He was measuring but not writing down the measurements! My wall was a kind of complicated shape, and Edison called me and we talked on the phone, and exchanged drawings via email to figure out the best way to build. I am absolutely astounded at the beautiful job Edison and his partner Martin did today, converting our large living room that went into the kitchen with an odd dogleg into a separate room with a built in closet. Edison is funny and genial on the phone, and made time in his schedule at late notice to come see the space. His quote was very reasonable, well under several other competitors, but not so low as to be scary about cutting quality for price. He showed up with Martin and the got right to measuring, stepped off to get more materials, and spent the rest of the day making amazing things happen. My building is 116 years old and the ceiling is definitely not parallel with... well, anything, but he made it look really great with his seams and molding. He even put a bi-part folding door on the closet so we'd have more space usage and it wouldn't hit an existing wall sconce. Finally, they cleaned up every speck of dust, and helped me paint a personal little project on the side. Super service and kind guys. Truly, these guys are above and beyond. He was friendly, on time, respectful, knowledgeable and did the right recommendations for space. The work was done completely in 4 h. The closet looks fantastic and him and Jose worked really quick and efficiently. They painted everything carefully with Benjamin Moore paint that doesn't smell a lot. They protected the floors while they were working and painting. Also cleaned up after finishing the job and helped us hanging a painting to our new wall. Edison and Jose did a great job on my wall installation. I moved into a flex bedroom in an otherwise perfect unit, except there was no 4th wall, only an open staircase that led to the kitchen and living room, so I wanted more privacy. The job took about 8 hours (a bit longer than the 6 hour estimate) and there is a veeeery small gap between the temporary wall and the preexisting wall, which I asked them to cover up more tightly. Jose put up some molding but I can still see the gap and it is less soundproof than I hoped for. I'm just going to get a cheap adhesive seal at a hardware store to take care of this. Overall though, they did an excellent job. And Edison told me I can call him any time I need the wall taken down and he will do it free of charge. Great service! They only accept cash BTW! read more

Search no more. Edison is the Colombian Wall Wizard!!! I had a whole vision for what I wanted to create in order to make my studio more of a one-bedroom. I had even taken the french doors from my last apartment (a one-bedroom), because I wanted to create the partition using them, and Edison made my dream come true - it looks gorgeous. I called him one day, he came in and took a look, and when I told him I wanted this done ASAP he said, "How's tomorrow?" Unbelievable. From the moment he walked in, he got down to business, measured, explained, gave me options. He is the perfect combination of "craftsman meets scrappy work environment", meaning he did not sacrifice quality or attention to detail even while having to work in my small NYC space. He really made magic and it looks better than I could have imagined. There is a big difference between just knowing how to "build" something and also having a delicate hand and an eye for aesthetic quality and clean work - I hadn't asked for crown molding but he added it knowing what style I was going for and it looks absolutely gorgeous. Another note, I had been especially vocal about how thin the walls and ceilings and floors are, and to please be careful to make as little noise as possible (it was Saturday!) ... while some noise HAD to be made in drilling and sawing wood, etc., in general he was very careful and conscious of being discreet with the noise and in the building. As other people have said, he is clean and sweeps everything up at the end, brings his own trash bags, etc. All the pros: The man is punctual, flexible, extremely reasonably priced, humble, respectful, and overall has a great spirit and energy. My roommate and I rented a studio in Long Island City hoping to turn it into a two bedroom with a T-wall, but after losing the broker's fee we found ourselves on a tight budget. Edision is the best! Seriously most amazing discovery on Yelp to date. We had a very complicated projects (2 walls, a bi-fold door and glass) and Edison was able to do it without a problem. Several other larger companies I called said they wouldn't be able to come in for another week meaning someone would be sleeping in the living room and their prices were much higher without tax. Edison was reasonable, organized and incredibly efficient. He called back to confirm and even offered to come earlier in the day on Saturday knowing our building might have issues with work being done into the afternoon/evening. Edison and his team worked their magic in a few hours and the wall was beyond our expectations. We were so impressed by how professional and friendly they were especially on a hectic move-in day. After the wall was completed we decided to add plexiglass to the top but unfortunately they didn't have the materials with them. I've done 3 walls in my time in NYC spending 80% of my income on rent and Edison was by far the best wall putter upper. Here are the details: -Called Edison on a Friday and he was at my apartment on Sat. at 9am. -Needed complex L shape wall with french doors and book case. Edison said it was no problem and said he's done many before. He was reasonably priced and didn't nickel and dime me, each component was priced fairly. -They immediately called the super of my building and took care of arrangements. He happened to know the super at my building bc he's done several walls here, so I didn't have to manage that process. -He showed up at my apartment exactly at 9am (which was unfortunate since I had a hangover) and completed his task ~5 hours. I actually don't want someone to finish super fast bc I prefer quality done right. -He brought in all brand new materials, installed the wall and painted. The baseboards, paint quality, metal frame and drywall was very sturdy and of high quality. -He cleaned everything up, we hugged out and I subsequently stared at my wall for three hours marveling at the illusion of separation it created between me and my cat loving shower fearing roommate. Not only was he extremely quick to reply, but him and his team got the job done to my exact needs, worked on the pricing and details with me, and even worked around our hectic schedule and crazy co-op board restrictions. I reached out to him after a friend and I realized we needed our studio split properly. We wanted a T shaped wall but made of bookshelves for better storage. The first day, the guys arrived on time and ready to work. However, due to some unforseen circumstances with the apt, we had to reschedule for another day, after they had already trekked out to me. Ed rescheduled my appointment and even tried dealing with my uncooperative board and super. The next time the guys arrived, everything went much smoother. They told me it would take them about 7-8 hours to build, paint and install the shelves and walls.
