As the world becomes a constant place of unrest, there is a magical place you can go to, realignment of perfect balance of heart & soul. You can have the best of both worlds here at Leavitt.... horseback rides, coupled with backpacking. You don't need to travel any further to find the adventure of a lifetime, don't wait! Thank you Craig & Corbin! Hospitality plus .... and of course, Chitto

Spectacular. Every time I have been here over the years the staff is excellent and horses are magnificent. You won't regret a trip up here.

Leavitt Meadows + Staff were just awesome! We had an amazing time in a beautiful location with kind people. The place has a very laid back feeling, with sweet dogs running around. You pay a deposit either through Venmo or PayPal prior to showing up (which confirms your time) and fill out a waiver. We did the falls ride which I highly recommend. It's a two hour ride to the falls, and then two hours back. Fairly priced for the experience. The horses were beautiful and well trained, guides were not overbearing and were helpful and funny. We will definitely be back and will bring our friends! 10/10

Such a great time! My boyfriend and I went on a two hour ride with Bailey and Sam and had a blast. The trail was beautiful and Bailey was such a fun guide! Definitely recommend!

An early departure for a 6 hour ride to our destination.

My family and I have been going to Leavitt Meadows Pack Station for more than 40 years! Our group rides horses into a chosen lake, usually 15-20 miles into the mountains from the station, and then backpacks out over the next 6-7 days. I started doing this when I was 5 with my Dad and siblings. And now, 40 years later, I am still. Doing this trip with my brother, his wife and their 3 kids. The pack station is exactly how I remember from the first time I ever went there. We've even recreated a few pictures on the same loading dock that was there back then. Craig and his crew are great. The trail guides are usually younger horsemen and horsewomen and they really know they're stuff. We always feel safe on the horses and if we don't, they make sure we find a horse that better suits our experience and comfort level. The area is absolutely breathtaking too. I highly recommend taking a trip with the crew at the station or at least a day trip or trail ride. We love it and will be back until we cabtvride anymore...and then hopefully, our kids continue the tradition.

The employees are so sweet and helpful, i went in a group with 3 others and we all had so much fun!!! Our guide was named Craig and he made the ride super enjoyable. Throughout the whole ride he made conversation with us and told us about whatever we were seeing and was also very helpful if we needed any help with controlling the horses. The trail and the horses were beautiful and the pricing is definitely reasonable, will definitely be going back next year!!

Two hours out in nature on a horse with my family and the best trail guide = perfect fall day. Thank you, Craig! We enjoyed every minute.

One tip if you get to the main springs try not to go to the one on the right which is the bigger pool because it's more stagnant water and so there were a lot of these red looking worms or maggots swimming in there. The smaller pool on the left is much cleaner as there are two mini waterfalls that are keeping the water circulating and fresh. Anything less than five stars is an injustice so a glowing five stars and two thumbs up for Travertine Hot Springs!

Whether it's a crisp winter soak with snow on the ground, a calm spring sunrise, warm summer nights, or the quiet stillness of fall, this place always feels right. What makes it special isn't just the hot springs themselves, but the feeling of escape. At night, the sky opens up, endless stars, the Milky Way glowing above you, and if you're patient (or lucky), shooting stars cutting across the darkness. It's peaceful in a way that's hard to find anymore. This is my favorite place to unplug, reset and breathe. No noise, no rush, just nature doing what it does best. Respect the land, pack out what you bring in and soak it all in. If you're looking for a true Eastern Sierra experience raw, beautiful and unforgettable this is it.

You can park in the day use area if you're just doing a day hike but if you plan on doing backcountry camping, you'll need to pay them the $10 bucks to leave your car overnight. That $10 will buy you up to 7 days of parking. Follow the road between the maze of tents and motor homes until you reach the sign that marks the official beginning of the trail to Barney Lake. Take that trail roughly 4 miles up and you'll find it. It's simply gorgeous and an amazing view up there. From here, you can turn around and head back or continue up the trail to Robinson Lakes, Crown Lake, Snow Lake, and eventually, Yosemite National Park. The trail is very easy to follow and is mostly on an even level. There's switchbacks towards the end as you near the lake, but they're not bad incline wise. From car to lake and back to the car, it's just a hair over 9 miles. This is one of my favorite hikes in the area and I do it at least once or twice every season. Just please be respectful and leave no trace. Also, this area is known to be popular with Bears. I've personally never seen one here, but a lot of others have. That being said, you have nothing to be fearful of. If you do come across one, give it plenty of room and respect and you'll be fine and for god's sake DON'T FEED THEM! Or any wildlife for that matter. You have no idea how many moronic tourist I yell at for feeding squirrels and deer. Lol.

He is a self taught naturalist and gave us just the right mix of park history and insights into the floral and fauna. He also balanced our hiking so it was challenging enough to keep me interested but not to difficult that Thelma could not enjoy it as well. He was also terrific about assisting her through some of the more difficult and rocky sections so she was never uncomfortable. His planning was simply impeccable and more than worth every penny as we could never have enjoyed as much as we did on our own. There is just no substitute for having a professional guide a Dave was as professional as it gets. Simply cannot thank him enough and more highly recommend him to anyone who wants an extraordinary experience.

We did not stay in the campground here…read more I've been following Twin Lakes Resort on social media for sometime now due to the epic community and mountain culture they've cultivated here over the years. It's a place with real roots. Families make traditions of coming here and I can see why. Many of the lakes in the Sierra are hard to access due to limited development and parking, but Twin Lakes has struck the right balance offering opportunities for day trippers and campers the like. Coming up from the valley below the lakes, I never imagined there'd be quite the lively "town center" we came upon. The general store is clearly a central gathering place where fish stories are swapped and visitors can stock up on basics, grab a bite or a bloody marry, and snag all the local intel and tackle they'll need to catch a big one in the waters directly across the street. Unlike the other small stores I visited, the staff here was GOLD! They were incredibly friendly, full of info, engaging and welcoming too! Our kids got to participate in a scavenger hunt and after finishing it got to choose rad prizes. The merchandise in the store is also AMAZING! I decided I'd buy a hat or shirt after I get my first big trout out of the lakes. They also offer boat rentals at the marina with everything from kayaks and SUP to larger pontoon boats. We had hoped to rent a pontoon for the day but got there a bit later in the day and missed out. Apparently you can reserve online (I must've missed the link when looking) and the rates are super reasonable (less than $300 for the day on a pontoon for up to 8). It kind of worked out because the wind kicked up and that would've likely ended our day on the water, but I'd love to do a half day starting in the morning! This isn't a secret of any kind, but it's somewhere more folks from the Reno area need to explore.
