This tour is great! I'm so glad we picked it!! First off, this tour isn't hokey or attempt to give you a fake scare or a guaranteed ghost sighting. So if you are looking for some theatrical fake cheap Halloween thrill or a guide with gimmicks like a "ghost detector", this isn't for you. This tour is just as much about Charleston's deep, rich history as much as the ghosts that haunt it. I learned so much about Charleston along with going to the different sites tonight. It was really awesome. Geordie is an amazing guide. He is friendly, funny, well spoken and most of all, interesting. His tour flows and doesn't feel rehearsed or forced. You actually get to go into the sites too. The tour runs 90 minutes and it is so fun. Be sure you take pictures along the way and check them out later. This was more of a history tour than a supernatural or paranormal tour. Our guide was informative but he didn't care that the whole crowd was not staying together as everyone walks at a different pace. By the end of the tour me and my friend we're almost a block behind him and the tour and no one seemed to care. I had heard great reviews about the store and was sadly not impressed. I believe the gentleman's name we toured with was Jordy, George something like that. Learned alot about the history of town when I could keep up with the guide. But if you want a truly eerie experience do the haunted jail tour with Jack Kelly! Wish the tour guide on the walk around town made sure everyone was keeping up and staying together! read more

After many scheduling mishaps (on my part!) Geordie was more than accommodating! His knowledge of Charleston is beyond extensive, and it truly shows with his tour. Really fun night out while in Charleston! The tour was a very interesting walk through the haunted history of Charleston. Geordie did a fantastic job of establishing his credibility in re-telling the stories of those who have had supernatural experiences in Charleston. As he put it, this tour is not a "petting zoo" - there is no cheesy supernatural experiences or scare tactics (which was perfect for our group). He focused on some of Charleston's most haunted places and the stories behind them. He also did a great job engaging with our tour group and made the stories relevant to those on the tour (we had a few seniors, as well as older children). Highly recommended as an alternative to the traditional (boring) history walk! read more

Loved the Haunted Charleston tour with Geordie! Used a Groupon for this 90 minute tour which ran about two hours. Geordie is a great story teller and very personable. We learned lots about Charleston history-both haunted and not and enjoyed walking around the city. Only wish I had cash with me to purchase his book from Geordie, but got it on amazon upon returning home. Worth every penny! read more

Geordie is very knowledgable and obviously has a passion for the history of Charleston. Our tour was a wonderful glimpse into the past of this colorful city. I especially enjoyed learning more about the pirates. Growing up in NC and having spent much of my life at the coast I have heard a lot of history about pirates. However, I have never heard or read a version as well researched and articulated as what I got during our tour. Geordie was able to tell the story as if he had been there himself! My best friend and I were on our first visit to Charleston and decided to do a ghost tour on Halloween night! Geordie was our guide and he was such a really cool guy. The tour started off in the square of the old Citadel and he was fount of really cool Charlestonian information. The spookiest part was our visit to the cemetery. There was a lot of weird stuff going on in there! I was definitely kind of freaked out. The rest of the tour wasn't really scary at all - so I would say if you are looking for super scary don't go - but if you are looking for fun and information about the city in a cool setting then this is right up your alley. We were also gonna purchase Geordie's book but couldn't make it back to the book store we saw it in. Next time! read more

I was in Charleston for my best friend's bachelorette party. We are big fans of history and ghost tours - we do them in every city we can. Our large group was full of true crime lovers and ladies who'd rather not be kept awake with nightmares, and we all loved this tour. We did the supernatural tour and though it wasn't scary at all - which was a wee bit disappointing - we were freaked out at one point (the orphanage). Geordie is a cool guy and very talkative with the group. We were a group of 13 in total and seemed a bit delayed in getting started because Geordie engaged all of us in 20 questions about where we're from and what we do for a living but he that was part of his southern charm. We started at the citadel, which was cool and interesting, went to the orphanage, which was creepy as we may had "triggered" a poltergeist!, visited the sight of public executions and finished at the College of Charleston. The stories were vivid but def had a "ghost stories" feel. We didn't visit the cemetery which was a bummer. Aside from that Geordie is very knowledgable, fun, engaging and obviously loves Charleston and what he does! read more

We found Walks in History on Groupon, and bought one for our upcoming trip to Charleston. We were really looking forward to it, but both a little skeptical that the tour might be kitschy or hokey. Geordie's tour was just the opposite. He led us through multiple areas of Charleston, some of which I doubt are available to the corporate ghost tours. Geordie told plenty of "ghost stories" but he knowledgeably situated the stories in the rich history of Charleston. We certainly got more than we bargained for; rich history, and a good spook! Another incentive, both Geordie and his partner are locals, and so is their business. read more

We didn't have to walk too far (which was good because it was freezing), but still got to see some important sites.
