Went here on my way to Richmond for a band event. Restaurant is tiny but it's cozy- not a problem but if you need to have a super top secret conversation then probably go elsewhere. Lovely decorations and definitely has a 50s feel to it. I got the bacon jalapeno burger omelette, fries and 2 slices of toast are included. The omelette was delicious and chock full of toppings, my only possible complaint would be that the cheese coverage didn't reach the far end. However, that can probably be specified beforehand and its not enough to knock of a star. Regardless of this, I loved it. The bacon and burger were full of flavor and the grilled jalapenos had just the right amount of spice. The grilled onions on top were a great touch. When you're done with your omelette and there's leftover toppings on the plate, you can use fries to sort of scoop them up (awesome). The service was also great. The waitress was talking to regulars, and even asked us what we were up to today. Food came out pretty quick and she asked us if we wanted refills the moment our cups were low. Overall, nice little place. Forgot to get a picture of the food because I was so focused on eating. If I ever come back through the area between the operating hours of 8 and 2 I will certainly be going here. If I happened to pass through after they closed I would probably break in for the pie. This is a must-visit for diner enthusiasts. The building sits on the north-south main thoroughfare through historic downtown Farmville, an area once lined with tobacco warehouses. It is very small, with about fifteen stools wrapping around a classic service counter. According to the menu, the diner is a "One-Master Model 15-Stool Valentine steel building," made by Valentine Manufacturing Company of Wichita, Kansas, in 1955. They have a small parking lot in back of the diner. I parked there and then saw a bathroom entrance sign -- after a 2 1/2-hour trip, nature was calling. It is a very clean bathroom located at the rear of the building, with a separate entrance from the parking lot. There is no access to the restroom from inside the diner -- a unique and nostalgic feature you don't see much anymore. I walked around to the front of the building, entered, sat down on a stool, and was greeted with, "Y'all having a good day so far?" I had a half sweet/half unsweet tea and the Cheeseburger Deluxe with no mayonnaise. It came with lettuce, tomato, pickle chips, onions, French fries, and cole slaw. I put ketchup on the fries, but the fresh tomato alone provided plenty of flavor for the juicy, delicious burger. The French fries were crispy and delicious -- exactly what you hope for at a classic diner. The cole slaw was outstanding and clearly tasted homemade. The pies looked incredible, and because the cheeseburger platter was so good, I had a piece of blueberry buttermilk cake topped with whipped cream -- wow! There is also a clearly posted 3% surcharge if paying with a credit card. Prices are reasonable, so it didn't feel like an issue. This was a great overall experience, and I would recommend this classic, nostalgic mid-20th-century diner to anyone traveling through Farmville. It closes at 2 pm, so plan accordingly! read more

Not gonna lie, I was starving by the time I got off the trail an hour later in search of the sunrise. But this place is always so crowded every single time I pass. It's lucky that I got in, but the early bird caught the worm this morning. The first thing I walked into was a plethora of assorted desserts. The waitress hands me a menu, but I'm already certain I want dessert for breakfast. I came to eat here for the first time a couple of months ago for breakfast and was really pleased with my whole experience. I've looked at Walker's for decades and just never managed to dine there for any reason, but wanted to eventually give it a shot. I knew there would be limited space since the restaurant is just a small room, but when I took the plunge and went in I was grateful that it wasn't packed so I didn't have to sit jammed between strangers like a crushed sardine while we're all perched on backless bar stools. I ended up ordering off of the unofficial menu- the blackboard that contains temporary specials or seasonal options. I got a pancake plate with bacon and coffee. The bacon was fixed perfectly and the pancakes were wonderful; I was more than thrilled with my choice. My review would be 5 stars if there was a bit more of 2 things: privacy and space. The whole shtick of Walker's is that it's a tiny place with limited space, but if it was maybe 2-3x bigger I'd feel a better sense of comfort. read more

We've been visiting Farmville quite a bit over the last three years, and this was the first time that two seats were available in this little diner. Boy, was it worth it! The food was outstanding. We recommend the steak, mozzarella & mushroom omelet - it will melt in your mouth. The service was immediate, and they kept an eye on us in case we needed anything. This restaurant is a hot spot for the local college students - for many, it's a reliable place for a good meal. We understand now why it's always full. Outstanding ! The service was lovely and timely! My friend and I sat outside. They have 3 tables spread out so not a lot of room. I had a BLT with crispy chicken. Delicious! Chicken was crispy and juicy and the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh! The French toast with strawberries was OK. The strawberries and sauce had lots of flavor but the toast was a bit bland. Definitely worth a try though! My friend had the crispy chicken biscuit with chipotle honey sauce! The biscuits were delicious!!! So flaky, buttery, and flavorful! Overall give this place a try! Tucked away in the college town of Farmville, this historic diner (since 1952) is a throwback to a simpler time. Hours are 9a-2p and seating is limited. A true diner experience with eating at the counter. A few seats outside are available. I got the special of crispy chicken on a brioche bun with a side cucumber salad. Service was quick and friendly. They didn't skimp on the chicken portion either. Part of the ambiance was listening to the locals conversation and being welcome to join in. Prices are more in line with 2024, but I do recommend the trip down memory lane. read more

A nice quaint diner with charm that seats about 15 people max inside. However, on warmer days they have ample outside seating. The inside is not very spacious, but the counter top seating with built in bar stools provides sufficient space to eat your breakfast or lunch comfortably. You can even see the cooks preparing your meals. Service was friendly and fast! I ordered the sweet potato pancakes with sausages and a side order of fried apples. My husband had the biscuits with sausage gravy, hash browns and eggs. The portions were generous and the food was downright delicious! It's a no frills, home cooked style, honest meal that was prepared with pride and care. Surprisingly, my sausages weren't greasy either and the food was very filling and didn't load us down. We were both incredibly impressed with the quality of food. They even sell homemade dog biscuits, which I contemplated purchasing for my siblings' dogs, but the treats required refrigeration. (We reside 2 hours away from here). Note: We later realized after leaving, that they have parking behind the building. There is a small entrance to a lot behind the diner. We ended up paying for street parking with coin meters across the street. Initially, we were in a parking lot nearby but realized that particular lot is for green front furniture and three other businesses and towing is enforced. So we left to find street parking. Bathrooms: It didn't appear to have restrooms, but fortunately there are clean public restrooms a few feet away from the diner to the right, if facing the diner. read more

We enjoyed a fantastic burger at Walker's Diner today. A nostalgic and quaint diner setting. Super friendly staff. The burger was cooked from fresh meat right in front of us on a griddle. My wife and I split a burger. Who does that? A man told to do it by his wife. They were kind enough to split the burger and serve in separate baskets with fries. A great experience. The breakfast looked great as well. My only regret was listening to my wife and spitting the burger. Next time I will have my own burger because it is that good. Highly recommend. read more

This is a classic diner. We always have good food here. We stop by on our trips to and from Lynchburg. Pancakes, bacon, sausage. Coffee. Juice. Club sandwich. Fries. Eggs. Whatever we order, Dave makes right up for us. Very small place and sits about 12 or 13. However, we are usually three and someone will scoot over if need be. In the Downtown blocks of Farmville Virginia is this little corner dinner with a friendly and attentive staff that is adhering to the COVID guidelines and producing great food at very reasonable prices. We ordered the Walker Breakfast. Two eggs, bacon or sausage, grits or hash, and toast or biscuit. Eggs were cooked perfect & the hash browns were delicious. The grits were a little plain, which is fine. Lil Chew prefers his grits a certain way and he was able to seasoned to his liking. Definitely a stop when cutting through. read more

Found this little gem after a weekend camping. We were starving a looking for a good breakfast before the three hour drive home. They were not open yet ( don't open until 9) and thought about leaving. We noticed all the people sitting outside waiting and figured it may be worth the wait. So glad we didn't leave. My husband had the western omelette and it was very large and filled perfectly. I had over medium eggs (cooked just right) with rye toast and my son had a pancake that was light and fluffy.
