Meadowcliff lodge refused to give us a refund because it's a holiday weekend. They stated there's a 14 day cancellation policy, but according to their website it's only seven days requirement to cancel on a holiday weekend. My wife tried to cancel a couple days before I called but their employee Scott strong armed my wife over the phone and refused to help. So I called today 8/23/24 and reviewed their policy with him over the phone which he had to put me on hold several times to check his own policy. Anyway refund refused, he was annoyed with me and not only did he refuse to help he BANNED OUR FAMILY for future visits. So unprofessional. Families Beware. Being a lifelong local I'm very disappointed in the eastern Sierra community.

It's absolutely worth the short detour. Located approximately 20 mins from Yosemite's entrance at Tioga Pass. These golden groves are located just before the entrance to the campground. While I'm not much of a camper myself, I did stroll through the site to get a feel for it just incase I ever change and become a camper. It's serene, quiet, and beautifully nestled alongside Lee Vining Creek. The area is shaded by trees and offers amenities like restrooms and picnic tables. If camping is your thing, I recommend checking out their website for more details. Even if you're not into camping, catching the Aspens in their autumn glory should be on your list if you're in the area between late October and early November.

We arrived on a Friday afternoon without a reservation, and began to mildly panic one we learned most of the sites had already been taken. Luckily we came across some super friendly Aspen Campground regulars, who invited us to share their double site which just happened to be situated in a prime spot right next to the beautifully bustling river - SCORE! The Big draw to Aspen is hands down the fishing. It just so happened that right before we arrived the local hatchery dropped a load of fresh trouts, ready to be hooked! This was my first time fishing, and I was able to catch (and Cook) my very first fish! If you like to fish and you like to camp, going to Aspen is a no brainer. The trees are also large and plentiful, so if you come, don't forget to pack your hammock!

When we arrived, we were told the bears were very active, which in this area, they usually are. There are alot of signs informing the public they are in Bear Country and what to do if they come across one. There's also information on the proper way to store food, so the bears can't get to it. Unfortunately, we see the carelessness from campers all of the time. It's very frustrating, especially when you hear a bear and cub may be euthanized because they have gotten too comfortable approaching people at the campsites and could be a danger. This place is beautiful and the bears are a treasure. If you camp here, please be responsible! Aside that, we love this campground. Staff are always very pleasant and helpful.

The hike begins at Mono Village…read moreCampground which can be found by turning onto Twin Lakes road in Bridgeport and taking said road all the way to end, which is the Campground. You can park in the day use area if you're just doing a day hike but if you plan on doing backcountry camping, you'll need to pay them the $10 bucks to leave your car overnight. That $10 will buy you up to 7 days of parking. Follow the road between the maze of tents and motor homes until you reach the sign that marks the official beginning of the trail to Barney Lake. Take that trail roughly 4 miles up and you'll find it. It's simply gorgeous and an amazing view up there. From here, you can turn around and head back or continue up the trail to Robinson Lakes, Crown Lake, Snow Lake, and eventually, Yosemite National Park. The trail is very easy to follow and is mostly on an even level. There's switchbacks towards the end as you near the lake, but they're not bad incline wise. From car to lake and back to the car, it's just a hair over 9 miles. This is one of my favorite hikes in the area and I do it at least once or twice every season. Just please be respectful and leave no trace. Also, this area is known to be popular with Bears. I've personally never seen one here, but a lot of others have. That being said, you have nothing to be fearful of. If you do come across one, give it plenty of room and respect and you'll be fine and for god's sake DON'T FEED THEM! Or any wildlife for that matter. You have no idea how many moronic tourist I yell at for feeding squirrels and deer. Lol.

The camp hosts are incredibly friendly, helpful (jumped our car when it died), and really do a good job maintaining the grounds. The bathrooms and campsites were very clean!! I'm pretty sure there isn't a bad site in the whole campground! We were at site 37, it's very spacious, small view of the lake, and just a short walk to the beach entrance. If you're lucky enough to nab a spot, definitely take it! Enjoy every minute of it.

Ours was 39 feet long and could fit our camper van and another car. We also love this campground because it's set directly behind NV Beach which is a great place to picnic, swim, or even kayak. They offer kayak rentals in the summer. There's even a section of the beachfront that allows dogs. The only negative for this campground would be that there are no showers available. I guess there's always the lake though! ;)

This is the second time we have stayed at Silver Creek. It is a bit of a drive if going from the SF…read morebay Area but well worth the effort for the scenery, peace and quiet, and location. The sound of the Quaking Aspens at night in the strong breeze will lull just about anyone to sleep. The campground is close to Markleeville and Grover Hot Springs if you want to do some sightseeing in the area. Silver Creek is divided in the middle by the highway. Both sides have some really good sites to choose from. Some sites are held for those who want to risk the drive without reservations. There are only two pit toilets for the campground with one on each side of the road. There are plenty of water faucets and each site has a large bear box. For the adventurous there is a waterfall with a nice ledge to sit on and enjoy the view. Careful as the rocks are slippery. I won't tell you how to get to it because then it wouldn't be a surprise anymore. There is also a creek at the bottom of the campground and with a little effort you can find many spots along the waters edge where an afternoon could be whiled away doing some sunbathing and cooling off in some of the deeper pools.
