What a joke. What type of urgent care doesn't do blood work? Basically only go here if you know you have the flu or Covid.

I have never had a bad visit with urgent care. Robert Carte is very thorough. Glad I went today and got checked.

Unimpressed. Woke…read moreup sick, went to this location even though it was farther away, because it is part of my health system. Didn't make an appointment beforehand because honestly, I wasn't sure how long it would take me to get there or what shape I would be in or if I'd have to have my wife drive me. Made it, walked in, and was immediately put off. They make you check in standing up at a kiosk. They make sick people stand up and go through a bunch of screens on a kiosk. I am already in their system, and still their information was not up-to-date. And then when I went to search for my doctor, he was not in the system, even though he is indeed in the system. And, the wait for a walk-in was 2 to 3 hours out. Look, staff were great: the one person, who showed up partway in and realized I was frustrated with the screen. Nobody else in the kiosk lobby. I called my doctor, who was out that day but they were able to schedule me at another urgent care sooner than I would've gotten in at this place. I'm pretty happy with OhioHealth in general. I am not happy with this location.

I began having heart issues in May of 2021 and after seeing my family physician and undergoing…read moretesting, was diagnosed with both PVC and SVT. Two years and several medications later.....not to mention three ER trips and quite a few doctors visits.....my physician referred my case to Dr. Reinig. The first appointment I went to I was full of anxiety. Let me backtrack.....I'm a cleithrophobic. If you aren't familiar, it's not a great phobia to have for closed door office visits and future unknown places and procedures. Spending the first visit just trying to make it through my panic attack....I unfortunately heard nothing Dr. Reinig had to say. Not his fault....totally mine! I should have spoken up and didn't. A few days later I called back in to his office and explained what had happened and they set me up for another appointment with no issue at all. After my 2nd appointment that I went into armed with all my uncertainties and questions, Dr. Reinig was understanding and compassionate and answered all my questions. I felt comfortable enough to schedule the heart ablation to control/fix my heart issue as the medicines just weren't working for my specific problem (due to being asthmatic I could only take up to a certain milligram and it wasn't enough to control my SVT).  For part two of my story...it was decided that Dr. Hattoum would be performing my ablation. I was again nervous, because I had not met Dr. Hattoum. Restart anxiety. Upon leaving I immediately began researching him. I ran across his statement on one site that read: "I want to give my patients a safe, comfortable place to treat and manage all heart rhythm issues using the most advanced methods, and most importantly, a you-centered focus."- Alexander Hattoum, MD I thought to myself, no way will my anxiety needs be met and no way will I be the focus. My heart will be (which is awesome and obviously the reason I'll be there) so that will just have to be enough. I have to get through this, I have to get this done.  I called the office for the third time and asked if I could get an appointment with Dr. Hattoum so I could meet him and talk about my phobia issue and how we could manage it on the day of so I could follow through. I didn't want to waste his time or mine on the day of. I was met with listening ears, compassion, understanding and honestly just a down to earth cardiologist who took more than enough time to explain everything that would happen on the day of and how we would manage it and most importantly if I couldn't follow through, we wouldn't and would continue trying additional medications (that I already felt likely wouldnt work because I had been on several during the course of two years). It was truly a "me centered focus".  Arriving at Fairfield Medical, from the moment I walked in, pre op, op and post op, I was so incredibly cared for. Every single person! For me not to feel anxious is virtually impossible, and I didn't (not abnormally anyway!). I never once felt like I was just a number on the list that day. I felt seen, heard and understood and the care I received from Dr. Hattoum and his team that day will forever be appreciated and I will forever be grateful. Thank you FMC for having an amazing team of cardiologists and supporting team!

I scheduled an appointment here to have what…read moreappeared to be a small, about dime size, red, fevered, inflamed and painful bump on my forearm. When I arrived for my scheduled appointment, I signed in and waited to be called. I didn't wait long and they called my name and I was expecting to be taken back to a room to await the physician but the nurse stopped me just inside the door to inform me that the physician on duty had asked them to inform me that he would not be seeing me and I, would infact, need to go to the main hospitals ER admitting and be seen by them instead. I wasn't given a reason why I was being asked to go there instead and I wasn't permitted to talk with the physician on staff either, I asked to do so actually but was directed to go to The Ohio Health, O'bleness Hospital ER, in Athens Ohio, located directly behind the Urgent Care i was currently at, if I needed medical assistance and treatment. and the door was shut in my face. And it was clearly based upon discriminatory assumptions in regards to what was probably red flagged due to my honest admissions of being a recovering IV addict (sober since 2017) currently prescribed Suboxone by another physician within my MyChart information. Nursing staff and physicians have access to all that information regarding any patient receiving some kind of primary care or another through an Ohio Health owned and operated medical facility and due to the assumptions of the clearly biased and unprofessional physician on staff at my time of appointment. So instead of going behind me to the ER, I went to the Holzer Clinic Urgent Care on East State Street in Athens, Ohio (15 minutes away) and was seen quickly, professionally, knowledgeably and without any prejudice or assumptions being made. For the record, it was an infected spider bite, they informed me that spider bites are known to sometimes cause staphylococcus infections, which was my case. They lanced the infection sac under the skin by making a centimeter incision, flushing it with saline and packing with medicated packing material, put a bandaid over it, gave me a script for antibiotics and told me if I had any further problems with it to please come back for assistance. They did cultures of the pus from the wound and were able to determine possible probable causes as well as to check that the appropriate antibiotics were given. And they were, infact, also aware that I was a recovering addict because I confirmed it when asked about whether I still took Suboxone or not in triage and all was known prior to being seen by a doctor so there was definitely time for them to decide I should instead go to my the local ER like Ohio Health's Urgent Care physician told me I had to do. So what would have been another uncomfortable and excessively drawn out ER visit was thankfully averted. Thank goodness for Holzer Clinic, Athens, Urgent Care!!! I wouldn't take my son's imaginary friend to Ohio Health, O'bleness Memorial Hospital ER, Athens OH, if they paid me!!! They've lost all respect from me and should be ashamed they employ such physicians engaging in these behaviors and hope they look into events such as these! Addiction is a disease, one I'm recovering from and it's doctors and prejudices such as this that continue to misinform and allow an escalation in the discrimination for those in recovery or those seeking help for recovery. This is exactly why WE "lie" or bend truths about our use in our pasts, the present and quite possibly why someone may be to afraid to ask for help in the future... Red Flag labels matter people! Time to wise up... Proud of ALL my freak flags, even the red ones!! Make your voice heard!!
