    Silver Inn Kellogg, Idaho
    Melody K.

There are only a couple hotels in Kellogg Idaho and this one is owned and run by the company that owns the waterpark. It is very basic and despite their efforts to renovate and modernize the property it is seriously lacking in amenities. From the outside I would guess it was built in the 1970's. It has been recently painted and is in good repair. Inside the lobby is tiny and contains a couple chairs and their attempt at a continental breakfast. I gotta give them kudos for trying but a small basket of tiny, stale, wrapped pastries, and a thermos of coffee is just not going to cut it in my book. There is no elevator in this two story building so we had to schlep our suitcases and sundry bags up a very narrow staircase to the second floor. (I'm 63 and this was quite the work out, I seriously need to rethink my clothing options and reduce the weight of my suitcase) The rooms are very small and make sure you close the bathroom door before you sit down otherwise the door will hit your knees and not close. I did like the bed and pillows, both were extremely comfortable but the pièce de résistance was the huge 55" television set. Wow! The room also features a microwave and fridge but no bottles of water. There are two bedside tables and desk as well. The furniture all appeared fairly new and in good shape. The floor is carpeted with adhesive carpet strips that were not installed properly and had gaps between the panels. Everything seemed clean enough although the tub had chips in the porcelain. There is a basket on the sink counter with soap, shampoo, conditioner & lotion. Also on the counter is a small coffee maker and one packet of coffee grounds, dry creamer and sugar. There is an ice machine and vending machine on the first floor. This place is definitely not a luxury hotel but it is fine for one night when traveling cross country.

Pure comfort food! Pictured is a dinner roll as big as a loaf of bread. See salt shaker for perspective.

Decent enough, but in need of updating. Room was clean, wi-fi worked ok. We visited during very hot weather, and the air conditioner had no problems keeping things comfy. Shower had the water pressure of a fire hose, and could not be adjusted down. I loved it; the GF did not. I swear it could strip paint. Restaurant was a bit of an oddity. Pure comfort food on the menu, just don't stop by if you're in a hurry. Food is fresh, and prepared to order, but it does take time. Be careful when ordering a dinner roll; it's almost the size of a loaf of bread. The cinnamon rolls would have problems fitting into a man's shoe box, they're so big. Prices are very affordable, food good, service a bit slow, but friendly.

Clean bedding is non existent. Way, way over priced . Hard worthless beds. Would rather walk to the next town than stay there again.

While the bees are not aggressive (as long as you don't irritate them, they won't bother you), those who are allergic may want to either bring extra epi-pens, or stay somewhere else. If you're a perfectionist, or want all of the latest conveniences, besides a microwave and mini fridge, then this place is not for you. But, if you want a place to lay your head for a night in a decent room at a good price, where the staff is, helpful and friendly and the bare bones place close to the freeway, then it's hard to beat here. Yet, another independent who doesn't offer cash discounts. But, for the price, I can't blame 'em. The grounds, in my opinion, could be maintained a little bit better. But the room and bathroom were clean, and the bed comfortable. There is a microwave and a mini fridge. But, no clock or phone. And of course, because of the age of the Motel, there are very few outlets in which to charge your devices. One thing to be aware of, is that in the early evening, you may hear a loud BOOM, and feel a sharp vibration. When this happened, I looked out the blinds, and nobody was freaking out. So, I was guessing everything was okay. The next morning, I found out it was one of the 3 mines in the area doing some blasting. One thing this place could upgrade on, is put it in room darkening shades, in place of the blinds. As the room may get more light then you would like (for me, it wasn't bad. And, it actually helped not to trip over the foot of the other bed; see picture). They do have laundry facilities 8-) , but it was out of order. :-( Also, no breakfast available here of any kind (there are several places around). But, for $56, I wouldn't expect it.

Very small, I booked a king bed and got a full. No plugins or counter in the bathroom, just a stand alone sink. Very old building. Rips and tears in the blinds on the windows and the comforters. The bathroom fan sounded like it was going to tear out of the ceiling. I was very disappointed. Next time I'll check the reviews NOT just the photos.
