Too crowded. Boats are too loud. Jet skis make too much noise. Lake gets too much algae.

The loud motor boats were very disruptive, driving back-and-forth all day in front of the beach where little kids and people paddleboard. This place has gotten worse Each time I return. And I live close so I try and come here at least three or four times to camp a year. Some of these motor boats are unbelievably loud! read more

I've driven past Topaz Lake many, many times but never actually went down to the recreational area to get a closer look. Today, after having lunch at the Topaz Lodge, we decided that today's the day. It's $5 for day use and you can pay at the kiosks upon entering. You'll see a small parking lot to your left on the side of the building. The kiosks are located on the front deck. They had a surprisingly decent looking campground up front with plenty of trees for shade and picnic benches. Not sure if they have grills at each site as I didn't notice any. The day use parking is a joke compared to the campground. Would be nice if they paved it but alas. The lake and beach itself is nice. There's incredible views of the mountains surrounding you. The beach is rocky but that's the case with most "desert" lakes. You can also fish here if you have a license to do so. Since the lake straddles Nevada and California, a license from either state will be honored. We just stopped here on a whim so we didn't spend a whole lot of time here. Plus it was ridiculously hot. But I could envision spending the day out here on the beach provided I had a chair, an umbrella, and plenty of ice cold beer. read more

3 stars for an ok experience. Pros: Friendly staff, free showers, close to lake, can pull your boat right up to beach. There is a free sewer dump station on sight. Beautiful view! Cons: $35/ night for water/electric , plus $10 boat launch fee, plus $10/day for extra vehicle. Seems pretty pricy compared to other campgrounds. Limited trees and shade. No boat dock. Mosquito haven!!! We will likely return, Topaz lake makes it worth it! read more

Topaz Lake Park - Lakes Near Me - Gardnerville, Nevada

I LOVE this place and so does my family. We recently came here with some friends, fell in love, and have been here every other weekend since this summer started. It really is a hidden gem. The people here are so nice and friendly- they are always willing to help if needed. The beaches are calm and people come here to just relax and have a good time. The water is really high this year- you can pull your trailer down to the campsite and have water access just 15 feet from your set up which is convenient if you have kayaks or thinks to take down to the water with you. Boating and fishing are allowed here in certain areas, it's dog friendly which I appreciate. The water isn't clear, but it's still clean enough to swim in. There are self pay stations when you first pull in, I think it was $5 for a day use pass. It does tend to get windy here, so make sure your equipment is tied down properly. It also makes it difficult to tube/wake board just because of the choppy water. There are bathroom stations and porta potty's available if you don't have a trailer. There is a gas station close by for boating, propane refills or snacks/drinks. read more

I have been going to Topaz Lake camp ground for over 30 years. This year they were remodeling the rest rooms during the Memorial Day weekend. No toilets except Port a potty and no showers. They said they called everyone and told them, I received no calls and they offered no discounts for not having the facilities they list on the Web Sight. This was also the first time the water was full of Algae. This has no baring on my review as they can't control that. read more

This park does provide water access to a sort of hard to access lake. It is rather small but suited the number of people present. Minimal facilities at the park and I'm not sure if the water is potable. Bring your own supplies and some sunscreen (no shade), and I bet this park would be nice for a family picnic..or maybe a walk ...or a good place to play fetch with your dog. Other than that..and I'd probably only stop here if I were staying in town. read more

The entrance is a little hard to find. You turn on the road where you see the Best western sign. It's a downward road where it takes you all the way to the entrance on the other side. It was $5.13 for all day parking, in and out of the parking lot. The lake provides you with a lot of picnic tables, barbecue pits and RV spots. The scenery from the lake is nice just a little dry for me . The bathrooms were pretty clean. Around the picnic area was also clean. There was a lot of boats Jetske's and a lot of kids with there Float toys. The lake was perfect it wasn't too overly packed no more swimming into each other and on the other side there is a Rope swing to swing you in the the water. read more

Topaz Lake Recreation Area is a county park on the shores of Topaz Lake on the Nevada side. They have RV/tent camping with hookups or you can simply pitch your tent on the gravelly shores of the lake without any services. Personally, I camped on the shores ... just backed up my car about 20 feet from the lake and staked out my ground. And what a view!!! Overall its a wonderful place and a tremendous upgrade over some of the local private campgrounds which either have no view or just pack everyone into such tight spots. Of note is that Topaz Lodge Casino is just a very short drive on the other side of the lake. Plus there's a Chevron station with regular convenience store items. For a two bit state line casino, Topaz Lodge was actually pretty nice and provided several hours of entertainment at the $2 minimum blackjack table. read more

I recently stayed at the RV park at Lake Topaz and it's always a treat. The park is clean and access to the water couldn't be better. Very quiet at night and perfect lake views. Watch out for the mosquitos... bring bug spray! read more

I would have to say that I was surprised that Topaz was not as crowded as previous years on memorial day weekend. The backside is still closed as too they say it is flooded with water which is not true, they are just trying to control how many people can actually use this recreational park. As stated by a previous camper for memorial day weekend, the restrooms and showers were under construction so there was only Porta potty's available. We stayed in the RV sites on the lake and for the price it was to camp there per night and there were no hook ups which is ridiculous. We were also harassed about having a second motor vehicle parked in our RV space when we are paying customers for a 4 day site, it was just insane how strict they were. Also the game warden was out warning and ticketing people for not having their kayaks registered, where do we draw the line between what needs to be registered.Soon enough I will have to register my dollar store floaty. I will be taking my camping trips elsewhere this summer. read more
