We were greeted upon entering. Decent service but things are not done in a timely my manner at all. I left so stressed.. This location is pretty big with everything from pharmacy to snacks to makeup and even have some groceries. I came for paper sign printing. I had placed the order in the morning and my scheduled pickup is at 3:46pm. When I showed up at 4:10, it was not only not ready but they haven't even started yet. So the staff was super nice to start right away and told me I'll be 10mins. I waited and waited and progressively get stress because I have to head back to work at 5pm. Finally at 4:47 I got everything and barely make it back to work on time. The printing deal is pretty unmatched. But the stress is real. Budget more time in if you plan on printing photos and such. read more

This is easily the worst pharmacy I've ever dealt with. While the staff inside are generally friendly and seem to provide decent customer service in person, the overall experience has been extremely frustrating. I waited over an hour on the phone just to refill a prescription, and my wife had to try for several hours before finally getting through to someone. It's unfortunate, because I want to support hardworking people in this field, but when phone calls go unanswered and it takes days just to get a refill processed, it becomes clear that they're overwhelmed and unable to serve their customers efficiently. Being busy is one thing, but completely failing to manage the basics is another. I've decided to move my prescriptions to another pharmacy. I recently moved and had to change pharmacies. As it turned out, it was a blessing in disguise. The staff at Walgreens are patient and kind and have time to listen. Their system that will text me when I need a refill or when my prescription is actually ready is fabulous. I have found that it eliminates I needed visits. read more

Worst Walgreens I've ever been to. I didn't choose this pharmacy but rather the one near my house closed and they informed me that all my prescriptions had been transferred to the Arden-Eastern location. The worst customer service. Zero stars. On at least three if not four separate occasions and for multiple members of my household they have called AND texted that the prescriptions were ready for pick up. I traveled 25 minutes (each way), sat in a car line for 30+ minutes or in person for 45 minutes to only discover they did not in fact have my prescription ready. On multiple instances they'd filled old prescriptions instead of the updated one despite me asking them to remove the older one. I'm moving my prescriptions to another location or to CVS at this point. read more

Walgreens Pharmacy at Arden and Eastern- just had the worst experience by pharmacy technician employee "Martha" when trying to pick up my family members diagnosis dependent prescription they said was out of stock again. She was unprofessional and cruel. Telling me she didn't care and hung up on me. I have since transferred my prescriptions to avoid more verbal abuse. I have also filed a formal complaint. Quite possible the worst pharmacy I've ever encountered. I pick up my mom's prescriptions from this location. Today we were texted that her prescription was ready and when I arrived they told me they could give me half the prescription and could I wait 15 minutes to prepare it. It's not unusual for them to send a text and then the prescription not be ready. But for it to be not ready and only half of it is available??? WHAT?! I don't blame the workers, this has been a constant issue for the last year and I'm sure it's a corporate/management issue. However I am transferring her prescriptions to another pharmacy. This location (Arden/Eastern) has been my pharmacy for going on 30 years but it has become so difficult to get my prescriptions here that I'm finally giving up and finding a new way to get my prescriptions. Worst pharmacy EVER! I called my prescription in 3 days ago came to pick it up they told me "it'd be an hour" this was at 10am I left because I had a crying baby in the car came back to 7pm! Only for them to tell me "it's not ready" it was just under review and they just got the order. So now I'm waiting here STILL for them to fill the prescription. read more

Absolutely baffling how this place remains basically the only pharmacy in the area as others around us are closing. I used to go to the Bel Air pharmacy (across the street from here) and when Bel Air closed their pharmacy, I moved over to this pharmacy. It was so awful, I eventually moved again to the CVS next to the Safeway on Arden just west of Watt Avenue. That pharmacy was SO good! Always prompt; friendly, helpful staff. But then that location closed too, so I found myself back here at Walgreens because it is near. I mentioned it was bad before; it is worse now. Read the other 1-star reviews. I echo many of the sentiments expressed: * Staff are rude * You will wait a LONG time to get your Rx filled...if you think you want to wait onsite, we're talking hours (if you stand there waiting) to days * If you try to call in and talk to someone, you'll wait on hold FOREVER before being disconnected * If you want to use the drive thru, know that each car represents approximately a 15 minute wait time. So if there are 4 cars ahead of you, you'll be there for an hour * HIPAA violations are out of control here...when you are at the register to pick up and pay for your Rx, the pharm tech will ask you to verify your information, and because of the protective barrier at the counter, you have to speak loudly enough for them to hear you...and also anyone standing within a 10 foot radius of you (which always seems to be a lot of people waiting because this pharmacy SUCKS) I acknowledge that they need to staff up; there aren't enough employees. SO STAFF THE F*CK UP! You're basically the only pharmacy within a 2 mile radius in a highly populated (and affluent) area. WHY IS THIS SO HARD? The staff in the pharmacy are doing their best, but they seem to be getting no corporate support with additional staffing. I asked for a refill on a prescription 15 days ago - it wasn't filled till I showed up on day 13 and told them to fill it in person, only to go to pick it up the next day and the darn pharmacy was completely closed for the day due to "staffing shortages". I know things are rough with staff lately, but a pharmacy just randomly closed on a Tuesday? Not the best way to deal with the problem. Unless they were working behind closed doors to catch up on unfilled prescriptions I can't see how that will have helped one bit. I've transferred all my prescriptions elsewhere and have just this last refill which I cannot seem to be allowed to pick up. I feel bad for the pharmacy staff, this is not a reflection on them, I can see them working hard and doing what they can, but that business is allowed to continue to be conducted in this manner for months? WISH I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE A 0000000! This has to be the worst Walgreens I've ever came in contact with. From a patient and a providers office perspective. They are horrible at getting medication ready in a timely manner & then they bother you a million times when the medication is ready just for it to be put back on the shelf after "10 days" when it has not reached that time frame. I'm convinced they're just lazy at their job. The pharmacy is also bias and tries to give medical advice when he knows NO medical history about a patient. He tried to advise me to find something other than Lorazepam when my psychiatrist only prescribed me 4 tabs a month and it's only 0.5mg but he thinks he's a specialist I guess? Anyway. I will definitely not be coming back anymore because this place just sucks! The pharmacist is David Lim is a serious jerk. He doesn't know how to talk to his patients and he's a sarcastic a**hole. If you don't know how to speak with patients then you shouldn't speak regardless. He should really find a different pharmacy or have his L's revoked. read more

Long time shopper of this store and so it has been difficult to get to this point to write this review. I've had it. This pharmacy needs major help. More staff is needed - lines are always 3-4 cars deep and inside 3-4 people... If you or your kid needs Accutane - do not even think about getting from this store. Consistently an issue which then conflicts with ipledge and boom no meds when you need them. New year, new deductible to meet...called Walgreens to check on what was holding up prescription and was offered this month's dose of Accutane at $1600 - generic version $1500... No mention of coupons or how to get my kids medicine at a more appropriate cost. I asked the person how else I could get the cost down and they said "meet your deductible "...I sat there and seriously considered stopping my kids treatment plan - $1600/mo is too much! I googled and found GoodRX which brought the cost down to ~$400 (HUGE SAVINGS of $1200). I had to go into store to show the pharmacy the coupon to use it. These pharmacies know better and shouldn't offering up these savings be part of great customer service?! Instead I sit and wait for my RX to be filled and listen to angry customer after customer step up to the window. The staff needs education on these savings tools and soft skills- how to communicate and empathize with customers. People will wait in line if they know you are doing all you can to be of service to them and their advocate. Until then, I'm checking out a move to Costco pharmacy... read more

Yes many businesses are doing their best during Covid but when you have somebody with Covid trying to find out the status of their antiviral on hold for a total of 57 minutes only to pick up, ask them to hold, put them back on hold then pick up and hang up immediately, is entirely unacceptable. I'm also trying to find out how to pick the medicine up without coming into the store with Covid. This is absolutely ridiculous and I don't know what happened to the store -- it used to be so good. The acquisition of save mart's pharmacy book by Walgreens Explains a lot. How about staffing up to handle it?? Suggestions: Triage the phone. Get more pharmacists and technicians. Staffing shortages or not, you need to get better at filling prescriptions. Ssri withdrawals are awful. People mental health is essentially in your hands. Have a little care. I called and waited 45 minutes on hold regarding another rx that I must inject weekly, and I was told it would be orde re d after 2 weeks of it sitting in a que.... told itnwould be there by the next day.... 4 days later it's not even ordered. I called back and they said they couldn't get it and that no pharmacies local to me had it. I looked online and found one and had my dr transfer the rx, and I got it the same day. Attempted to get 1 generic scrip filled. Patient for 45 min another 15 min processing the pharm tech finally stated he couldn't fill scrip and didn't clarify if prior approval was required. the 2 customers before me the experience was a fiasco for them as well. I don't know if Walgreen's is using antiquated software but it appears that there are numerous issues with this company. the store was a dump but that is part of CA charm. read more

The pharmacy is a nightmare; do yourself a favor and find a new one. They don't fill prescriptions unless you physically show up and tell them to fill it. Then you still have a 45 min wait minimum. My daughter had a prescription called in on a Thursday afternoon. I showed up on Monday to pick it up (received zero notifications) and it still had not been FILLED! HORRIBLE. Do NOT use this pharmacy! It's ridiculously understaffed. I called twice this week and was put on hold, both times, upwards of 45 minutes. When a woman finally answered, she sounded completely irritated. I also tried picking up my medications in the drive-thru on two separate occasions this week. The first time, I was in line for over 30 minutes and finally had to leave. Other cars did the same. The second time, I made it to the front window, where I was completely ignored by staff after waiting in the car line 45 minutes. They walked near the window to retrieve paperwork, left the area to administer shots and helped people at the counter. Never once did they address me. How about, "Thank you for your patience," at the very least? Not only are they understaffed, which is not the pharmacy staff's fault, but they are extremely rude. read more

We've been using this pharmacy for 30 years, many times we've almost left for varied valid reasons & new staff comes along & service is great again & we forget the issues...No longer. Unfortunately, today, for the third time in a month, a newer pharmacist who won't share his name AND has hung up me twice, incorrectly processed my order requiring me, for the third time this month, to go without 4 doses of medication in a 24 hour period. I understand times in our world are tough & give muck slack. Other pharmacy staff have even tried to cover for him with apologies & once even a handwritten note. Withholding medication for 24 hours might sound like nothing, but actually many medications are life sustaining. Tell a Type 1 Diabetic who needs insulin to wait 24 hours for insulin or pay $1000 cash instead of correctly billing insurance. We've had this happen as well- to our child. It Was only remedied when my husband said they would have to call the police to get him to leave the pharmacy without my daughter's insulin. One call to our insurance company, that we had been begging for them to make was all it took to clarify their issue..... In fact that night they told us just to go to the emergency room if something happened to our 12-year-old daughter without insulin. I know inventory issues and an occasional rude pharmacist or tech will happen. Mistakes happen. I get that. This pharmacist talks down to me like I don't understand pharmacology & drug administration. I'm not sure if it's because I am disabled & people in wheelchairs aren't competent? Or if it because my daughter & husband that go to pick up medications are black? I've been an RN for over 30 years, I understand medication usage very well. I'm sorry to go on and on. I have wasted hundreds of hours over the years dealing with mistakes from this pharmacy. The convenience & mostly pleasant staff kept us there. AND the inconvenience of transferring dozens of medications. Most staff are friendly and even call us by name. Our family brings thousands & thousands of dollars to the pharmacy every single month (unfortunately). I have made phone calls & written letters in the past. 3 of our physicians have had extensive arguments with pharmacists. If you make a mistake, apologize. If a customer questions your information or calculation, don't automatically shut them down - LISTEN TO THEM. Communication issues are the number one reason for medical errors in the USA. It may seem unfair to give one star when there are decent staff members who are very caring at the pharmacy. My issue is that incompetence and rudeness is tolerated by any staff member on a regular basis. I understand, working in a hospital for four full-time for over 30 years in the hospital that big pharm has lots of power and lots of pull and sometimes it feels like they can do whatever they & our insurance companies want to do to us, and I am sick and tired of it at my neighborhood pharmacy. read more

The Walgreens pharmacy located at 4200 Arden Way is absolutely without value. I just waited on the phone for 40 plus minutes to talk to a pharmacist, because i was not allowed to use the automated system to refill a long standing prescription. After 40 minutes of dismal wait music I arose to first in line. This allowed me to listen to the pharmacy phone line ringing for 3 more minutes with no one bothering to pick up the line for the first in cue. After 3 minutes of unattended ringing, someone in the pharmacy made a command decision and rung up on my call, before it answered. 43 minutes....no response, ending in a hang up! My previous interactions have been waiting in the drive-thru line for more than 30 minutes because no one serviced the line. I am done. The location is close and it does not balance the abusive service. read more
