My husband has been an attorney since 1975. He has been an Assist. DA in Brooklyn, an SEC…read moreinvestigator for the NYC office, a senior litigator for one of the largest Wall Street firms and then general counsel at a regional securities firm years ago. So we are very careful where we seek legal advice and go professional contact/ referrals all the way . I am very very lucky to have this. We were introduced to Bill Michelson JUST as my husband was recovering from 5 major huge surgeries . My husband had been so ill that we had almost zero income the entire 13 months of his non stop major operations. Mn even gave us food stamps fuel assistance that year! Huge blessing to have received! ( thank God he is fine now). He also lost his mom and brother in the middle of all this and was on strictly monitored major pain killers for 9 of those months. So my husband was "not totally mentally cognizant " in monitoring detailed projects during this time ( 5 rounds of anesthesia " stay in your system a good 12 months" said his back fusion/ diskectomy surgeon. SO... We were a very vulnerable scared couple when we walked in. ( almost all our bills were up to date-- he told us to stop paying everyone that first meeting ) First, Bill was a total stranger to us. My husband has never met him before, and we paid him fairly honestly like all clients He put us IMMEDIATELY at ease and gave us MASSIVE relief when he said that first meeting ," don't worry.... Your terrible physical and economic situation totally understandable after all these surgeries places you in a good situation... I can definitely talk to all your creditors, explain your dire situation today... And there is a good chance we can not only get them to work with us favorably , but I am confident I can get them to cooperate with us And have them lower your debt as well ." I have these as notes from my meeting . You have NO idea the massive waves of relief that rushed through us after hearing those words . So we automatically trusted him 100 % on the spot primarily from the referral and from his wonderous words . Why wouldn't we ??!! I immediately started the 2 years of repairing painting the house then finally packing and moving in December 2015. I left all the legal " mumbo-jumbo" to my husband. 18 months later when our house would not sell and it became upside down/ short sale , Bill found us an excellent realtor of short sales and was our closing attorney as well! We met with him a few times but worked primarily via phone (note: every minute on the phone the attorney's $ meter is ticking) I believe we paid him $10,000+ approx ( I found all bill's letters in my husbands desk... Unopened. Bill would call him tell him what we owed, Jon would pay.) Late August September 2015 we met with Bill. He said," I did not work on your debt overall... I did not want to do anything negative to your credit that would adversely affect the sale of your house (accepted an offer late October 2015)." I just listened nodded had no idea in general what was going on-- I had been feverishly packing . ... But we met with him a GOOD year before putting the house on the market......why didn't you call our creditors asap? We were up to date on many, not all. He DID work on just one debt (Winter 2016) with one creditor (they had filed a formal law suit against us) and negotiated them down 1/4-1/3. We met this spring 2016 and I mentioned to him that we were thinking of meeting with Lutheran Family Svces for in-depth financial guidance. He IMMEDIATELY was agitated excited raised his voice ( 1st time ever ) and said, " don't do that! You don't need them you have me." To make a long story short: we DID go to Lutheran Family Svces on Park ave in Minneapolis and got OUTSTANDING advice!!! We also learned from them that Bill had DONE ZERO... that ALL our DEBT was now 100 % charged out!! Zero negotiations zero reduction of debt. Zero promises . We were in TOTAL shock...... This has put us in very grave circumstances. And Lutheran Family Svces could do nothing to help nor save us... Toooo late...... I did indeed call him about a week later, late at night. and left a message stating that Lutheran Family Services offers outstanding assistance-- exactly the kind of guidance I had been fiercely looking for five years.... that they were NO threat to his work for our amt of debt was too high. I did end by saying honestly that he should have guided us to them years ago, for they could have greatly helped us....AND I let him know I was VERY very angry. He IMMEDIATELY dropped us. Lutheran Family Services is the BEST place to start. Go call make an appointment WAY before you get behind in your bills. They are a non-profit organization that has helped Minnesota individuals and families for years and years... for free. We shall survive, but avoid offers of " loan consolidation"!!!

Everything happened exactly the way they said it would and I was shocked at how little effort it required from me. When those Process and procedures are clicking on all cylinders it is awesome. Then we either failed to follow the successful ones we put in place or added ones that made us fail. If you have called a lot of attorneys to go through the hell of bankruptcy as I have, and you have not got to the point of having an appointment. Because even though they promise an easy time of it and that they will not make you feel like you live under a rock now, they have not made you feel better than that and/or made it difficult in some way that it never leads to an appointment. Start to finish, if you call Kain and Scott, you will never feel they have their act together and care about you. Doing business with Kain and Scott you will see a company that has all their processes and procedures in place and it will inspire you again. It will benefit you. I called the Maple Grove office. Haley, who time and again after this day would provide quick direction to the person I needed to talk to, set me up with an initial conversation with Kelsey Quarberg, an attorney in that office who is now in their Eden Prairie office, set me up with a initial appointment. At that appointment Kelsey was so cool and not condescending as some attorneys can be. There was an hour or more of questions. She laid out everything that would happen. Every process and procedure for everything you will go through. Links to their awesome website that had resources for everything you might need. After that day I was assigned an aide in the office, Brittany Milless, who always seemed to be available. Her days off. Holidays. Even if you sent her an email and did not expect a response for a few days, it seemed you would get one almost every time immediately. I am a bit unorganized and there was a lot of emails. The discharge date comes quicker than you think it will. At that point I was assigned Gina Strait who will now work my credit to get the credit score up. It has been amazing. "Process and procedures" might mean something else to you, or nothing to you. But if you see them in every organization that you look at as I do, and enjoy seeing successful ones in organizations........you will see them in place from start to finish with your bankruptcy journey at Kain and Scott.

I expressed what I wanted through divorce agreement and he wrote up several different letters to give to my ex's lawyer where he didn't even address giant issues like splitting equity. He acted confused with what my needs/wants were despite me verbally telling him and writing him organized emails explaining what I needed/wanted in my divorce. With all his editing of emails after telling him he left out very important key issues, he fell off the face of the planet and never answered my questions and instead sent me an invoice which charged me for his own obvious neglect and errors in his writing. He over charged with his own mistakes and I have to pay for my time, my money, and my peace of mind. I even had a deadline I had to make and he completely disregarded it. Absolutely avoid Jean Paul Augustin if you want any professional support or communication. I hired another lawyer who was excellent, communicative and professional. The difference has been night and day. Avoid Jean Paul, you will regret hiring him like I did and do. Thank god I figured this out before it was too late and I could have been screwed in a court setting with him. Absolutely terrible lawyer.

They will drag your case telling you to take it to trial up until the week prior and tell you to settle or they will drop you as a client. They will also use everything you tell them against you and threaten you sign a deal that they've been advicing against just so they don't go to trial. They did absolutely nothing in the 1 year they dragged the case but bill the $15k! It ended up where it started. There are 4 other women who have all experienced the same problem and will be taking it to the mn attorney general.

I can only speak of Patrick Boyle in superlatives…read more No attorney in the Minneapolis, MN area has greater depth, experience, and practical wisdom in the areas of Bankruptcy, Foreclosure and Loan Modification. Insofar as such a thing can even be contemplated, based on my first-hand experience as a client I consider him THE industry standard to which all others are compared in the world of postponement of sheriff sale, foreclosure mitigation and home retention. Technically an expert, he is also uncommonly practical and responsive. These are traits that no doubt finds great receptivity from a diverse group of clients who consult him in their time of legal need. Patrick possesses the ability to take extremely complicated, intricate, intimidating and confusing legal aspects and break them down into simple, straight forward language without ever making the client feel foolish or as if they are being spoken down to. The level-headed, direct and no nonsense approach that he takes, his timely communication and attention to detail make Patrick Boyle the attorney whom I turned to in my time of need and now recommend whenever given the chance to others facing legal needs. There is simply no better Minnesota attorney to advise across all of these matters, or who has the range of experience, thought, reason and polish.
