As someone who does not like parting with my money, I often struggle to find things to do…read more Fortunately, Centre Township Library on the corner of Kern and Miami offers a vast selection of books as well as a variety of events. The library is efficiently laid out, separated into clear areas for adults, teens, and children. There are also many alcoves with comfy seats to sample your choices. I spent thirty minutes in one reading the new Percy Jackson book before checking it out. If you ever have trouble finding a book to read, the friendly librarians are happy to help. One looked at my book list and added three new recommendations, such as Stephen King's new novel. The Outsider was a riveting story. Another saw me checking out Death Note, and suggested a variety of other graphic novels. In turn, this led me to becoming interested in graphic novels, comics, and storytelling through drawing. Every time I enter, I beeline straight toward the graphic novel shelf to find something new to read. Centre Township branch also houses events for the community. Children come every week for story time. Once a month, a euchre tournament is held. Every year, the library hosts a party in honor of Harry Potter's birthday. People from all over the city come to celebrate. And these are just a few of the multitude of events offered. The librarians even dress up as characters! Centre Township Library is a wonderful place to lose yourself in.

They seem to take good care of the cd and dvd collection. There's usually some extra stuff going on at the library. They have a huge community bulletin board of events. Every 2-3 months they host a blood drive, and there is always a craft and a scavenger hunt available for kids. With your library card you also get a limited membership to Hoopla and Kanopy, for digital resources. There is an automatic renewal if no one has reserved the item and a generous grace period.

I've only been on Saturday and Sunday so I can't comment about…read morethe weekdays, but if you're looking for an easy place to park without a lot of traffic I suggest visiting on Sunday. Just be careful in the parking lot, it's small and no one really seems to pay close attention to their surroundings-I've had a few near misses. Also be aware that on the weekends there's typically one or two homeless people out front. They've never been a problem but if you're uncomfortable about that sort of thing consider this your warning. The main branch is where I typically go. I usually request a few books to pick up and then browse while I'm there. I've never had a problem checking out or waiting in line etc. The staff is friendly enough, not very outgoing in my experience, but friendly and knowledgeable whenever I've interacted with the staff.

I came to the library to learn details about the local courthouse. Scott, in the Reference section of the library, spent a great deal of time helping look up information in files and older local history books. He found most of the information that I needed. We also talked about the history of the library. He pointed me to a timeline on their Web site. Logansport has had a library since 1890. They've had several structures, including a limestone Carnegie funded structure. After a fire destroyed that structure in 1941, a newer structure was built. Renovations and additions over the years have led to the current library. The library has a nice reading room with a fireplace and lovely paintings by Hoosier artists. On the first floor is a children's area with a reading room that was filled with kids. There was a very small play area, but for the most part, books are the primary stars in this library. Lots of natural light enters the building. The reference area, pubic computers, and study areas are upstairs. The staff is friendly, helpful and dedicated. I left with maps and I formation and old photographs. There is dedicated parking lot on the east side on the building.

This is a great library, better than the St. Joseph one in terms of policies. You can rent up to 50…read moremovies at a time for 2 weeks at no charge, yes 50. At the St. Joseph one you can get 5 for a week and they want to charge you $1 a movie like you don't pay a ton in taxes as a resident. Friendly staff at both places but this is a library that really respects local patrons.
