I retreat to Bridgeport. As I sit here watching the sun kiss the top of breeze curled waves with the wind at my face and my troubles behind me I think of how simple happiness can be. I truly wish I could be here forever. Bridgeport holds a special place in my heart, showing me stars like i'd never seen before or since, cradling me in a hidden oasis of peace and traquility. My cat is in love with Bridgeport as well. She was even brave enough to go out on one of the rented Kayaks, a mere $15 for 2 hours. Crusing the glass like reflection of the snow topped sierras for the price of a hipster's latte, priceless. 4 days went by in a flash, but the memories will always remain cemented, etched into a safe place in my mind labeled, "Break Glass in case of Emergency." The camp sites are clean, cheap and roomy, the bathroom decent enough, and the views are stunning. It's a place where in the company of the waters symphony against the shore all of life's answers come easy. Not the first time and certainly not the last that I will visit my favorite place, Bridgeport.

I loved the campsite I was in and it was close to the restrooms where they had showers!! What a luxury. The owner Chase and his grandmother were so sweet and accommodating. It's a pretty affordable spot compared to all the other places in the area. I found out that the bugs weren't even mosquitos either. I had zero bug bites and let me tell you I am a mosquito magnet. Overall I love this place and it will definitely be a staple in our families summer spots. Thank you to the friendly staff for such a great experience!

As soon as we parked, we were greeted by the friendly "grandpa" who welcomed us in. Once inside, a younger gentleman got us started and did an excellent job explaining everything in detail, answering questions, and making sure everyone felt comfortable before we began. The setup is fantastic. Your rod, bait, and bucket are all provided, and the facility is clean and well maintained. Fish are priced by the length of your catch, and there is no catch-and-release. They even have a smaller pond with larger fish if you're looking for more of a challenge. The fish were biting! In just about two hours, our group caught 10 fish. There are picnic tables, benches, and a hand-washing sink, making it easy to relax and clean up afterward. When you're done fishing, they offer several processing options at very reasonable prices. For just $2 per fish, they'll clean it, and they also offer filleting, vacuum sealing, and even fun photo opportunities with your catch. The customer service throughout the entire experience was outstanding. A couple tips: there's very little shade, so definitely bring sunscreen, and the mosquitoes can be active, so bug spray is a good idea. If you're visiting South Lake Tahoe, this is an absolute must-do activity for families, couples, or groups of friends. The staff genuinely made the experience memorable. And don't forget to tip--they absolutely deserve it! You can leave cash or simply add it to your credit card transaction.

The one closest to the entrance opens exactly at 10am. The other one seems like its always open. They have everything you need to fish for trout. They supply the rod, bait (worms and salmon eggs) bucket, nets, a metal rod to hit the fish on the head, and a hook release tool that helps take the hook out of the fishes mouth. They give you instructions on how to safely handle the fish. We arrived at 10, and we started to get a little frustrated when we realized it was past 11am and we had no fish yet. We just needed to figure out the technique. We finally ended up taking out the worm bait and casting it back out rather than letting it sit. That seems to attract the trout better. Once we figured it out, we caught 3 big fish by 1230. We had our 3yr old and 11mo old with us. We brought our kids wagon to push them around in. Our 3yr old had so much fun. There are 2 separate ponds. One has smaller trout, the other has large trout. If you don't mind going all out and you dont have a limit on spending, its worth fishing on the larger fish side. We caught 3 fish and the total came out to $211. But we knew it would be expensive, dont let that scare you. If you don't want to spend that much, just fish on the small fish side. At the end, they only charge you for the size of each fish, and $10 for the bucket of items. They also clean the fish for you and put them on a stick so you can take a family photo together. They will also offer to put the fish on ice in a bag. We took our fish to McDuffs afterwards. They tell you theres a minimum wait of 2hrs, but they ended up getting us in within 30mns. Great place to eat! We'll be coming back here to fish again for sure! We're already talking about coming back next weekend.

At first the long list of rules and the $8 fee per person may be a bit off putting, but once you get there you'll understand the benefits that come from them. The beach is incredibly clean and large enough to accommodate quite a few families and there is ample parking. There are large trees shading benches along a well kept concrete path, all perfect for resting your belongings on less busy days. The trees also cast shade a good distance onto the beach, so you have some options for shade. I would still say a good umbrella is recommended, as the shade could fill up. The water feels cool when you get in but once you're under it's really nice. The water and lake are also very clean, with a nice sandy bottom. If you go out a little further you may encounter some algae as it gets deeper, but all in all it's a fantastic lake to swim in. There are water slides, sunning platforms in the middle if you swim out that far, great space for paddle boards and kayaks, and even a diving board in the deepest part and granite beach next to it. After 6pm it's free to enter and you can fish along the dam too. They said it's stocked with trout but we didn't find any. We did catch some bluegill though!
